November 25, 20177 yr Author 36 Juranabaijan: Stromae – Papaoutai 37 Ultraviolenceland: Lucy Hale – Lie A Little Better 38 Hendinia: Blood Diamonds ft. Grimes – Phone Sex 39 Daehun: Jolin Tsai – Play 40 Altyr Muunilinst: Willa – Hey Hey was one of my 2016 BJSC highlights, an absolute bop that came 2nd to Pupok, so I couldn't begrudge it too much! V Popjustice in the best way, this has a lot of blogpop sensibility but has a huge BJSC pleasing chorus and is so addictive. Play is a fab example of Mandopop, Chinese pop often pales in comparison to K-Pop or J-Pop but by go this doesn't! With bags of attitude, banging slightly trappy production and an incredible drop, this can stand up against the solid material of any of Jolin's peers. CL would sell her mother for this song *.* Phone Sex is a perfect mix of banger and odd, symbolic of Grimes really. It's just got it all, I'm surprised it didn't do a bit better in BJSC but top 10 was solid - n fact this was the contest that our reiging BJSC champtions TRST first won with Sulk! Lie A Little Better is one of the best country entries ever to BJSC, such sass behind it *.* Lucy's voice is perfect for it, and of course Unovia loves a bit of country. This should have gone top 10 but 11th for a country song is fab! Papaoutai rounds off this section as a top 10 smash, great for a French rap song. The lyrics are so emotive, about an absent father who doesn't give the love and emotion his son needs, portrayed by a melody which is so catchy and irresistible.
November 26, 20177 yr 'Papaoutai' is incredible, that and 'Alors On Danse' are both pretty addictive songs from Stromae. <3
November 26, 20177 yr Author 31 Hendinia: Wynter Gordon – Buy My Love 32 Kylienips: Meg Myers – Sorry 33 Republique d’ashton: Little Nikki – Little Nikki Says 34 Daehun: CL – MTBD 35 Hendinia: Lucas Nord ft. Tove Lo – Run On Love Run On Love is a total banger, exactly how to do dance well in BJSC. A far better example of Tove going dance than Heroes was, I wish this got the commercial success instead. The chorus as well as the "drop" (I guess it's more of an instrumental chorus than drop) go OFF and really soar. MTBD aka "manboob" is a BOP F LIFE ofc. Whilst this is on a 2ne1 album, it is a CL solo and was one of the first tastes of her being the one to break out solo (still waiting for that solo album). It's typical CL, packed with attitude and trappy production that just goes off to create a total banger and a rightful BJSC smash. Little Nikki Says is the sass anthem we ALL need *.* I have no idea how she didn't break out commercially, this is such a huge pop song! Her attitude and the catchiness more than make up for some iffy lyrics like "I say potato and you say it too, ip dip doo I'm shitting on you" *_* Sorry is a contest winner, and one that was 75 tries in the making for Martin :o This boasts atmospheric verses that build into a COLOSSAL chorus that many songs could only dream of, it's no wonder this smashed the competition. Buy My Love rounds off this section being a Hendinia sandwich, another pop banger as they are known and loved for! Wynter is a serial BJSCer, having been entered so many times she is now an autoveto, but this is her best outing for sure. It's so summery, fun and poppy, nothing more than a bloody good pop song which sometimes is all you need.
November 26, 20177 yr YESSS 'Sorry'! It was amazing to witness the surge of hype for that as each stage of the contest progressed :o I believe it wasn't getting particularly remarkable odds at the start of proceedings but then went down extremely well at the plug.dj session, I think that felt like the moment when we started taking plug stats seriously. What a triumphant moment for Mikey to win 75 contests in! One of my favourite winners since I joined of course as I gave it 15 points *.* I could just not resist that explosion of a chorus.
