December 5, 20168 yr First: big YES at "Lane Boy" being a part of the "future hits" category, certainly the best of the entire album.
December 5, 20168 yr Author HATECHART: 2016 Time to get bitter and nasty x 1. Lukas Graham- 7 Years - Yeah, what else was it going to be. By miles and miles ahead at the top spot for the worst song of 2016, one of the worst horrors I have ever had to endure, comfortably taking a place in my top 5 worst songs of all time alongside previous hatechart winners American Beauty/American Psycho and of course All of f*cking shit. Saying this is nearly as bad as the latter says it all. The song is awful, the lyrics don't make sense, the singer can't sing, the song is screechy, its dull, its horrific, I don't like them and they seem pretty arrogant and this is definitely going to go down as by far the worst #1 in a very, very, very long time. 2. Coldplay ft. Beyonce- Hymn For The Weekend - Most overrated song of the year. By utter miles. Chris Martin is as horrendous as ever vocally wise and the lyrics are utterly dreadful. I detest the production and the song annoys me so much whenever I hear it. Possibly the worst Coldplay song yet, which says it all. 3. Calum Scott- Dancing On My Own - Let's ruin an utter cracker of a pop song and turn it into one of the most boring, soulless, screechiest, horrificly vocal wise covers and suck all the life out of the original which made it incredible, and then sell about 20x more. Can't put into words enough my hate for this crap. 4. Drake- One Dance - Just beyond offensive because of how bloody long this absolute piece of nothing of a song spent at #1. Like I still barely get the appeal, it took me ages to remember what it sounded like when it was released and is overrated to the high heavens. 5. Rae Sremmured ft. Gucci Mane- Black Beatles - Let's hope Rockabye continues to keep this crap away from #1. Everything about it is awful and it is just so much horrific noise. 6. The 1975- The Sound - Possibly the worst band in recent years, which really says something. The video is a strong contender for the worst of the year (just saved from that crown by giggling girls who don't shut up and watch their friend having sex) and this is dull, monotenous and one of the worst songs in a while. 7. Drake- Controlla - The fact this kept hanging around #19-#25 was infuriating. Especially when a song is as shit and as tuneless as one like this. 8. Sigala ft. John Newman- Give Me Your Love - By FAR the worst thing Sigala have ever done. Newman's vocals are utterly dreadful as ever (just realised I forgot to include Ole, that can have a honorary mention) and the production is also dreadful. 9. Frans- If I Were Sorry - Thank gosh this crap didn't win Eurovision and was beaten by true Queens of Life such as Dami and Polina *.* So horrendous in every way possible. 10. Desiigner- Panda - What a bloody racket and bunch of noise. Utterly horrendous, probably even worse than Trap Queen 11. Kanye West- Famous - This really deserves top 10 but oh well. The lyrics are disgusting and the 'song' is diabolical also 12. Calvin Harris- My Way - No. Possibly the worst thing he has ever done. 13. Giggs- Lock Doh - No. 14. John Legend- Love Me Now - Manages to miss the top 10 this year after scoring two consecutives #1 with the piece of shit. Well this is unsurprisingly beyond painfully dreadfully horrific 15. Bruno Mars- 24k Magic - Utterly hate this, shame as I used to love him :( 16. Cheat Codes- Sex - Lyrically and musically dreadful 17. Nevada ft. Mark Morrison & Fetty Wap- The Mack - So bloody diabolical and pointless, only not higher as have only heard it once but that's enough to get it this high. 18. Digital Farm Animals & Cash Cash ft. Nelly- Millionaire - 3 minutes of noise + the constant x-factor ad breaks didn't help this at all 19. Dizzee Rascal ft. Calvin Harris- Hype - 3 minutes of noise 20. Blonde ft. Craig David- Nothing Like This - Really awful and disappointing by both their standards 21. Coldplay - Up & Up - Up there with their worst, which says a lot. Thankfully haven't heard it much 22. One Direction- History - Well at least they've finally broken up 23. Mike Posner- Ibiza - Don't hate it as much as I used to but still boring, awful and he rly can't sing 24. Maroon 5 ft. Kendrick Lamar- Don't Wanna Know - One of the worst tropical house songs yet. And Adam Levine. No more needs to be said. 25. Lil Wayne ft. the entire world- Sucker For Pain - See Love Me comment below 26. Years & Years- Meteorite - See Love Me comment below 27. The 1975- Love Me - Would be higher cause its so crap but thankfully haven't heard it much 28. Nathan Sykes- Famous - So boring and awful. 