June 9, 20169 yr Chris does have a point, if you have an auto veto for a certain amount of times entered, then the fact they've been entered 6 times shouldn't be a cause for veto at only 12pts because then it renders that level you've stated for an auto veto a little bit null and void? I guess the 3 top 10s as The Good Natured will have worked further against it though, so maybe if the previous 6 times weren't successful on 50% of the times attempted, it'd be different.

Normally auto-vetoes announced at this stage have accumulated the number of points needed to be an auto-veto rather than just a regular veto, but a few that have been announced recently haven't passed that threshold and yet are still considered auto-vetoes? (just so you know I can see why Lovestarrs got vetoed, I'm just a bit confused)
June 9, 20169 yr Oh, Lovestarrs wasn't an auto veto, Cody. If this entry was accepted, anyone who tried to send them in the future would be auto vetoed.

June 9, 20169 yr Lovestarrs was me. I wouldn't have sent it if I knew it wasn't going to be passed because of the number of times the artist has been sent. I do think it's very unfair that it went with only 12 points and because they had been entered too many times before - why not say that in the veto framework? It doesn't have points from anywhere else so it has been vetoed because they've been sent multiple times and it had become "excessive". Was effectively auto-vetoed it seems. Can guarantee less inspired/more cheap songs than Highasakite and Lovestarrs will have been in the last contest, this one and the next so the inconsistency is annoying when you're on the receiving end but it's impossible to please everyone so I'm k ~ Anyway I have a killer track that Rob reminded me of (the Hendinia related triple win IS STILL HAPPENING) so moving on with powah powah powah.

June 9, 20169 yr (My post sounds really negative because it's a shit feeling being vetoed especially if you and others think it's undeserved but I am ok with it and I know the mods have a tough job sorting this out so apologies for airing my thoughts ! Just being a grump~ I'm grateful I found out for both songs sooner rather than on the last day ;o)
June 9, 20169 yr Rob was spot on with his point earlier, the 6 previous entries was a key factor but not the only factor. If the band didn't have 3 top 10s to their name then it may well have been okay, but they are an artist with a good track record and therefore will be known by more participants than an artist that got knocked out in the semis 6 times or whatever. At least that's how I personally saw this one!
June 9, 20169 yr I haven't been online for a couple of days so just catching up on this. The framework does say that anything tripping a single red flag is eligible to be binned. & a for the record. An autoveto is anything with 25 points or more, everything else has been discussed before vetoing. Even if we have done a very quick turn around it has still been discussed (just means everyone was in agreement about vetoing it)
June 9, 20169 yr Oh and never apologise for voicing your opinion. The veto is subjective, hence the framework to make it more consistent, and we work really hard to get it right but there will always be things we can learn from and alter and improve. Erik Hassle's veto will always be justified on the grounds of good taste. Absolutely f***ing vile. Almost as bad as Darin or Andreas Johnson *shudders* :P
June 9, 20169 yr On the bright side I'm glad the veto process is happening faster and more efficiently
June 9, 20169 yr I've sent something that hopefully all the ones who enjoyed Meghan will enjoy this track too. Powerful pop sung live ❤...English not Afghan.
June 9, 20169 yr On the bright side I'm glad the veto process is happening faster and more efficiently Thank you for the compliment! We implemented a new process of dividing the research between us following a couple of consecutive months of being slow with the research which culminated during BJSC 81 which was delayed for 2 or 3 days between confirmations and semi-finals if I remember rightly. Ever since the implementation of the process following BJSC 81 I don't think we've had to have an extra day between confirmations closing and semi-finals opening apart from one late veto re-confirmer one month and the process is getting continually more efficient as you can see by how quickly we can get the vetos out now as we continue to adapt, especially with the introduction of Google Forms too. So I'm very glad you and Bal have both noticed this as it means our new strategy is working! :D
June 9, 20169 yr what is a red flag though? like it just seems like a device that the mods can use to justify any veto without any real explanation behind it. if a random 'red flag' can trigger a veto then what is the point of having a detailed framework at all? 👹
June 9, 20169 yr A red flag is just another name for the list of 12 point offences and it has been on the framework since the last update that a song will be discussed for vetoing if it hits a single 12 point offence or gets between 14 and 25 points when combining multiple offences. It's not a new thing, perhaps just a new phrasing that hasn't been used before.
June 9, 20169 yr We put it at 14 points purely because if a song gathers a minimum of 14 points it means it has got two medium risks under its flag, and that itself raises awareness for it. I suppose the veto threshold being 12 makes sense as well but a song never will get 12 points unless it obtains it through achieving a high risk category so we capped it at 14.
