Another signing would have been ideal to catch Ed Sheeran. 40,000 looks on lock for the album.

They'll probably end up about 10-15k adrift of Ed and I don't think any number of signings could overcome that, they've done their best and for a pure pop album to sell as much as it looks like it will is remarkable.

I just hope their sales don't fall off a cliff next week. I'm sure Radio 2 will continue to strongly support them, especially if it's true 'Story of a Heart' is the next single, which I'm sure they'll be all over, but what other promo, if any, do they have on the horizon?

Obviously #2 is still a huge achievement for them and so much more than any of us could have expected, so I am grateful for that, of course, but I just would like the album to have some surprise longevity, like even half the success Rick Astley's album had.

I don't think sales will drop away that quickly and it seems they will move forward with SOAH as it's already being added to streaming playlists etc.,

They always were one of the hardest working pop bands and the last week goes to prove it - they have literally done any snippet of promo they could.

I can't believe they are having such a successful comeback !!

Who would have thought ??? 😱

I think credit where it's due has to be given to Peter Loraine their manager. He pulled off the same feat he's achieved with Steps but with All Saints last year in bringing them back successfully, and it looks like he'll do the same with Bananarama later this year.

This is the man lest we forget who gave the Spice Girls their nicknames and fought Girls Aloud/The Saturdays' respective corners heavily whilst he was at Polydor. He knows his pop eggs incredibly well!

Almost everything has gone swimmingly well with this comeback, I'm made up for them! I'm particularly pleased that the album is hugely enjoyable (it exceeded my expectations) and that it's been well received.

The only negative I can think of is their lack of streaming, which has severely hindered the single's official chart potential. I wonder why 'Scared' wasn't included in Hot Hits UK for instance? Did it boil down to payola that they perhaps couldn't justify, or was it Spotify snubbing them for not being current? I'm not overly sure how these playlists are determined. I wish they could have at least had the chance to gain some casual listeners via Spotify. :(

Incredible achievement that they are #1 on actual sales!

SO surely that means we cna get half a naked Lee? Bottom half pls.

For them to sell new material is so surprising .

I get why they will sell out arenas .

They are the Rick Ashley of 2017

Neon Blue is very catchy but No More Tears on The Dancefloor is the song that is stuck in my head since hearing the album. That said, there is so many excellent songs on the album.

Wonderful news for the album in week 2: it is midweek Number 4 on sales of over 8,000 so far this week.

I feel so proud of them on how well the comeback has been received and more importantly i am lucky to have an excellent pop album as part of my music collection. They have delivered an album that will in no way tarnish the reputation they had in their heyday for making guilty pleasure cheesy pop music.

Now the dust has settled I'd rank the album as follows (not including the remixes):

Incredible

1. Scared Of The Dark

2. Story Of A Heart

3. Neon Blue

Amazing

4. Firefly

Great

5. I Will Love Again

6. Happy

Very good

7. Glitter & Gold

8. You Make Me Whole

9. Space Between Us

10. No More Tears On The Dancefloor

I don't often get four songs that I'd rank amazing or higher on one album, this is Delta level quality *.* That top three are an incredible holy trinity, slotting right in with their highest quality singles amongst their best ever tracks for me.

I decided that the 7th Heaven Remix of 'Story Of A Heart' is my 2nd favourite thing they've done. (Nothing will top ITWYMMF for me)

Outstanding.

Also :o 'No More Tears On The Dancefloor' should be top 4! :o

WHY all the love for No More Tears On The Dancefloor? :drama: easily the worst one there.

For me the "least exciting" track is Space Between Us (to describe any song as "worst" feels too negative for this album, like Rich I think all the tracks are at least "very good"!).

No More Tears on the Dancefloor is great! Claire's vocals are sublime & it's nice to hear the guys take the verses!

I adore Neon Blue, it's already one of my favourite tracks they've ever done. In interviews they mentioned the great feedback it received, and some of them stated it was a personal favourite, so it should safely be one of the songs they do on tour! I hope so anyway. They also mentioned they were only considering including 4 or 5 songs from the album in the set list, with the main focus being on the hits.

I must look up the 7th heaven remix of Story of a Heart, i dont mind the original song but it wasnt as good as i had hoped, neon blue is far superior for me.

Edit: Just listened to the 7th Heaven Club mix and its a better version of the song. I must start looking up more remixes of the songs from the album although i much prefer scared of the dark original to the 7th heaven mix.

I hope they do perform at least 4-5 songs on the tour as the songs are strong enough, of course people will want the hits as well but performing some new songs may help pick up album sales too.

Very solid second week performance, hopefully around 12,000 more sales

Tears on the Dancefloor is as good as any of their first 3 studio albums or better in some moments, with the new album there is no song i dislike, its more which ones i love more than the other. Scared of the dark im loving, it really keeps well in line with their old material but also manages to sound fresh. They really couldnt have come back with a better album and i hope it has longevity and we get another album from them.

I cant really see any of the singles charting as thats how it goes these days but well done to them on this comeback as im seriously enjoying it and im a bit Steps mad at the moment listening to all the old albums and not just the singles as they have some great album tracks.

The album remains number 4 in the chart update today with sales of 9,634.

How are people rating the album against all their previous albums. We could do an album rate or ranking if people were interested.

Solid third week performance from Steps, currently number 7 in the latest midweek chart information.
