Yeah I remember Band Aid 30's sales being astronomic at the start.

The only thing I can think of is that they've ignored the sales of Band Aid that were from pre-orders. I disagree with doing that but I suppose they just want this charity single to get as much promo as possible and "fastest selling single of the decade" sounds better than "second fastest".

They probably just forgot about Band Aid 30. It's not like previous OCC news articles have the best track record of being accurate.

That's true, but I find it hard to believe even the OCC, for all their notorious nature for being inaccurate, failed to look at a list of #1 singles with sales by the side and pick out all the songs with big first week sales and find out their first day sales (which is precisely what I did for all of 10 minutes).

 

I mean, you're probably right, but there's just no excuse on their behalf.

Am I surprised at just how well this is selling, hopefully we can arrest that "below same week 2016 sales of xxx and below same-week, previous-year sales for the xxxth week in a row" sentence in the Sales thread this week or next!

I just heard this for the first time and it sounded good, definitely one of the better charity songs of recent times and it's for a very good cause which is the most important thing.
