His breakthrough hit 'Stitches' entered my chart at the end of 2015, but rocketed into the Top 10 in the first week of 2016, and reaching its peak of #1 in the third week. To date it remains his only #1, but actually isn't his most successful in terms of chart points. 'Treat You Better', a hit from summer 2016, peaked at #2 but experienced greater longevity. In terms of my feelings towards the two songs, I would lean towards preferring the latter! With the benefit of hindsight it probably should have reached #1... it was held off by Demi Lovato's 'Body Say', which was a bit of a "non-#1" with it only spending 8 weeks in my Top 40. 'One Dance' by Drake was inescapable in 2016, spending 15 weeks at #1 in the UK. I really liked it, but not that much! It peaked at #2, and spent 15 weeks in the Top 40. So I was actually pretty over it while it was still riding high in the UK. Its his biggest single (as lead artist) to date, but he made it to #1 in my chart as a featured artist on two Rihanna singles - 'What's My Name?' and 'Work'. Shawn & Drake are joined by fellow Canadian artist Justin Bieber in this section, with his two biggest hits. 'Sorry' became his first #1 in the very last week of 2015, and placed 8th in my EOY 2015. The success continued into 2016, with another week spent on top, and 21 weeks within the Top 40. Its achieved a total of 1173 points, which puts it just outside of the Top 20 best performing songs in the history of my chart! His collaboration with DJ Snake on 'Let Me Love You' also spent 2 weeks at #1. 'Wild' experienced a new lease of life in the summer of 2016, when Troye Sivan dropped an updated version of the track with featured vocals from Alessia Cara. It reached #1 in its solo form in 2015, and climbed all the way back up to #2 thanks to the duet. Clearly I adore both versions! It's taken from his incredible debut album 'Blue Neighbourhood', which is one of my favourite albums of the decade. Sia's only #1 in my chart is 'Titanium' with David Guetta, her very first chart entry. She's experienced a few near misses since then, with 'Elastic Heart', 'Alive' and 'Cheap Thrills' going no further than #2. 'Cheap Thrills' is her biggest hit to date as a lead artist, spending over 20 weeks in my Top 40. Little Mix achieved an amazing 4 #1s in 2016, with the emotional 'Secret Love Song' being the first in January 2016. It's a beautiful song, and many tapped into the fact that its lyrics could be interpreted as being LGBT themed. Sadly its music video didn't reflect this, despite the fact it was originally supposed to. The brilliant 'You Don't Know Love' is Olly Murs' most successful single in my chart to date and his only #1 to date - so it's rather typical that it's one of his worst peaking singles in his UK chart history! Girl power! :cheer: It became their longest running #1, with a 5 week spell at the top - although they later bettered this with 'Touch', which managed a huge 7 weeks. It probably figures that they've become my two favourite Little Mix singles to date. :wub: Both songs are taken from 'Glory Days', which reached #1 in my album chart. 'That's My Girl' is the incredibly exuberant third release from Fifth Harmony's '7/27' album, and would prove to be their last release as a 5 piece - with Camila departing at the very end of the year. The female empowerment anthem became their 2nd #1 in my chart, the first being 'Work From Home'. 'Love Me Like You Do' became Ellie Goulding's first #1 single in my chart in 2015, and 'Still Falling For You' became her second chart topper just a year later. The songs have something major in common - they're both ballad singles released off of a movie soundtrack. Both beautiful, although I actually lean towards preferring 'Still Falling For You'. :o Troye Sivan's 'Youth' didn't get off to a particularly auspicious start in my chart. It originally reached #13 in its second week, before falling to #32 in its 9th week, seemingly looking to be on its way out of the chart. It was after a couple of album listening sessions with Bal & Joseph on Skype that the fortunes of 'Youth' improved. :o I hadn't paid 'Blue Neighbourhood' much attention until then, but it really clicked with me at that point, and 'Youth' grew on me in a massive way. It subsequently flew to #1 - his second, after 2015's 'Wild'. It went on to spend an impressive 32 weeks inside my Top 40 in 2016. He'd go on to achieve a third #1, with 'Heaven'. April 17, 20178 yr Shout Out To My Ex is my 2nd favourite song of the year, so I'm glad you love it a lot too <3 That's My Girl and Hands To Myself also ended up in my top 10 so quite in sync, I'd say! Still Falling For You a fair bit higher than I'd expect and I have no idea what that other thing is.
