November 14, 20169 yr Nobody is saying it's bad, but her last album went 7x platinum, was the highest selling album of 2012, almost the highest selling album of 2013 too! It spawned lots of hit singles. It's not like this up hasn't had big radio support and decent promo, it's had both. The singles have under-performed and the album, whilst selling, isn't doing as well as I imagine her record label would have predicted. Olly's popularity has greatly decreased over the past 2 years and I don't think anyone expected him to beat her in the album chart. I take your points but I never expected Emeli to have a huge first week total. The singles have underperformed but I think that was to be expected given the long wait and the way the singles chart is going now with established artists not charting as high. I didn't think Emeli would have people rushing out to buy her album on release day but I think she could keep selling at a good rate. I think people need to judge her properly and Olly too after Christmas.
November 14, 20169 yr The report from yesterday was for Friday sales, the one for today will also include Saturday sales as well as those from yesterday. Ok thanks for the clarification, on that basis Emeli's Sales were more than Olly's on Saturday (approx 1k) so shows the difference after the X Factor Performance for Olly!
November 14, 20169 yr 3 Cliff Richard - Just...Fabulous Rock N Roll (24.2k) A welcome return for Sir Cliff. He is on "Loose Women" tomorrow on ITV so should maintain his sales. Good luck to Cliff on his return but first track on the Album seems a bit of a cash-in - a duet with Elvis Presley! There was even a facebook campaign for this track to happen "Let Cliff record with Elvis" by the looks of it, got 1032 likes. Smacks a little bit of riding on the wave of Elvis' recent re-recording success...looks like it is working and he will probably usurp Elvis from number 3.
November 14, 20169 yr I don't get why they labeling it a flop you could say if olly doesn't sell 100k then he a flop and even if she only gets around 60k that would have been no1 almost every other week Yes its no Adele size comeback but Adele is in another league and its hardly a duffy sale scenario she only got to number 9 on a lot lower sales
November 14, 20169 yr Wonderful to see Olly Murs sitting at the top, initially when i saw he was releasing the same week as Emeli Sande i thought he had no chance of number 1 so i am thrilled with this outcome so far. Nathan Skyes, it would be wonderful if he can manage to stay top 20 and likewise for Sting to remain Top 10 but its unlikely, as his last few albums have also missed out on a top 10 placement. What a welcome surprise to see Enigma back in the top 40 and it would be lovely if Enigma manage to stay there. Little Mix and James Arthur will battle for number 2 and i would like Little Mix to hold the position.
November 14, 20169 yr For those that are still a little unsure of who PJ Harvey is there is a new Ultimate Music Guide that has hit the shelves this week: As PJ Harvey ends another momentous year, Uncut’s Ultimate Music Guide to PJ Harvey provides a definitive guide to one of the most vital British artists of the past 25 years. May yet push her Album back into Top 200...
November 14, 20169 yr What a comeback for Nathan Sykes after his last single tanked - Top 30 single and Top 15 album on the way. After his XF performance I wouldn't be surprised if the single went Top 20 and album Top 10 (Or at least remained stable).

November 14, 20169 yr Hopefully we'll see 6 new entries this week - Olly, Vaults, Nathan, Robbie, Nevada and Sigma.
November 14, 20169 yr Let's not bring back that PJ Harvey discussion, please :banghead: Where is Gaga ? #39!
November 14, 20169 yr The reason I think this is bad for Emeli aside from being a pretty bad first week from her is, I can't realistically see her picking up afterwards. Last time she had smash hit singles that were everywhere and her ubiquitous presence that enticed people to buy her album. This time she does not have that, and I can't see future singles really doing much from here on out.
November 14, 20169 yr Lol at Emeli's weak sales, much prefer Olly Murs to continue that record album record streak of his! Most of those entries are average to awful so nothing exciting about this week's chart again, I imagine most will be out by Friday anyway.
November 14, 20169 yr She passes 100k in Q1 and won't pass 100k in Q4 and how he's ahead of her? On iTunes, she's been #1 the whole time so I reckon she'll get #1 on album downloads. Still unfair that he's beating someone who's a bigger name than he is How is it unfair? He's selling more copies.

November 14, 20169 yr Emeli a bigger name than Olly? she had a huge album cycle and that's it, Olly is outdoing her with his 5th album. Don't forget this is the same brainiac who wished Radio 1 would stop trying to make Adele happen.
November 14, 20169 yr if you consider how big her album was and the decent promo/airplay she's had, opening with 45-50K is disappointing, not the biggest car crash ever but it's disappointing nonetheless... think it's really due to the songs, Hurts was great but it's clear it didn't connect with the masses like her old singles... and sadly I checked the album and there are no hidden future hits, nothing is gonna save this era... and yes she waited a lot, but bare in mind she couldn't have released 1 year ago cos of Adele, she would have had to sit on it even if the album was finished... what surprises me is how come she hasn't come with better material, she's got 5 years, thats a lot of time to write stuff... even the song she did with Alicia Keys on her Girl on Fire album (Brand New me) is better than anything on this album...
November 14, 20169 yr Anyone else having trouble accessing the midweeks? When I try and open the link it just says "Error retrieving this chart, please try again later"
November 14, 20169 yr Ooh I'm pleased to see Olly is on course for another #1 album (even if 'Grow Up' is a bit shit, at least 'You Don't Know Love' was pretty good). Continuing to match the album peaks of 1D. I was expecting it to either be Emeli of Robbie for a second week, the latter prediction clearly way off, oops! Yess at 'Black Beatles' being in the top 10 singles *.*