29. Jason Derulo- Get Ugly - No. Better than Wiggle and Trumpets though. 30. Justin Bieber- Company - Think this made my hatechart last year, its so bad it deserves another appearance 31. Drake ft. Rihanna- Too Good - He's done worse 32. Drake- Fake Love - See the Pop Style comment lower down 33. The Weeknd ft. Daft Punk- Starboy - Yh this is rly crap and overrated 34. The Chainsmokers ft. Halsey- Closer - This would probs be higher if I didn't adore Halsey. Generic rubbish 35. Zay Hilfiggerr & Zayion McCall- Juju On The Beat - Only not higher cause thank f*ck I've only heard it once 36. James Arthur- Say You Won't Let Go - So bloody boring but tbh this could have been a lot higher, his best song yet though that doesn't say much at all 37. Niall Horan- This Town - So bloody boring 38. The Vamps ft. Omi- I Found A Girl - The 2nd/3rd era have both been horrendous 39. Dawin ft. Silento- Desert - Bunch of noise 40. Reggie N Bollie- New Girl - As bad as expected 41. Jax Jones- House Work - Only not higher as barely remember what it sounds like 42. Jay Sean- Make My Love Go - Crap like everything else he's done bar 'Down' 43. Nathan Sykes- Give It Up - Should've followed that advice 44. Drake- Summer Sixteen - See above 45. Drake- Pop Style - Escapes being higher by barely ever hearing it 46. DNCE- Toothbrush - Their worst so far. 47. Cheat Codes- Whatever their 2nd single was - Horrendous. 48. Gnash ft. Olivia O'Brien- I Hate U, I Love U - Beyond dull. 49. Rihanna- Needed Me - Rubbish. 50. ZAYN- Like I Would - No. 51. Calvin Harris ft. Rihanna- This Is What You Came For - So generic and awful
December 6, 20168 yr You won't like my EOY chart then :( I do agree with the Drake tracks though, I'm not sure why they ever became so popular
December 6, 20168 yr 51. This Is What You Came For [9.0] 50. Like I Would [xx] Haven't heard this 49. Needed Me [5.5] I would give Work a "5.0". (Fun Fact: I actually have a CD copy of Good Girl Gone Bad) 48. i hate u i love u [4.0] Might be one of my least favourite songs of 2016, despite this not getting such a low score. 47. Their 2nd single was "Let Me Hold You" [6.0] (Wait! Did they just rework that Kevin Lyttle jam from 2003?! Better than Sex) 46. Toothbrush [5.0] 45. Pop Style [6.0] Haven't heard the Views album, but I have heard this a couple of times on some Billboard Hot 100 videos. BTW, It seems that rap songs have been using a lot of Frank Dukes samples lately (including this song, and Drake sampled another song by the same artist in "0 to 100 - The Catch Up" and Kendrick also sampled a Dukes song in "untitled 07") 44. Summer Sixteen [6.0] 43. Give It Up [xx] LMAO at "He should have taken that advice". Not interested in Nathan 42. Make My Love Go [5.0] I liked Dance With You, Eyes On You, and Down is quite a jam. The moment I heard this song, I already knew the lyrics reference to Maxi Priest - Close To You in the chorus, because I heard the Maxi original in a 100 Hits 90's Anthems comp. 41. House Work [7.0] 40. New Girl [??] 39. Dessert [4.5] (I thought the song title said "Desert" (as in "Desert Island") when I first saw it on a playlist) 38. I Found A Girl [xx] Vamps are not really my cup of tea. (Speaking of OMI, the Felix Jaehn remix of Cheerleader is a guilty pleasure for me) 37. This Town [5.0] 36. Say You Won't Let Go [5.0] 35. Juju On That Beat [??] 