August 12, 201610 yr Given that Closer is their latest song, Chainsmokers are not very EDM, they are quite cross over, just like Major Lazer. That's nothing new. The last couple of years we saw a lot of urban artists doing dance-pop songs. The barrier between pop and dance are thinner. Pop songs have lots of dance influences and dance songs pop influences. BTW the production of The Chainsmokers' songs makes them EDM. Just because it's slow I wouldn't call them pop. It sounds actually weird, but it's trap. And trap is far from pop to be honest :)
August 12, 201610 yr This is basically just like Lean On being at #2 all over again, they sound so much alike.
August 12, 201610 yr How long until people start to complain that Justin Bieber has been #1/top 2 for too long?
August 12, 201610 yr Calum's version of Dancing On My Own has grown on me, apart from the way he sings the word 'town'. But seeing as he sings 'I'm in the corner, watching you kiss HER' but also 'I'm not the GUY you're taking home', it sort of makes this version of the song pretty interesting lyrically, as he's either singing about being in love with a lesbian or singing from the perspective of a gay guy who's in love with a straight guy. Formed in 2002 by Ryan Tedder and Zach Filkins, the band achieved commercial success on MySpace as an unsigned act. In 2003, the band was discovered by actress Kelly Barrett in Hollywood who connected them directly with her cousins Jimmy Ienner and Donnie Ienner, who was the President of Sony at that time, by making one phone call to get the AR Reps to their show. They then signed to Sony BMG for three years, before moving to Mosley Music Group. In 2007, OneRepublic released their debut album, Dreaming Out Loud. Its lead single, "Apologize" was notably remixed by Timbaland, becoming a huge international success, reaching number one in sixteen countries, subsequently earning them a Grammy Award nomination. The second single, "Stop and Stare" mirrored its predecessor's success. The album was later certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The band's second album, Waking Up (2009), produced the successful singles, "All the Right Moves", "Secrets", "Marchin On", and "Good Life", the latter reaching the top ten of the US Billboard Hot 100. OneRepublic's third album, Native (2013), became the band's first top ten album on the Billboard 200, and highest charting album to date, charting at number four. The lead single, "If I Lose Myself" charted within the top ten in several countries, while the album's third single, "Counting Stars", became the band's most successful single in recent years, obtaining top five placements in Australia, Canada, Germany, Ireland, New Zealand, the U.S. and the UK. This marks their highest charting single in the United Kingdom to date. It has also peaked at number 2 on the US Billboard Hot 100, matching their highest peak of "Apologize" in 2007. - Wikipedia Top 100 Chart History (year/peak/title): 2007 03 Apologize (Timbaland Presents OneRepublic) -1- 2007 04 Stop And Stare -2- 2008 51 Say (All I Need) -3- 2010 26 All The Right Moves -1- 2010 77 Secrets -2- 2013 01 Counting Stars -1- MILLION SELLER 2014 08 If I Lose Myself (Alesso vs. OneRepublic) -2- 2014 03 Love Runs Out -3- 2014 29 I Lived -4- 2014 78 Something I Need -AT- 2016 29 Wherever I Go -1- 2016 xx Kids -2- Discussion Thread Here

August 12, 201610 yr Love On The Brain doesn't sound like it'll be any bigger than Kiss It Better or Needed Me really, I can't see her getting another big hit from the "Anti" era. Given her precedent in 'Stay' and how well the slow Dancing on my Own cover has done, I wouldn't write off 'Close To You' being released nearer to Christmas as a reboot of the era and doing fairly well
August 12, 201610 yr Love Cold Water - I hope it doesn't spend any more than 5 or 6 weeks at the top, though.
