I've been meaning to do a thread like this for ages as I'm a proper stan for these two!

Ray Slijngaard and Anita Doth, better known as 2 Unlimited, were/are the Dutch Eurodance duo that set the charts alive in the early 90s with their quirky and energetic take on dance music.

PWL signed them to be released in the UK but it was thought Ray's raps would be unpopular with our ears so edited him out on the majority of their singles (although they did have a change of heart a couple of years down the line).

Between 1991 and 1995, they achieved a string of hits, including 12 Top 20 singles (we'll brush over 1998's new line-up flop though because that was awful).

They did disband in 1996 (a new line-up took over between 1998-1999) but came back together in 2012 to release a greatest hits album and tour. In early 2016, Anita announced her departure again and she has since been replaced by Kim Vergouwen.

Take a listen below and relive some great tracks and memories and leave a comment if you will.

Really like this sort of uplifting dance music. I actually prefer their stuff to a lot of other early 90s dance music tbh....so energetic.

Their style of dance definitely inspired many later dance songs even as late as early 2006 when there was a sort of mini revival of this style of dance.

A lot of jams in their singles discography!

Indeed, I thought 'No Limit' was a one hit wonder until recently, the rest of their discography is great too!

Loved 2 Unlimited! Kind of incredible how successful they were for a dance act - All 14 singles made the Top 40 including 8 Top 10's plus 2 #1 albums!

Reviving this because I’ve got my Hits Unlimited CD on at the moment and I’ve fallen in love all over again. They were so good

Easy to forget how huge these were - 12 Top 20 hits and 2 #1 albums.

Not listened to them for years but streaming the bops now.

crazy how popular they were, nowadays most dance acts have 1 hit or 2 but having like 15 hits in a trot is not that easy

and with no features, no samples, no covers, no bullshit ;)

I was a huge fan back on the day and bought all their albums and singles.Real thing is my fave nowadays, they were hugely successful back in the day. I'm surprised some of the newer dance acts havnt used a sample of one of their songs.

I was the target age group for them back in 1991 so I have fond memories of them even if I'd not really choose to listen to them these days. My favourites used to be Twilight Zone, Tribal Dance and the single version of Let The Beat Control Your Body.
I wasnt the target age group for them but I loved the early stuff and they were both stunning looking, dressed so fine.... :D
I hated after all ray and Anita's work it turned into a complete brand, which took away from all their success. Anita was diagnosed with breast cancer but thankfully overcame and beat it and she and ray were back together but split again.
My favourite of their singles is 'Faces'. The production and synths are a bit different to their other tracks making it really stand out in their discography and the lyrics have more meaning than some of their other songs.

I was just thinking the same...No Limit screams for someone to sample and potentially become a hit again!!!