34. Closer [6.5] (I liked Selfie [guilty pleasure], Roses, and Don't Let Me Down. I find this okay and All We Know is a "meh" for me.) 33. Starboy [9.0] (This and False Alarm are my favourites from his new album. The latter had such a badass action-packed music video) 32. Fake Love [6.0] (I saw this pop up on a Best + Worst Tracks Of The Week video by TheNeedleDrop. TND described it as a "boring Hotline Bling") 31. Too Good [5.5] 30. Company [??] (Bieber's not my cup of tea, but I did like What Do You Mean and Sorry. this and Love Yourself are "meh" for me.) 29. Get Ugly [5.0] 28. Famous [Nathan] [xx] (See comment for 43) 27. Love Me [7.5] (Didn't I see this popup in the 2015 hatechart?. "i like it when you sleep..." album [nominated for the Mercury Prize (losing to Skepta's Konnichiwa), Number one on NME's Best 2016 Albums List, even Q Mag praised this. Kinda overrated, though I would give the album "7.5"]) 26. Meteorite [7.0] (Didn't like it as much as the majority of Communion [which I have a CD copy of], but I still like it) 25. Sucker For Pain [7.0] (Like this, but if I had to choose a favourite from what I've heard from the Suicide Squad soundtrack, it would probably have to be Purple Lamborghini by a small margin) 24. Don't Wanna Know [6.5] 23. Posner Ibiza [8.0] (This and Cooler Than Me, I like) 22. History [5.0] 21. Up&Up [8.5] (I actually own Head Full Of Dreams on CD, along with the rest of their albums [except for Mylo Xyloto and Ghost Stories, I have yet to get those]. The music video is one of my favourites of 2016 [i like the part where the skydivers dive into a boul of soup  ], but the best music video of 2016 imo would have to be Radiohead's Burn The Witch or David Bowie's Lazarus [probably the latter]) 20. Nothing Like This [8.0] 19. Hype [7.5] 18. Millionaire [5.5] 17. The Mack [7.0] (Liking this, though it will never top the 1996 original) 16. Sex [4.5] (There's something that turns me off about this song. [1991 Salt-N-Pepa original>Cheat Codes], despite me not liking it as much as Push It and Whatta Man) 15. 24k Magic [8.5] (He's a dangerous man with some money in his pocket) 14. Love Me Now [5.5] (I used to know him as the guy who collaborated with Kanye and Common long before he did that 2014 hit song) 13. Lock Doh [6.0] (I have liked quite a lot of rap albums this year. Skepta's Konnichiwa, Kano's Made In The Manor, Kendrick Lamar's untitled unmastered compilation, Danny Brown's Atrocity Exhibition, Tribe Called Quest's excellent comeback album We Got It From Here Thank You 4 Your Service, and De La Soul's and the Anonymous Nobody. Have let to listen to Landlord but I might want to) 12. My Way [8.5] 11. Famous [Kanye] [4.0] (Didn't really like the "Kanye claims he made Taylor Swift famous in the 2009 VMA's" references in this song. I like quite a lot of his songs like "Gold Digger", "Through The Wire", and "Touch The Sky", but this one... no. I do quite like Fade though.) 10. Panda [5.0] (Used to like it when they played it at my school's gym, but I kinda grew out of it) 9. If I Were Sorry [??] (Don't know this very well. My favourites from Eurovision are 1944 [the lyrics were great and the beat reminds me of Four Tet a bit], You Are The Only One [i was amazed by the way Serjey was flying through the night sky in his performance], Heartbeats and Walk On Water) 8. Give Me Your Love [8.0] (Sigala's best would have to be Easy Love.) 7. Controlla [6.5] (I like the synths and the electronic drums of this) 6. The Sound [8.5] (I actually bought iliwysfyasbysuoi (had to put it initials cause the album's title is so long) from a charity shop. Haven't seen the video except for the part where it said something about hating Chocolate. BTW, what was that song with the "giggling girls while watching their friend do stuff" music video. Haven't seen it.) 5. Black Beatles [somewhere between 5.5 and 6.0] (So this is the Mannequin Challenge song) 4. One Dance [6.5] (though I was quite annoyed by it's long run on the top, due to the streaming thing. It was so close to beating Bryan Adams' consecutive number one record [16 consecutive weeks at Number 1], and didn't match Frankie Laine's I Believe record [18 non-consecutive weeks at Number 1]) 3. Dancing On My Own [5.0] (Meh! Robyn did it better!) 2. Hymn For The Weekend [9.0] (I actually like this one, but my favourites by them would have to be Paradise, Viva La Vida, Yellow, Clocks, and Adventure Of A Lifetime) 1. 7 Years [5.0] Like the hatechart! Edited December 6, 20168 yr by DalekTurret32
December 6, 20168 yr So many great tunes in your hate chart :( One that I certainly agree with though is Hymn For The Weekend. That could possibly be the most boring song I've heard all year. Didn't help that it stayed in the chart for an absolute age as well.
