Posted June 4, 20169 yr Muhammad Ali, one of the greatest boxers of all time has died aged 74. A sport legend gone. Probably the most recognizable names of sport. A true sporting icon. An inspiration to any boxer and anybody who wishes to take up a sport. Please feel free to post your tributes on here on what is a sad day in world of sport where we've lost a legend of boxing and in sport.
June 4, 20169 yr I did a double take when I saw this. I knew of his sad decline but I didn't know he was critical. Really sad, once again 2016 proving to be a worse than bad year for passings. I was always a fan of his, such a shame for the boxing world and the sport world in general to lose such an iconic and larger than life character from its ranks. RIP.
June 4, 20169 yr I don't like boxing. Never have. I was a fan of Ali though, from day one. He was articulate, principled, handsome, and self-assured in an era when Black people were very much seen as second-class citizens. He could take anyone on, and I don't mean in the boxing ring, I mean verbally. One of the greats, and I look forward to hearing Donald Trump's tribute to an American Black Muslim legend. It's what he would have wanted.
June 4, 20169 yr Not a boxing fan myself, I knew he was ill for some time now, another legend passes away. RIP Ali
June 4, 20169 yr Yes but this was coming with his age, so not too surprising and can't really blame 2016.
June 4, 20169 yr I am not a fan of boxing but i always looked up to and admired Muhammad for his principles and values. What a inspiration. Rest in peace :(
June 4, 20169 yr How very quick that was, I was reading the newspaper just last night whilst waiting for food and it was published there how he went downhill in the last two or so months. Didn't think it'd be quite that quickly. I've never particularly watched or been interested in Boxing but of course he's a huge name and it's a big loss to the sport world :(
June 4, 20169 yr R.I.P. "The Greatest", probably the biggest name in Sport ever. Watching SSN tracking his career, truly remarkable man.
June 4, 20169 yr An absolute sporting great. I can't think of a sporting icon as big as him still alive. RIP
June 4, 20169 yr I saw a headline last night that he was unwell but I didn't click on it because he's had a history of bad health so I thought that it was something minor, possibly linked to his Parkinson's disease. And now less than 24 hours later he's dead :( , R.I.P to the greatest boxer of all time and one of the most influential people to have ever lived.
June 4, 20169 yr Author A tribute programme to Muhammad Ali will be on BBC One at 9:30pm tonight. The greatest sporting icon of the 20th century and possibly of all time.
June 5, 20169 yr rip a true legend. suppose it's a bit of a harsh wake up call.. no matter what you do, or how good you are, time catches up to all of us eventually you think people like him are emortal.. but they arn't rip
June 5, 20169 yr A truly inspiring man and sporting legend. As he said ‘Don’t count the days, make the days count’.
June 5, 20169 yr He was on the right side of history on his non sporting opinions too! With so many 20th century legends passing away this year it feels like the generations are moving on :(
June 8, 20169 yr I’m a MASSIVE boxing. I’m on all the forums. So I can only start this by judging Ali as the boxer. He was the greatest in his era. He fought everyone. The butcher don’t care what’s on the table, he’s chopping it up, that was Ali’s motto. Current fighters should take note. I do thing if he fought any fighter maybe, bar a prime Tyson it would be a brawling azz-wooping in Ali’s favour. Last year (Or was it the year b4) we had Mayweather Vs Pac-Man. Manny was a sore loser and moaned about his shoulder. Adrenaline is a mother. It’s why a mofo can get shot and still drive himself or walk himself to a hospital. Ali fought with a broken jaw for 15 rounds !!!! Ali the Man ? Where to begin ? He stood up for his beliefs. Did not go to war he did not believe in. Campaigned for civil rights. All in all. I can’t really put Ali into words and I’m probably doing a bad job. So much I want to say, but all I will say is that his legacy will live long after we are all gone. RIP Champ
