December 12, 20177 yr Author 06 Aquafina: Nikki Williams – Glowing 07 Botanikka: 2NE1 – I Am The Best 08 Kluminican Republic: Aura Dione – Geronimo 09 Yehesi: Era Istrefi - Bonbon 10 Batidas: Brooke Fraser – Something In The Water Something In The Water is an artist who also represented Unovia with the fancied winner but in reality 6th Kings And Queens! Broooke Fraser is a Kiwi singer-songwriter and this holds the distinction of being her only son to chart outside of Oceania, reaching top 20 in Switzerland, Italy, Germany and Austria and even low top 200 in the UK thanks to Radio 2! This is such a joyous folky pop bop, her voice is so pure and clear and really shines on stuff like this. Bonbon is a TBO winner and no wonder, BOP. Era got worldwide attention with this for it sounding like a lovechild of Sia and Rihana and I have to agree, she's just got that attitude and sass nailed and that keeps you hooked through the whole song eve though I have no idea what she's on about because it's Albanian. There was later an English version released, but I have to stick to the albanian original, it just adds something imo. Geronimo is the 3rd of the fabled amazing top 3 I mentioned with Nuclear Seasons and Raining Diamonds, and a joint best for Klum Rep. Shakira with Scandi sensibility pretty much, the chorus off this goes off and her voice is fresh and unique without being grating or annoying. This song is such a soaring pop triumph, it's honestly a wonder it wasn't a UK hit and I'm still disgusted tbh. I Am The Best is the highest DNQ in this countdown :o I am still absolutely appalled in Buzzjack for that, but even more appalled in myself for giving it sth like 7 or 8... 2NE1 became my fave K-Pop act and this is the best K-Pop song of all time period. Its electro-house production made it feel like a prime candidate for breaking K-Pop out, but it doesn't feel like selling out or anything. At least this got some form of revenge in winning TBO Rejects I guess. Glowing was the winner of spin-off Your Best Of and should have won the main contest tbh. This is about s perfect as dance-pop gets, with verses that build to a soaring chorus you can't help but belt out!

December 12, 20177 yr Author 03 Kopecka: Loreen - Sober 04 Republique d’Ashton: Gabrielle – 5 fine frokner 05 Zechonica: Mandy Capristo – Hurricane Hurricane was actually entered as an acoustic version but I'm bending the rules a bit :kink: This is probably a random choice for some but this huge pop ballad struck me instantly and I still listen to a lot! Coming from a manufactured girlband, you may not necessarily expect Mandy to have the power behind her voice that she does, but the chorus of this is absolutely knock out with the power of the ten wild horses she insists can't drag her away. 5 fine frokner coming BLOODY 32ND is one of the most baffling things since I've been in BJSC (then again that same contest denied Daya top 10 with Sit Still, Look Pretty so god knows what was in the water that month).... I actually only gave like 12pts, but it grew and grew esecially after seeing it in Skam, and it FAR outstrips anythng in its contest now, and most BJSC songs since I've been competing. It has a huge clubby instrumental that the likes of Rihanna, Katy Perry or Little Mix would KILL for even a hint of, and despie me not knowing a lick of Norwegian you best believe I will belt out that chorus confidently. This got a bit of revenge when it won the foreign language iteration of PFSC. Sober was before Loreen decimated music with her paradigm defining Eurovision winner Euphoria, but good lord did she already set the bar high. Sober has subtlety in the verses that builds to a chorus that is as perfect as scandipop gets, the vocals tug at the heartstrings with a mix of power, longing and hope. It's no wonder this won even with a deduction! Top 2 coming soon :o I can reveal it is FARC vs. Daehun, which songs will it be?

December 13, 20177 yr Author 02 Daehun: Indila - Derniere danse Close but no cigar is Daehun's record breaking winner (most top scores, tied with both myself for Pedestrian At Best and Aquafina with Easy Love)! This is such a stunningly beautiful song, with a musical motif sampled from an earlier french song, sounding like a ballroom piece of music. It's lit up by the magial quality of her voice, that weaves a beautiful story once you look at the lyrics. Its no surprise so many people loved this in its contest! 01 FARC: Paulini – Air It All Out (7th Heaven Mix) This was incredibly close, so I went with the one that symbolises BJSC the most for me and has the most connection with me loving (and at times hating) the contest. It's quite symbolic that FARC beats Daehun to rectify the horror that happened when this lost to one of the worst winners of all time :whistle: This is everything that BJSC is about for me, a song that meant a lot to Jake and one that nobody really would have found otherwise (I think it ha like 50 views on Youtube :')), sent to this contest for the masses to enjoy and it almost won! The original is a nice if nothing special R&B ballad but 7th Heaven worked their magic, turning this into a camp as anything dance-pop BANGER with a huge chorus. This is probably their finest work which says a lot *.*

December 13, 20177 yr AMAZING conclusion to this countdown :wub: I don't often point FARC that much but 'Air It All Out (7th Heaven Mix)' is a true gem from them and would have won if I had signed up to the contest just one edition earlier. It's incredible how much this remix elevates the original from a pretty standard song to something special and euphoric. So so good, definitely one of my favourite discoveries prior to joining.
