July 2, 20177 yr Can't see her album appearing anytime soon - her chart career has been 9, 5, 13, 48, Didn't Chart and 49. She's in horrendous territory IMO - 'Tears' and 'So Good' were hits too long ago to be able to sell the album, 'Forever Young' was a non event and she's now had a solo single miss the Top 40, a duet failing to chart and the current Olly single struggling. Not sure what else Syco can do even if they want to? I'm sure you can cut her some slack, after all, she was only #1 last weekend!
July 2, 20177 yr I'm sure you can cut her some slack, after all, she was only #1 last weekend!  That's the problem though - Syco have given her every opportunity they can so far (Duets, Charity feature, Big promo slots) - there's not much left? Sean Paul duet?
July 2, 20177 yr In all fairness, she's had a big collab with Clean Bandit and So Good was a substantial hit too. Best Behaviour and Weak are the only misfires so far (WAY too early to write off Unpredictable), and Weak was a silly move really considering it had already peaked on streams months before. Best Behaviour has actually shown itself to be a minor hit in the end, thanks to its continued placing on Hot Hits UK, so I think there's something there still.
July 2, 20177 yr Will she want to keep trying though? She might not be making much money out of this at this rate, it all adds up. Clothes, make-up, stylists and assistants, besides songwriters, studio time and all the musical costs, and I'm sure they pay to 'just happen to be' featured on the biggest Spotify playlists. July 2, 20177 yr IMO the only real underperformance is Best Behaviour. Weak and Unpredictable are more difficult, weak didn't really have any airplay and as others have mentioned it had already peaked on streaming, unpredictable while too early to write it off its just a rehash from Olly's Album. The real test will be in the next single, if that totally bombs she will be in real trouble.

The issue is an act like Louisa needs a decent selling album to make a return for her label - yes she's had 2 hits but both are too old to sell an album now, she's firmly in Dua Lipa territory and now needs 2-3 hit singles to launch the album.

That's my feeling too. They've already invested a lot in her being a moderate to large success, but diminishing returns and a lack of rock solid fanbase will be suggesting to the label that they might be better to either shelve her for now or cut and run with less losses than an unsuccessful album release from her will net them. Realistically although 'Tears' was a solid success, Louisa and her label won't have made much bank from it. Featured singles are often more a promotional tool for the singer than a solid source of income, especially the case on a feature alongside a band, where the revenue will already be being split between members. July 3, 20177 yr In all fairness, she's had a big collab with Clean Bandit and So Good was a substantial hit too. Best Behaviour and Weak are the only misfires so far (WAY too early to write off Unpredictable), and Weak was a silly move really considering it had already peaked on streams months before. Is it though? It's currently #5 on the rolling airplay chart; plus it's had numerous performances, a discount, and the video has already been released. I'm not sure what else is left to propel it up the charts. It looks set to enter this week, but only because of the new streaming rules. I'd definitely class it as an underperformance, unfortunately. I'm still salty at 'Best Behaviour' flopping. What a bop.
August 25, 20177 yr Author Great!! Does anyone know how close is Forever Young til Silver? Id't be amazing if it could reach it + Unpredictable reaching Silver also. Edited August 25, 20177 yr by BigMixer
