Can I also add, as well as Ronnie and Roxy, how great Sharon looked tonight? Makes a change to see her in something that actually suits.

But they didn't think about the children, poor Jack is left with 3 kids to look after. Mind you the two youngsters stole the show in a way.
I suspect Matthew will go to Charlie, since Jack has no legal connections to him.

Unless Glenda and Danny take Matthew and Amy.

That was very grisly, but I agree whilst it was dramatic, it wasn't too OTT, especially because it was so beautifully executed and shot.

It was fitting for Ronnie if nothing else, she never caught and break and never got her happy ending, so for her to die after finally marrying Jack is of course the only way  I think maybe Ronnie dying and Roxy leaving to go off with Glenda and Danny would have been good, because now there's little reason for Glenda to stick around surely and she is brilliant. I mean yes she's a Mitchell but only through her past marriage to Archie and obviously isn't on great terms with the rest of the family. But for the dynamic they had, the at times awful and troubled co-dependence they had going on, it's perfect for Roxy and Ronnie to die together, because no matter how hard they tried to have their own lives and their own happiness, they kept be drawn back to each other and always just wanted to please each other, they couldn't live apart.

I just kept thinking though, Ongar is like half hour from London, why the fuss over the move? If Roxy wanted to stay where she was she can easily visit. Soaps always act like moving away is the end of the world and the person will be unable to be contacted from then on and cut off for good.

That was a really sadistic end to the episode even by EastEnders standards, I kind of feel quite depressed after watching that.
The last 90 minutes (2 episodes) of EastEnders have been some of the most powerful and intense 90 minutes of TV which I've ever seen. Major, major props to everybody involved.

That was a ridiculously deep swimming pool for a hotel and I didn't see a single ladder attached even if they had been able to get to one.

It was a very sad ending for the two of them and part of me is disappointed it played out almost exactly like the story that had been batted about. I do think Ronnie has run her course as a character but Roxy could have given more once she was out of her sister's shadow. But it is fitting that they died together.

Nearly 10 years in the show together and Max and Roxy didn't shag, not once. Colour me gobsmacked.

*.* at Ricky's moves and double *.* at Abi attempting the robot.

I wish I could think of a reason why Glenda could keep coming back.

That final scene of the girls in the swimming pool was chilling!!

I am really going to miss the 2 of them! Both have always been incredible actresses and will definitely have a lasting legacy

I watched the brief alternative ending on the BBC_One Snapchat, it looks like Roxy was going to die (on a snooker table?) and showed Ronnie crying in the hospital. So Roxy was always going to be killed off :(
I just feel sorry for the kids. Imagine being stuck with Jack as your only parent...

I was very disappointed by the episode. It was a very underwhelming exit for two characters who have become pretty iconic in their time. Beautifully shot, of course, but lacking the impact that the characters and actresses deserve (and in a couple of weeks nobody will care that it was shot well.) I am expecting a hugely powerful and emotional couple of weeks whilst Ronnie and Roxy are mourned and the impact of their deaths is felt across the square. Otherwise I will give up all hope on Eastenders.

(I am really enjoying Lee's storyline though, to give the show its due.)

I thought the episode was beautifully shot and well done so I can't really complain much... Ideally I would have liked them to just go off to their new place, leave a little drama behind so that there's is the option to return in the future as both were iconic characters. As cliché as it is, I would have even preferred a more dramatic death scene, iconic characters deserve a big exit. I guess that episode as a whole will go down in EE history though, despite their deaths not being all that shocking, not just because of the leaks and rumours but because of the amount of obvious hints and foreshadowing the did during the lead up

I've been thinking constantly about the episode since it aired and I intend to rewatch in full because it just keeps getting better in my head.

It's hard to believe they are actually gone and I'll definitely miss them - something I can't say of any departure in a long time. It's probably the most impactful death since Pat or Heather. For the record, despite the fact I'll miss them, I quite like the fact they've died because you've got a complete story arc and can appreciate what happened in that time frame. People say it was a mistake that Tiffany and Cindy were killed off just because they were popular, but sometimes a death like that can be good. The show managed to go on without them and the same will happen now.

Yeah I think they had to die really. As I said, no matter how much happened to them, how many relationships, children, opportunities and hardships faced them, they always ended up back together so to die together with one last tragic ending was perfect. I also agree that Ronnie really had nowhere to go, in fact I'd argue she probably should have been killed off 2015 New Year when she nearly died. Since then her characterisation has been rather iffy, largely due to all this mother of the year pillar of the community crap that defined her in 2016 just because Jack came back and she was a happy family with him for a bit. Roxy had a bit more potential and it would have been nice to see her without Ronnie but if she was already at rock bottom Ronnie's death might have just sent her over the edge to die of a drug overdose or something.

Amy is going to be a very interesting character in the future now if Jack sticks around. When was the last time a mother was killed off with a child who was old enough to remember her yet still young? Matthew probably won't remember Ronnie (sucks that she died on his birthday tho) and the last one I can think of is Heather but George was really young.

Amy to be nu Janine.

Trina (Lucas' ex) died when Jordan was about 12 and Debbie Bates died when Clare was still a young teenager, but that's all I can recall. Janine is definitely the best example of someone who lost their mother young and it ended up having an effect throughout their life.
I must admit I'm going to miss them, but they do always stick together, so in a way, its a perfect ending. The alternative ending on a snooker table  well I'm glad they didn't go with that, probably get bashed with a snooker ball/ stick  not quite dramatic

It was staring me in the face, but Cindy died when Steven was 8 and Peter and Lucy 4.

Bobby's mum died when he wasn't even a year old although not remembering her didn't stop him becoming a psycho.