December 6, 20168 yr If we ignore the Drake appearances :kink: that's not too bad a hate chart. 7 Years I don't mind tho although it did get far too overplayed. Hymn For The Weekend is indeed overrated but it's a lot better than Adventure Of A Lifetime at least! Dancing On My Own I don't hate but it certainly stuck around far too long. Good to see If I Were Sorry, 24K Magic, The Mack, Sucker For Pain & Get Ugly high - dislike all of those! Some of the comments
December 10, 20168 yr Author Spotify top 100 coming v late tonight or tomorrow! Any predictions for what u expect to see between #1-#100?!
December 10, 20168 yr Yassss Sam. You summed up a lot of my thoughts about Hymn For The Weekend. Extremely overrated. I don't hate it but it's really not as great as everyone makes out & both artists have done way better.
December 16, 20168 yr Thank god someone else hates 24k Magic, it's horrific :( I also of course approve of Callum taking a battering, horrendous cover of a brilliant song as you said! I can't stand when covers strip away everything that makes a song good in the first place. 7 Years would probably take the biscuit for me too though if not Calum Scott. His vocals are painful and it's just so plodding, it's like the textbook way to make a shit radio fodder chart hit :drama:

December 17, 20168 yr didn't realise you were such a fan of Perfect Illusion, I imagine your actual EOY will look quite different though but hopefully Starving, Don't Let Me Down, Final Song and Work From Home retain their top 10 positions.
December 17, 20168 yr My opinion ratings for the songs I've heard from the Spotify Top 100 01. Lady Gaga- Perfect Illusion [7.5] 02. Mø- Final Song [8.5] (Those syncopated drums in the chorus. Did I mention these before?) 05. Fifth Harmony ft. Ty Dolla Sign- Work From Home [4.5] 09. The Chainsmokers ft. Daya- Don't Let Me Down [9.0] 10. Hailee Steinfeld & Grey ft. Zedd- Starving [5.5] 11. I feel bad for charting them at 75 [KYHU] and 76 [Wild Horses], because they're great. BTW, Have you heard the original Skinny Love from 2007 [done by Bon Iver]) 52. Ward Thomas- Guilty Flowers [8.0] (Sounds quite good, I might want to listen to the album Cartwheels someday) 53. Dami Im- Sound Of Silence [8.0] (Hello darkness, my old friend! :P ) 54. Little Mix ft. Sean Paul- Hair [5.0] 58. Nick Jonas ft. Tove Lo- Close [5.0] (I saw a dank meme with this song in it, and when they say "clooosee" and/or "oohhhh", it is replaced with a clip of a news reporter yelling while being scared of an insect flying towards him) 59. December 18, 20168 yr Hi Uv I'm not too fussed on 7 Years anymore so not too bothered about seeing it at #1, I actually really liked it for about 2 weeks but it got old SO quickly and in the end just far too overplayed, don't go back to it at all anymore. I pretty much like everything else in your top 10 though apart from Controlla, that did just get infuriating when it was in the section for so long and wasn't going. It's so forgettable, the only bit I know is 'like controlla'
December 19, 20168 yr Hailee and The Chainsmokers making it into the top 10 of your spotify 100 though  and all the yaaas for lane boy being a future hit ^_^ but why so much hate for the 1975 :(
December 19, 20168 yr Don't Worry slaying Spotify <3 What a tune, can't wait to see what she brings to Melfest this year *.*
December 19, 20168 yr Wow, Mollie's pretty high in that! :o Wonder if that might underperform? It didn't hold up very well for me anyway :(
