September 7, 20168 yr I've only voted for semi 2 so far so I'll be here for the semi 2 listenthrough! Can't we kind of guess who you voted for in what order by looking at the odds thread....
September 7, 20168 yr I am gonna judge everyone voting for Buzzjack Mountain. I lnow some of y'all will ironically stan, but just know that I am judging Judge away, I'm permabanning every single one of them
September 7, 20168 yr Judge away, I'm permabanning every single one of them This is blackmail, you cannot threaten BJSC entrants merely for voting for an entry you do not like, I thought as a moderator, you would encourage democratic voting procedures in BJSC without the need for threats. Edited September 7, 20168 yr by TheSnake
September 7, 20168 yr Author Can't we kind of guess who you voted for in what order by looking at the odds thread.... :lol:Eh, not really. Odds are subjective anyway and the ones I posted are the ones I feel are gonna end up doing really well judging by the song's sound, as well as the reactions from the showcase and the semis opening.
September 7, 20168 yr Just about finished with my first semi 1 listen through. There are only a handful of songs that I know will definitely have my vote, although I do have a list of the songs that I did enjoy something about. I'm hoping my remaining votes become more clear to me after a second hearing everything in tonight's plug session!
September 7, 20168 yr Eh, not really. Odds are subjective anyway and the ones I posted are the ones I feel are gonna end up doing really well judging by the song's sound, as well as the reactions from the showcase and the semis opening. So basically in the odds the futuristic ones go at the top and the less futuristic at the bottom (that's why Average White Band has the lowest odds)?
September 7, 20168 yr Author So basically in the odds the futuristic ones go at the top and the less futuristic at the bottom (that's why Average White Band has the lowest odds)? That was purely coincidental
September 7, 20168 yr That was purely coincidental There is however a big trend towards futuristic music at the moment in the charts (like future bass, pitched vocal effects etc), so naturally BJSC odds would reflect that.Â
September 7, 20168 yr BJSC following chart trends is a lot more rare than you'd think. I'd say only about half of our participants follow the charts and when you're voting for what you'd like, no one cares about whether the music is on trend.
September 7, 20168 yr I personally think the Buzzjack Mountain song *could've* been a lot worse  I could've provided vocals on itÂ
September 7, 20168 yr I think taste probably does come into odds sometimes, but not in a biased way. I know that sometimes if I really take to a song I think to myself "surely this will smash" and put it it highly. But that doesn't really matter, odds aren't actual results and it's not like people are going to be persuaded to vote for something because someone put it highly on odds. Odds are just a nice little extra predictor and a bit of fun to see what outperforms expectations for example.
September 7, 20168 yr I guess you can't make a case for bjsc truly following chart trends when songs like 99 Luchtballonnen can win (no shade), that's the beauty of the contest it is usually very varied.
September 7, 20168 yr Author Three of the past seven winners ("Sanctuary", "10.000 Luchtballonnen", "Higher") weren't dance or dance-influenced
September 7, 20168 yr i was actually going through the winners yday and remember hyperventilating being the winner in the first contest I entered and was wondering if sent this contest would it still win? I feel like the taste is defo more alt now. when I joined lew and Chris I remember joined at the same time so that's already 3 ppl with a bit less poppy tastes and there's been a load more since
September 7, 20168 yr this is why I'd love to see a contest like that (not rly old ones with obvious songs) re done. would be rly interesting to see how the results would differ
September 7, 20168 yr this is why I'd love to see a contest like that (not rly old ones with obvious songs) re done. would be rly interesting to see how the results would differ We have Reloaded contests every once in a while where contests are redone in chronological order (in the spin-off forum) but I kinda agree with what Iz said in a thread somewhere about how maybe we should choose specific contests to re-do, because otherwise it just takes forever to go through them all in order, and they're not really garnering that much interest at the moment. The tricky part is choosing which ones to re-do of course, I'm not quite sure how that would work, some kind of poll? idk I've put together my votes, it was quite a difficult process this time around, will send in a min! x
September 7, 20168 yr I personally think the Buzzjack Mountain song *could've* been a lot worse I could've provided vocals on it But you said you were a good vocalist....anyway Doctor Blind's ooh ooh ooh vocals are great I think (but then i am biased)....Â
September 7, 20168 yr Tbh I think Buzzjack Mountain is just unlucky this time that there is another song in the same genre of weird sounding looped house in its semi final. The Mulgracia entry Edited September 7, 20168 yr by TheSnake
