July 7, 20169 yr I also think this will go into ET but penalties will be avoided with a 2nd half of ET winner!
July 7, 20169 yr The person who engraves the names of the winners on the trophy should have the trophy and the engraving equipment nearby tonight because either France or Germany's name will be on the trophy this year for sure.
July 7, 20169 yr Disappointing for Wales but I never thought they'd be that successful. I watched in Wrexham last night and we still had street celebrations despite the score. We're so proud of our nation.
July 7, 20169 yr Germany really had to score when they were dominating the first half. Credit to France for picking them off, theirs to lose now!
July 7, 20169 yr The match was quite entertaining to watch, Germany dominated the first half, and they had many chances, they simply couldn't find the net. It was 50/50 gameplay so I wasn't really bothered who would win tonight, but I supported Germany to win. Should see Portugal getting thrashed, I probably predict 5-1 to France

July 7, 20169 yr The next Euro competition will be well different with various countries hosting it, so there won't be a host nation getting an automatic placing into the main competition. This is just a one-off apparently to mark 60 years of the Euro competition.
July 7, 20169 yr I always fancied France over Germany as France did look a lot stronger in the QFs than Germany did (I know it's a little unfair as they were against Iceland and Germany had Italy, but still the latter was a hint that were quite as on top as they had been), glad I narrowly predicted them to win in the predictor! :D Very well deserved winners, it really did not go the Germans' way at all despite them being very strong at first. Griezmann with a chance of golden boot of the tournament surely! Really cheering them on to annihilate Portugal on Sunday. Edited July 7, 20169 yr by Chez Wombat
July 7, 20169 yr The next Euro competition will be well different with various countries hosting it, so there won't be a host nation getting an automatic placing into the main competition. This is just a one-off apparently to mark 60 years of the Euro competition. read: no one except Turkey wanted to host so this is the explanation we come up with. 60 years isn't that romantic or a big milestone when 1/5 of the contests fall on a multiple of 20. However, it will be interesting to see how it shakes up the tournament with no nation getting an advantage against their opponents for fear of 'spoiling the party'. Could even work out better - except for people who want to go to all the matches. Also it'll be funny to see Baku hosting large parts of it when Azerbaijan gets nowhere near making the finals like usual. Boo @ France, really wanted Germany to do the double - although at least this means Portugal don't get to just add to their fluke even if they didn't win with an automatic entry into the Confederations Cup. Could be quite neutral in the final actually, would be nice to see France win on home turf, similarly it'd be nice to see Portugal reverse what happened 12 years ago and get their first victory and help their players get over their angst.
July 7, 20169 yr Portugal will have to soak up every ounce of lady luck to beat France. They've fluked their way to the final. France are so much better. If they had Benzema instead of Giroud up front they would have been even better than they have. I must say I've been impressed with France, they've grown in to the tournament without being spectacular, but the crowd really has given them the extra 10%. They were magnificent in the second half against Germany. Kinda feel for the Germans, I reckon if they had an actual striker they might have given France an entirely different game. If Gomez was about, I have no doubt they would have scored in their first half dominance.
July 7, 20169 yr I didn't get the BBC saying how Germany have dominated the first half - France always seemed in control and they had hardly any shots on target - France also looked a lot more dangerous on the break with their more direct approach. I disagree that Portugal have been poor - they took a while to get going but have had a manager who loves his tactical game and nullified his Croatian and Welsh opponents well. They have 4 good defenders - Carvalho, Fonte, Alves & Pepe - 2 defensive midfielder - Carvalho & Danilo - and creativity around with Nani, Ronaldo who have three goals each, Moutinho and a young new star Renato Sanchez! In that mix Ronaldo and Pepe are two of the worlds best IMO!
July 10, 20169 yr Looking forward to seeing Antoine Griezmann do the Hotline Bling dance after scoring against Portugal in the final
July 10, 20169 yr Author Between myself and SevenSeize tonight for the sweepstake. Good luck to you mate. I think it will be a France win with them just edging it 2-1 to them. Hope it's an exciting final. Not too dull.
July 10, 20169 yr Really hope France get this - I must admit as the tournament has gone on I've really fell in love with their style of play - so good.
July 10, 20169 yr I had a dream about this match last night. It finished 2-1 to France with Ronaldo, Griezmann & Payet the scorers!
July 10, 20169 yr Author It could be an emotional occasion for France if they win giving the events of last November.
July 10, 20169 yr It could be an emotional occasion for France if they win giving the events of last November. Particularly as Griezmann's sister was one of the survivors from the Bataclan.
