Liverpool will still be in our shadow next season no matter who is in charge.

Feel sorry for Louis Van Gaal but it was obvious that this was going to happen from when we lost to soon-to-be relegated Norwich at home in December.

Going to be interesting for sure, I think we will do really well next season - saying this without my tinhat on too!

At least we know how to fire a manager without a media parade. This is worse than the Moyes fiasco

The Sky journalists hover around Man Utd more than probably any other club in England and sackings are VERY rare for us so that's why it's a bigger deal in the media.

Mate, sackings are always a big deal in the media especially with the big clubs. You're just like every other club now sacking managers, only twice now you've catastrophically messed it up! The whole world has known about it for over 48 hours. Man Utd yet to make a comment, it's not great.

We've finally made a comment and so has LVG. The Van Gaal era is officially over.

I do feel a little for the club as they've done their best to handle this respectfully and privately and backed LVG publicly right up to the FA Cup win. This has been turned into a farce by Jose's agent, not the best terms for the new era to start on.

I am not surprised it's taken so long however as there are proper processes for this sort of stuff. United could hardly come out on Saturday night and brief the media "yeah LVG is sacked" before they've spoken to him and negotiated the terms for the split. That's just basic employment law at work. Read a lot of commentary in the press today backing United's handling of the shit situation they were put in. With the media and the professional footballing ranks I doubt there will be any lasting repetitional damage because of this, we'll be seen as a club who refused to undermine their manager even when they were about to sack him and one that attempted to let him celebrate the FA cup win before the media circus began.

Apparently the official word was delayed at the request of LVG, so he could pack and board a flight to the Algarve, presumably to escape the media circus.
I've never liked Mourinho and his mind games. The way he reacted during that physio incident at Chelsea made me dislike him even more. Not sure if he is the "correct fit" for Manchester United. I have seldom seen young players coming through to have an impact on the first team. Yes, he provided experience for his young players (witness Lukaku, a recent example), but he had to move to get a chance to play regular first team football at this level. I was surprised he wasn't kept at Chelsea, especially after his goal scoring exploits at West Brom and Everton on loan.

Regarding young players it makes you think whether Rashfrord will be remain in the first team or not.

I'm not too sure what to think as Mourinho as probable manager. His treatment with the physio incident was disgusting.

I'm resigned to the fact that the tidal wave of destruction is coming. Although with Zlatan as his first signing (tbc obv) I think we have tangible evidence of the one true advantage of Jose. He will attract the big names in a way Van Gaal couldn't. (if he sells Phil Jones I will literally become his personal cheerleader.)

No chance. Especially if Man Utd are signing Ibra.

It's a catch-22. Mourinho doesn't have a history of playing youth players, that said, I do wonder if he might have to make some concessions.

I will be so gutted if the likes of Rashford, Fosu-Mensah, Lingard don't play much or even at all next season as a result of Mourinho's arrival, those guys kind of rescued our season in the last quarter.

Can't see it myself personally... Not when I expect you'll be buying some big star player names.

Rashford has done enough for Jose to keep him in the first team after being called up to England but they will prob still spend 12m a year on a 34 year old Zlatlan!

Why are sackings very rare for United? Apart from Busby and Fergie United have sacked many a manger in the past 70 years since the war, in fact probabaly an average on par with other clubs.

Even with Rashford, United are still short up front. Probably better value options than Zlatan out there but the lack of transfer fee makes it seriously tempting.

I didn't mean in the entire history of Man Utd, I meant in modern times.

Lack of transfer free, but 300k a week in wages, plus a gigantic signing-on fee! Might be free on paper, but the total cost will be huge. He will be good, I'm sure of that. Just whether he can be consistently good I'm not sure. Seen top players flop before.

Is Old Trafford big enough for the combined egos of Mourinho and Ibrahimovic?

Probably  It's already hilarious, everything is all about Jose. I think he'll do well, not win the league well, but they're going to splash a lot of money and completely ruin the whole ethos of the club. Just like I predicted the Moyes debacle, I also expect this to go horribly wrong yet again, just not within the first year.