December 1, 20177 yr Author Omg so much Ashton love here  *.* YESSS 'Sorry'! One of my favourite winners since I joined of course as I gave it 15 points *.* I could just not resist that explosion of a chorus. yeah that was such a moment, part of the reason why my hot take each month is "something random will win" :kink:
December 1, 20177 yr Author 26 Aeroche: AG Cook – Beautiful 27 Hushkanukia: PVRIS – St. Patrick 28 Greenfroze: Jillette Johnson – Cameron 29 Republique d’Ashton: Ida – Maybe I Like It 30 Eledan: Emma - Non è l’inferno Non è l'inferno is the only Italia language song in my top 30, although my own Vulcano would deffo join it if I were to include my own entries <3 The Italian language is so beautiful and it really shines in the subtle building verses as much as the explosive huge chorus *.* Maybe I Like It is such a subtle beauty, an improvement on the already lovely I Can Be. As I said with I Can Be, Ida's voice is so pretty it's like it paints a picture as she sings and illuminates th whole song, and the light tribal instrumentation of this only adds to that <3 The way this builds is stunning. Cameron is an brilliantly written song, it builds amazingly and comes to a epic conclusion where Jillette vocally gives it her all while the instrumentation explodes all at once. Between the hard hitting lyrics that weave a heartbreaking story ad the unique emotive vocals, this is a total winner and I was so glad it was a surprise top 10 smash in its contest  St Patrick is something I didn't eve vote for, madness! Thankfully this epic stadium electro-rock track didn't need my votes as it smashed to the win aftr a bad start of 5 DNQs for Hushky! I know count Pvris as one of my fave bands so not voting for it was ridic. Beautiful was yet another win for Aeroche and another totally deserved one! A perfect example of PC Music, Beautiful has all the hallmarks of a great PC Music song without being a cookie cutter song. It's an absolute banger, I'd kill to hear it in a club it'd go OFF *.*
December 1, 20177 yr St. Patrick is honestly beautiful, such an amazing winner. aww it looks like you didn’t love my entries enough </3 Just tell me what I can do better :P
December 1, 20177 yr 26-28 there are all brill, 2 of the best winners ever and 'Cameron' is the kind of song that is normally the polar opposite of my thing but I have a big soft spot for it, lovely song <3 'Sorry' also one of the best winners, and 'Little Nikki Says', 'MTBD', 'Phone Sex', 'Play', 'Flytta På Dej' (a song I kind of forgot existed so yay for you reminding me of it), 'Every Night' and 'Brother' are all v good also!
December 1, 20177 yr Author 21 Cadelicia: Feed Me ft. Nina Nesbitt – What It feels Like 22 Tinnmark Anna Abreu - Hysteria 23 Yehesi: K3 – 10.000 Luchtballonen 24 Eledan: RuPaul – Sissy That Walk 25 Botanikka: Gin Wigmore – Black Sheep Black Sheep might be a bit of a random inclusion, but I absolutely ADORED It <3 I considered entering myself but I thought it would flop and sadly I was right :( I can see their her gravelly growl of a voice might not be for everyone, but I adore the attitude and sass from this. It didn't even qualify :( Sissy That Walk was a fab winner, coming at a time where I began to feel a bit disillusioned with BJSC's winners and popular songs. With all the Charisma, Uniquness, Nerve and Talent expected of her Drag Race protegees, Mama Ru brings everything to this huge pop track that would make anyone want to break out into a lipsync performance *.* 10.000 Luchtballonen is another winner, this time from 2016. Tim hit the jackpot with this one, a huge Eurovision-esque pop track that you just have to sing along to, even if you don't now a lick of Dutch. Coming from a band aimed at children who's popularity is mostly down to that, this is such a surprise pop triumph! Hysteria was from one of my very first contests but still impacts me all this time later <3 This is just a perfect example of dance-pop with an amazing chorus, very on trend and could have been a WW hit I feel if given a chance. The final song before the top 20 is What It Feels Like, an absolute banger *.* Perfect example of exactly how to do dance in BJSC, it builds and builds but is never too generic with a shitty drop to ruin it or anything. Nina is of course a big reason behind it, she's hardly the first person you'd expect to shine on a dance track but it works SO well.
December 1, 20177 yr Author St. Patrick is honestly beautiful, such an amazing winner. aww it looks like you didn’t love my entries enough </3 Just tell me what I can do better :P Yeah I haven't really proper loved a Cor Lupus entry I don't thin but I do like a lot anyway lmao 26-28 there are all brill, 2 of the best winners ever and 'Cameron' is the kind of song that is normally the polar opposite of my thing but I have a big soft spot for it, lovely song <3 'Sorry' also one of the best winners, and 'Little Nikki Says', 'MTBD', 'Phone Sex', 'Play', 'Flytta På Dej' (a song I kind of forgot existed so yay for you reminding me of it), 'Every Night' and 'Brother' are all v good also! I always forget about Flytta pa dej but then I always remember what a banger it is if it comes up on shuffle etc. or I place it in a thing like this *.*
December 1, 20177 yr omg Feed Me   I’m pretty sure you have heard it anyway but Love Is All I Got is also beautiful
December 1, 20177 yr 'St. Patrick' is SO good  one of my favourite winners from before I joined. The lyrics really pack a punch and I love the electro-rock production. '10.000 Luchtballonen' and 'What It Feels Like' from that section *.* Nina Nesbitt queen of randomly performing at Gadget Show Live while I was there :kink:
December 1, 20177 yr Cameron is one of my all time faves. It’s just so beautiful  and of course yay for Ida!
