If we're to believe journalists on Twitter, it sounds like he's about to demote all of the 'northern-sounding' front benchers to promote 'London-sounding' front benchers (apart from Jess Phillips). I'm not really sure how that one works to stop the narrative that the party is 'London-centric' Very much sounds like an even bigger plunge into 'Blue Labour' territory is coming :/

The removal of Rayner is cowardly as much as it is bizarre. 'I'm taking responsibility'. Yeah, right.

To quote Tony Blair to John Major in 1997: WEAK, WEAK, WEAK.

I'm not sure why people rushed to vote for Starmer. Had the vote happened a year or so after the BBC postal votes Brexit election, I think we may have got an actual socialist as leader.

Like who? Rebecca Long-Bailey? Labour would become nothing more than a student protest party.

RLB would be an utter disaster. I lived in her constituency for a while and I do not exaggerate when I say I’d rather have Willie „Scotlands national embarrassment“ Rennie as my rep. She’s a shite MP who is completely invisible in Salford. Even in the more affluent Quays. She is like the posterchild of labour taking advantage of voters and just assuming they’ll vote for them.

And I say this as someone who actually voted for her!! (Wasn’t exactly gonna vote Tory now was I?)

Richard Burgon, Angela Rayner, and yes, RLB.

Bojo is hardly a stellar local mp, but he won elections (in large part due to the one party state media and Cummings and Goings).

Richard Burgon, Angela Rayner, and yes, RLB.

Like I said - nothing more than a student protest party and all poor choices, Rayner the least worst by some distance however.

Looks like Labour will win the West Yorkshire Mayorship but will probs lose the Batley and Spen seat in a by-election.

No. All three would be excellent choices, although I am less sold on RBL to be honest. Rayner and Burgon are the two best MPs, after Corbyn and McDonnell, in the entire party, and offer a clear vision of hope and social democratic ideals. Obviously, it is hard to win with ANYONE in a one party state, where the opposition is there to give a veneer of democracy, but they, like Corbyn, are the ones who could potentially break through.

Burgon is comfortably one of the worst MPs  He's an example of an MP that makes you lose all respect for the job. We'd starting down the lines of think the 2019 election results were solid under Burgon's leadership.

Blojo... The haunted pencil... Esther whatever... Jeremy Hunt... Any member of the mendacious, evil cabinet... They make us lose respect for mps, not a democratic socialist. Sorry, but your inner Tory is showing again.

He is horrendous.

He is horrendous.

So we're on the same page, Rooney sees a socialist, articulate, passionate MP as somehow LOWERING RESPECT for MPs, and yet doesn't have a peep to say r.e THIS:

Look Michael, your whole argument about why he is a good politician is because he is a socialist. Just because you agree with their ideology does not make them a good MP.

And for the record, what Rees-Mogg did in Parliament was horrendous.

And just because you disagree with him doesn't make Burgon bad.

I have never found out what exactly is why people have a particular loathing for Richard Burgon? He seems a good hearted principled man. RLB is is completely non charismatic although then again Starmer with his moody poses on windswept streets is hardly a great laugh at a party. If he’s taking most of Johnson’s policies but with zero of the personality then yes people might as well elect the real thing.

I disagree with him because he is a complete idiot, not because I disagree with his views. There is numerous evidence of his own personal gaffs and select memory and that's even without his personal views on anti-semitism.

It is because he is a talented socialist politician.
