Posted February 7, 20178 yr http://s03.artist.images.jango.com/294/294486dd4997d3717126676f873c5a25.jpg I've been meaning to do a thread like this for ages as I'm a proper stan for these two! Ray Slijngaard and Anita Doth, better known as 2 Unlimited, were/are the Dutch Eurodance duo that set the charts alive in the early 90s with their quirky and energetic take on dance music. PWL signed them to be released in the UK but it was thought Ray's raps would be unpopular with our ears so edited him out on the majority of their singles (although they did have a change of heart a couple of years down the line). Between 1991 and 1995, they achieved a string of hits, including 12 Top 20 singles (we'll brush over 1998's new line-up flop though because that was awful). They did disband in 1996 (a new line-up took over between 1998-1999) but came back together in 2012 to release a greatest hits album and tour. In early 2016, Anita announced her departure again and she has since been replaced by Kim Vergouwen. Take a listen below and relive some great tracks and memories and leave a comment if you will. February 8, 20178 yr awe lewis, they were my fave band when I was growing up  We need to a rate :D 09-Get Ready For This 10-Twilight Zone 08-Workaholic 08-The Magic Friend 10-No Limit 11-Tribal Dance 10-Faces 07-Maximum Overdrive 09-Let The Beat Control Your Body 10-The Real Thing 10-No One 08-Here I Go 07-Nothing Like The Rain 09-Do What's Good For Me 08-Jump For Joy 06-Spread Your Love
February 8, 20178 yr Really like this sort of uplifting dance music. I actually prefer their stuff to a lot of other early 90s dance music tbh....so energetic. Their style of dance definitely inspired many later dance songs even as late as early 2006 when there was a sort of mini revival of this style of dance.
February 8, 20178 yr A lot of jams in their singles discography! Indeed, I thought 'No Limit' was a one hit wonder until recently, the rest of their discography is great too!
February 9, 20178 yr Loved 2 Unlimited! Kind of incredible how successful they were for a dance act - All 14 singles made the Top 40 including 8 Top 10's plus 2 #1 albums!
May 3, 20205 yr Author Reviving this because I’ve got my Hits Unlimited CD on at the moment and I’ve fallen in love all over again. They were so good
May 3, 20205 yr Easy to forget how huge these were - 12 Top 20 hits and 2 #1 albums. Not listened to them for years but streaming the bops now.
May 4, 20205 yr crazy how popular they were, nowadays most dance acts have 1 hit or 2 but having like 15 hits in a trot is not that easy and with no features, no samples, no covers, no bullshit ;)
May 4, 20205 yr I was a huge fan back on the day and bought all their albums and singles.Real thing is my fave nowadays, they were hugely successful back in the day. I'm surprised some of the newer dance acts havnt used a sample of one of their songs.
May 4, 20205 yr 09-Get Ready For This 08-Twilight Zone 07-Workaholic 09-The Magic Friend 10-No Limit 07-Tribal Dance 08-Faces 06-Maximum Overdrive 10-Let The Beat Control Your Body 11-The Real Thing 06-No One 08-Here I Go 09-Nothing Like The Rain 07-Do What's Good For Me 08-Jump For Joy 05-Spread Your Love
May 4, 20205 yr I was the target age group for them back in 1991 so I have fond memories of them even if I'd not really choose to listen to them these days. My favourites used to be Twilight Zone, Tribal Dance and the single version of Let The Beat Control Your Body.
May 4, 20205 yr I wasnt the target age group for them but I loved the early stuff and they were both stunning looking, dressed so fine.... :D
May 5, 20205 yr I hated after all ray and Anita's work it turned into a complete brand, which took away from all their success. Anita was diagnosed with breast cancer but thankfully overcame and beat it and she and ray were back together but split again.
May 12, 20205 yr My favourite of their singles is 'Faces'. The production and synths are a bit different to their other tracks making it really stand out in their discography and the lyrics have more meaning than some of their other songs.
May 12, 20205 yr No Limit  Get Ready For This  Twilight Zone  Faces  Let The Beat Control Your Body  Maximum Overdrive  All total bangers!
May 12, 20205 yr I was a huge fan back on the day and bought all their albums and singles.Real thing is my fave nowadays, they were hugely successful back in the day. I'm surprised some of the newer dance acts havnt used a sample of one of their songs. I was just thinking the same...No Limit screams for someone to sample and potentially become a hit again!!!
May 12, 20205 yr I saw 2 Unlimited live last year as part of a We Love The 90s concert and they were superb!
