I'm free to be the greatest, I'm alive

71. Tove Lo – True Disaster

72. Lady Gaga – Dancin’ In Circles

73. Christine and the Queens - Tilted

74. Sia ft. Kendrick Lamar - The Greatest

75. Frances Rose - Dangerous

76. Charlie Puth ft. Selena Gomez – We Don’t Talk Anymore

77. Fifth Harmony – That’s My Girl

78. Olly Murs - Read My Mind

79. Shawn Mendes – Treat You Better

80. Fergie - M.I.L.F. $

We start proceedings with one of my favourite music videos of the year from Fergie and also one of my guilty pleasure songs. Shawn returns with an ode to lovers out there pining for the one they want with his very relatable 'Treat You Better'. An album track from Olly and another from FH (with 3 more to come from them :o). Charlie Puth who have resented for a while because of the monstrosity he put us through last year teamed up with Selena to offer this beauty and all has sort of been forgiven~ Another BJSC song this time channelling Carly/Taylor circa 1989 with the sublime 'Dangerous'. Sia had a humongous year, cementing herself as pop icon and firm fave for me and this is one of a few tracks to enter my top 100 from her, some of which are to feature very highly so stay tuned ~ Christine and the Queens Tilted was a go to track on my adventures in Borneo, reminding me of back home and a more calming state of being while turns it up a few notches with a track that perhaps most closely resembles her early days with Dancin' In Circles - I was wanting this to be a single but i'm really not sure if it would work at all now lmao. Tove Lo had a mixed bag of a year but she's still very capable of producing pop GEMS as True Disaster proved *.*

Hi Bal !

What is Charlie Puth's monstrosity from last year for you? I hope it's See You Again and not the jam that is Marvin Gaye  WDTA is definitely his best track yet though, I love the back and forth between him and Selena

The Greatest is now my second favourite Sia track behind Elastic Heart now, it took a while to grow but it's so uplifting and I love the lyrics

Happy Xmas x :D

Hi Haus!

Nice mixed bag in your 100 so far! Say You Do my highlight so far, could never ever get bored of that

Sugar was a superb entry from yourself, hope it can perform well in Rejects!

True Disaster  Definitely the song on Lady Wood I associate most with the Tove I fell in love with, but it still fits perfectly within the themes and sound on the album!

That's My Girl is such a banger as well, just huge <3

I'm on top now

61. Clean Bandit feat. Sean Paul & Anne-Marie - Rockabye

62. Lady Gaga - Grigio Girls

63. The 1975 - The Sound

64. CAPPA - I'm Good

65. Benjamin - Rich Girl

66. All Saints – This is War

67. Beyoncé - Formation

68. Lady Gaga – Sinner’s Prayer

69. The Weeknd – False Alarm

70. Little Mix - You Gotta Not

Firmly team LOVE on LM's Meghan penned banger, with some choice lyrics but insanely catchy chorus and hook. Haters, you gotta not  We feature what is perhaps my video of the year (or at least in my top 3!) with The Weeknd's explosive 'False Alarm' which is anything but false, but totally alarming. Lady Gaga has two tracks both of which are very underrated and GG gets an extra boost because i'm such a Pinot lover myself <3 Beyoncé's anthemic Formation isn't my favourite song from her this year but aided by the video it did make an impact on me. All Saints feature with their beautifully whimsical war-torn ballad and Benjamin brings the party with his all too relatable Rich Girl discarding material things for a purer love with a tropical twist ~ The 1975 who i've never really been too fond on, sell-out a little and the result is this brilliant, catchy bop. Another BJSC entry this time from Cappa who have featured highly in my EOY charts previously and finally the current UK #1 with a heap of stars rockets towards a mid table finish.

Hey there!

Faves from this batch are Rockabye, The Sound, and False Alarm. The latter of which was a great promo single, the urgency of it is what makes it one of my favourite tracks off Starboy.

Also nice to see so much Gaga love, the Joanne album is very underrated - it's a shame that she hasn't managed much success with it (although it has been good to see Million Reasons reach the UK Top 40). I really hope she has a good pick for the third single, she really needs it to stay relevant :(

Great countdown so far :D

Hi Bal! Big catch up time ~

Ariana Grande and Sia make a fantastic Top 2 albums. Dangerous Woman is pop music at its finest: well-rounded, catchy and interesting that also deals with complex and mixed emotions about love, but you can enjoy the songs as superficially or as deeply as you wish. Madonna nailed that and set the standard, and Ariana has put her own, fresh spin on it. The singles are one of the best string of releases of 2016, then you've got such treasures of 'Moonlight', 'Greedy' and 'Thinking Bout You' that deserve just as much attention.

