The Labour Party emailed its members about 7pm urging them to buy the Jo Cox single, so expect a decent lift for it....

Yeah, it's already rising from that.

It's made a meteoric rise from #15 to #13. Watch out Clean Bandit!

(it is dark green on Kworb but still not exactly increasing that quickly yet...)

Its actually #12-- but interesting to see the next 2 hours...

(Interesting in that I have a bet on CB :0(

Has there been any news coverage for any of the charity songs today?

Would love Clean Bandit to be Xmas #1.

Backing Mariah or XF to get number 1.

Same, I can see her rising to #1 on Spotify for a couple of days after this weekend, but I do worry she might suffer on iTunes a bit. She's not even top 10 combined. Carpool oddly had no effect here. It's having a huge effect in the US.

I'm expecting Jo Cox to climb into the top 10 in due course, and it might takeoff over the weekend, but at this point I can't see it getting anywhere near the #1, unfortunately :(
They'd have been better off covering a famous song like The Lewisham & Greenwich NHS Choir did last year by successfully merging Coldplay's Fix You with Simon & Garfunkel's A Bridge Over Troubled Water.

I wouldn't really call that a successful merging. It was quite unlistenable. :kink:

I feel like Lewisham & Greenwich was being written off at this point last year as we thought no one would ever stream them and then a HUGE push came before Christmas, so I'm not sure we can rule Friends of Jo Cox out just yet if there's a similar big push. That said, it's less likely London Hospice Choir being alongside it would be harming it's progress it'd certainly be a little hard for the main publicity to focus on one and not the other for fear of looking bad. I expected it number 1 by now, especially with how low sales are on iTunes...

I'd be all for a 'normal' song getting it though, it would probably be quite depressing sales, but it may open the floodgates for other 'normal' releases to be tried over Christmas week rather than just charity records.

The thing with these campaigns is that they always have the same pattern of huge decreases and sudden jumps all week.

Really hoping Clean Bandit can keep #1 just for the sake of stopping these annoying campaigns every year - I like the idea of charity singles, but when the Christmas #1 isn't really any kind of achievement any more because of them, it'd be nice if they'd give it a break for a few years.

It pretty much depends on how much promotion the Jo Cox campaign gets this week, but it'd need to be selling at about 10 times the rate it is now to stand a chance!
