Whatever you think of Keegan you cant deny that the actor who plays him is playing the role very well, the bits and pieces that I've seen of Keegan almost gives me the thought of really disliking the person who is playing him and that is what the whole point of a bad guy character is. It's not surprising to see that he is going to become the main person in EastEnders now.

I completely agree Houdini. The reason so many people don't like him is because the actions his characters are doing are vile and the show could do with a villain (or anything right now).

 

Also Keegan isn't pretending that he raped Louise. He's pretending to have had sex with her with her wanting it. A very insignificant difference but still it's there.

 

Keegan is also one of the most believable characters in a show that is becoming so ludicrously unbelievable.

It is really unbelievable at the moment with Kathy voting as a ghost and alll the Max and that glasses guy stuff and Stephen turning straight and Tina turning bisexual and Jack keeping a kid that he has no right to.

Characters like Keegan make you question whether the actor is nasty in real life as well, we don't see characters with this effect on TV much these days. I think maybe Trevor is the last character on EastEnders that made me question if the actor (Alex Ferns) was a horrible person for real.

Tbh I often wonder that about Neanderthal Jack...

I'm not sure whether people don't like Keegan or just the fact that youth culture is portrayed in such a cringeworthy way at the moment. As someone who spends a lot of time around teenagers through work, the writing for almost all of them has been diabolical. Bex is probably the only well written teen.

Just watched the latest episode and yeah, it's officially my last. I give up.

 

It'll be weird because I watched it on and off throughout most of my childhood, and then again fulltime from January 2011, so to now go without watching it at all is going to be slightly bizarre at first.

 

I'll obviously start watching when we get a new producer/when things start turning around, but that's probably not going to be for a long time. I'll also keep checking out this thread because the rants about everything amuse me :lol:

I'm watching this week since it's been advertised and Queen Abi is the centre of things which is bound to give us a few moments, but I do think I'll just be dipping in and out after that.