As you say, releasing an album full of rejected tracks and marketing it as an actual studio album and not just a 'treat for the fans' does not sound like the most convincing selling point, but almost all tracks from This is Acting are fantastic and most fit quite comfortably with who Sia is as an artist. 'Bird Set Free' is a great opening track, immediately hitting you with a truck-load of emotion as Sia reveals how music essentially saved her life, gave her purpose and a way to express and release her pain - "I don't care if I sing off key, I find myself in my melodies" is probably my favourite lyric on this album and I dare say one of my favourites of all time. 'Broken Glass' is up there with Sia's very best songs, maybe even second ('Breathe Me' will probably remain my favourite). Strangely, I don't think I noticed it on the first couple of listens (I think the first half was already so packed with huge greatness that I was so focused that) but, when it hit my attention, I was blown away. That chorus is just gigantic and I still get tingles whenever I listen to it, as if it was the first time again. Really gutted it doesn't look like it'll ever be a single because it needs as much recognition as it can get. 'One Million Bullets', 'House on Fire', 'Footprints' and 'Space Between' are also stunning, but I'll keep it short!

Some great tracks in your countdown so far: 'This is What You Came For', 'M.I.L.F. $', 'Tilted', 'True Disaster', 'Rockabye', the Gaga tracks... LOVE!

62. Lady Gaga - Grigio Girls

63. The 1975 - The Sound Easily my favourite of theirs so far, definitely a bit sell-out but all the better for it!

64. CAPPA - I'm Good Think this is my favourite BJSC of yours ever unless I've totally forgotten something!

65. Benjamin - Rich Girl

66. All Saints – This is a War

67. Beyoncé - Formation

68. Lady Gaga – Sinner’s Prayer

70. Little Mix - You Gotta Not do you still use a Bluetooth?

What a fab section, I like them all bar one x

Everybody give it up for Tinasha!

Hi Bal!

Didn't realise anyone liked Grigio Girls THAT much, it's a really nice track actually but I just sort of forget to go back to it much, it's not one of the most memorable for me  Sinner's Prayer is unfairly under-rated though, I agree with you there! It's a really gorgeous track, a shame nothing at all seems like it is properly going to take off from this era :(

You Gotta Not is a tune too, I quite like the lyrics and the personality is almost bursting out of the track which is always a lot of fun. I'd pick that over Power as a single any day, not sure what the love for that track is, it's one of the messiest tracks on the album imo :o

Thanks *.* Yay for Gaga loving, it's far from her best but it's a solid effort with plenty to go back to! Agree about False Alarm too, "urgent" is a brilliant way to describe it.

Glad you agree with Sia/Ariana - we're always quite in sync with our big pop loving. House on Fire, Footprints and Space Between are actually filler for me, but the rest I adore.

Men are good, men are bad and the war is never over

51. Lady Gaga – Diamond Heart

52. Fifth Harmony ft. Fetty Wap – All In My Head (Flex)

53. M.I.A. – Survivor

54. Katy B - I Wanna Be

55. ZAYN - PILLOWTALK

56. Little Mix - No More Sad Songs

57. Fifth Harmony - The Life

58. Banks - Trainwreck

59. Sada Vidoo – The Actress

60. Jojo ft. Remy Ma - FAB.

Favourite track of Jojo's album features first, dedicated to all the FAB people out there you know who you are  Sada Vidoo, the star of XF2016 for me features with her fairly old track, a stunning artist, person and voice all combined with quirky personality and a message of identification and standing out from the crowd. Banks' Trainwreck is anything but that, instead it's a high-speed train journey to the wild and wondrous parts of the artists' psyche. Two Fifth Harmon tracks drop out, reminding me once again how brilliant the summer was for me </3 and my favourite album track from LM's latest offering - surely has to be a single in the new year? ZAYN came back with this banger of a single and although I was never into it hugely, it became a staple for me throughout the year when I heard it in unexpected places. M.I.A. has a few tracks to feature but this one is one of her most open and beautiful songs, a lovely tone to her voice away from the harshness of some of her songs and a welcome change of pace. Katy B's strongest song from latest era and the album opener for Joanne (another "must be a single!!1" moment) setting the tone and mood of the album wonderfully ~

If you would have let me grow you could have kept my love

46. Ariana Grande ft. Nicki Minaj – Side to Side

47. Banks – f*** With Myself

48. Olly Murs – You Don’t Know Love

49. Benjamin ft. Sweet California - Man on the Moon

50. M.I.A. - Go Off

Just before the top 40 this set is full of several OMG SHOULD BE TOP 40 shouts!!1 Before that we have MIA with the sprightly, fist-bumping Go Off - a no f***s anthem. Benjamin's highlight comes with the assistance of Sweet California (no idea either), with the summer-tinged beauty which didn't really properly hit me until it got single treatment. Olly Murs channels some synth pop wonders, offering almost a male equivalent to the likes of 1989/EMOTION sounds and it works wonderfully. Banks' wins the award for song title of the year and narrowly misses out on a top 40 spot TWICE - Gemini Feed is lyrically one of the best of the year, it's so empowering! while Ariana teams up with Nicki with the explicit, romper featuring SO TRUE lyric "Ariana run pop~". Nimmo were a big new discovery for me and Dilute This was reinvigorated for me when they performed it as a support act at the Y&Y gig. Controlla from man of the moment is a JAM while Elliphant teams up with Gyptian (WHAT a pair) with the beautiful, lustful 'Love Me Long'. Final to fall short of the top 40 is a banging album track from Tkay - it reflects the frantic production of the album with the fun, tongue-in-cheek lyrics that the pint-sized rapper offers.