December 5, 20177 yr Author omg Feed Me   I’m pretty sure you have heard it anyway but Love Is All I Got is also beautiful Ys it is *.* 'St. Patrick' is SO good  one of my favourite winners from before I joined. The lyrics really pack a punch and I love the electro-rock production. '10.000 Luchtballonen' and 'What It Feels Like' from that section *.* Nina Nesbitt queen of randomly performing at Gadget Show Live while I was there :kink: Omg Gadget show !!!!! Cameron is one of my all time faves. It’s just so beautiful  and of course yay for Ida! Yaass wub:
December 5, 20177 yr I was devastated that Cameron had been sent when I found Jillette, but Torpedo also existed which makes up for it I guess
December 5, 20177 yr Author 16 FSR Rontvia: Delta Goodrem – Hunters & The Wolves 17 Mdice: Charli XCX – Nuclear Seasons 18 #00274E: Yuri & Seoyhun - Secret 19 Ultraviolenceland: easyfun ft. Noonie Bao – Monopoly 20 Hushkanukia: Marlisa – Stand By You Stand By You is such a huge ballad, I am shocked and disgusted at it flopping in BJSC -_- Whilst still being a ballad, it stands out from other reality show winning singles as many X Factor Australia singles do, it has her stamp all over it rather than being a generic cover ballad. At just 15 she sings rings around artists twice her age! Monopoly is the highest 2017 entry on this countdown! Such a bop, a flawless example of PC Music melding with pop sensibilities without losing its heart and core. The production and vocals on this are flawless and it winning kicked off a fabulous year of BJSC in style, and turned the tables for UVLand who sorely lacking in entries finshing top 10 but got 2 winners this year *.* Secret isn't much earlier, a true highlight of BJSC in 2016! An absolute banger, if this was in English it would GO OFF in every club. It doesn't have much K-Pop to it but the Korean language illuminates it well above generic dance banger regardless. Nuclear Seasons was part of an incredible top 3 of which TWO songs are still to come (spoilers x) :o This is still probably my fave Charli song, it's just such a perfect pop song with enough darkness to it as well as having pop sensibility to appeal to all. i'd love her to go back to this a bit but her cutesy but filthy PC Music stuff is just as fine by me. Finishing off this section is Hunters & The Wolves, the first anniversary entry for FSR Rontvia in their 50th contest. This sadly lost on a tie to Frida Sundemo's Indigo, a songI really like but definitely is not as fab as this. Delta recalls Kate Bush on this, which is a comparison I would never apply lightly, that sort of sound just captures me every time plus it has Delta's unique feel to it which ends up an absolute winner of a combination.
December 7, 20177 yr Author 11 Eledan: Ronya – Hyperventilating 12 Hendinia: Ricki-Lee – Raining Diamonds 13 Herzebania: Tove Stryke – Call My Name 14 Tinnmark: Anna Abreu – Hysteria 15 Cadelicia: 4Minute – Hate Hate is an absolute banger, with Skrillex on board it is a perfect example of how K-Pop in recnt years has gotten more commercial for Western audiences without losing its charm. Hysteria is an early BJSC bop from I believe my 2nd or 3rd contest! It was bang on trend and such a catchy dance-pop bop, it made an impact on me and I still listen to it a fair bit now! Call My Name is perfect Scandipop, with Tove finally being entered after White Light Moment always felt like a winner that never was! The chorus is just so huge and gets me every time *.* Raining Diamonds was the winner of the best top 3 ever of which the runner-up is still to come as I said to Nuclear Seasons! Ricki is one of my fave artists ever and this soaring pop song is among her best, an easy winner in the poppy days of BJSC. Hyperventilating is one of those rare times that my top scorer won *.* This song is so huge with a unique sound, befitting to the titl the vocal sounds like she is hyperventilating at times, and the production makes it sound so huge and dramatic.
December 7, 20177 yr Shame that Delta was denied the win, I do prefer it to Indigo. Raining Diamonds tho, what a f***ing stormer of a pop track.
December 8, 20177 yr Ooh Raining Diamonds and Call My Name were both faves of mine despite not being in BJSC at the time :o Skrillex produced Hate!? Amazing, never knew that!
