As said above keep politics separate from the chart forum. What part of that post did you not understand.

How about a please or thank you, manners cost nothing.

Too many full of themselves mods on here, it's not a real job you know.

It's not combined the original is a separate version, I would have thought.

OK, it's only 4% so it's not a huge deal anyway.

Despacito's versions are combined because ultimately it's the same song, these Captain Ska things aren't at all apparently?

Can we keep the politics in The Lounge or News & Politics please?

Check the quote above in case you missed it...

The original one is about David Cameron and was released in 2010. The new one is essentially the same song but with different lyrics about Theresa May.

If the troll read the original post, I wouldn't have had to respond.

Anyhow back on topic please, thanks.

Oo really happy to see that Ariana's still top 3 on iTunes! Hopefully it can manage top 10 come Friday.

Think Liar Liar could easily be in contention of top 20 right now - fantastic news.

Anywhere in the official top 40 is a win, cos then the BBC have to acknowledge that people have been buying the song even if they refuse to play it (they will).

I guess the current chart show format will be beneficial unless it goes top ten. They can just skip over if it's at #32 or whatever. Not like that Wizard Of Oz situation.

I think its going to be in the 'play' zone for sure - its selling more than 3 times the song at 10 and its only going to gather speed the closer you get to the election. Also the election is on Thursdays... so beneficial for the chart the next day :D

Liar liar 83%. Every 2 hours it's gaining 10%+ since the morning.
I am here for this Captain Ska slayage *.* To #1 xx

Likewise. It's a proper tune as well.

I've been seeing posts on Reddit all day about it not getting played on the mainstream radio, that might actually be contributing to more people going out of their way to hear this 'banned song'. Haven't had anything like this in quite a while.

It's a shame nobody ever streams these protest/campaign songs. Because they dominate iTunes, get blanket media coverage all week, bring mass attention back to the charts momentarily and then people tune in to hear it crash in at #19 or whatever officially and the bubble immediately bursts because no media outlet is going to care afterwards if it doesn't go top five.
I imagine a lot of people just buy these protest songs never with any intention of actually listening to them. A quick iTunes buy and it's like "yep. job done" but to actually sit through a song they otherwise wouldn't bat an eyelid over if it weren't for the context isn't realistic.
So a song in tribute to Jo Cox doesn't go Top 100 but a song slamming Theresa May looks like its going Top 20? Whilst I'm glad Liar Liar is doing well, that does upset me a little.
