November 24, 20177 yr I don't understand why him / his team are so DESPERATE for a #01, when he's had a hugely successful era anyway?!!
November 24, 20177 yr I don't understand why him / his team are so DESPERATE for a #01, when he's had a hugely successful era anyway?!! For exactly the same reason every other artist in history  Why settle for one #1 when you can get two? If this remix pays off (which it doesn't even need to really, Perfect has been amazingly successful in reaching the Top 10 again) then it just goes to show how strategic and strong his marketing team is. Say what you want about Ed, he knows how to run an album campaign. Perfect for me has grown a lot as I've heard it on the radio lately. I enjoyed it on the album but I generally gravitated towards the more upbeat songs and shrugged Perfect off along with Happier/Hearts Don't Break Around Here - however this does stand up there with Thinking Out Loud now. A decent, non entirely trend chasing remix and some live performances and it could easily go #1. Hopefully after Rita Ora has bagged at least one week there though
November 25, 20177 yr I don't understand why him / his team are so DESPERATE for a #01, when he's had a hugely successful era anyway?!!Tbf, he's done everything but receive the "Christmas Number 1". So, depending on charity tracks and stuff, I would imagine that's kinda what they want to go for. His team are on the ball though. It's just a shame he's become so bland with it all. :(
November 25, 20177 yr Difference between Westlife which Ed is getting a lot of comparisons with is that ed at least wrote most of his songs! What's wrong with promoting a single??
November 30, 20177 yr Wild thought but what if the Perfect remix on Friday is like a Christmas Remix featuring Mariah Carey or someone
November 30, 20177 yr Rita may just take the number 1 this week as she is so close if this happens i would welcome Ed Sheeran going to number 1 next week.
December 1, 20177 yr I prefer the original tbh :( Beyoncé adds nothing and I prefer the instrumental of the original.
December 1, 20177 yr The production on the original has much more oompf. But it's really nice to hear Beyoncé on a pop hit again. Especially as it reminds me of 'Avé Maria' by her and that's one of my Bey faves. It's nice, but not really exciting.
December 1, 20177 yr I realized recently that Perfect seems to be inspired by Eric Clapton's song Wonderful Tonight, especially in the bit 'you look perfect tonight'. Note the snow falling in the lyric video possibly a hint at targeting the Christmas number 1 race.
December 3, 20177 yr Ed has said that a 3rd version will be released before Christmas They say these things come in threes. :arrr:
December 3, 20177 yr even the people defending Ed in this can't deny this is blatant chart manipulation to get the christmas #1. yes, any artist could do it but the point is that they DON'T do it... he's ruining what has been a level playing field for all all year.

Same again why wouldn't you want to get Christmas #1? It's not as if he's forcing these people to listen and buy the new Perfect remix. The charts are nearly always manipulated and the X Factor have been releasing their winner's single year after year close to Christmas to get the #1 so last year was the first in a long time that the Christmas #1 had not been manipulated. Katy Perry had like 3 or 4 tagged on remixes in her Teenage Dream era and Little Mix regularly do the same so it does happen throughout the year too!
