79. Aeroche - Heaven - Shaun Frank and Kshmr featuring Delaney Jane

A sixth win for Aeroche as Shaun Frank and Kshmr finished 17 points ahead of Circles by Truls (Kluminican Republic). Waves by Dance With The Dead was 3rd for Persephonia.

Heaven has some good moments but it sounds like a lot of other songs from the last few years. Shaun Frank and Kshmr have both co-written no.1 singles (Closer and Tsunami).

7.8 out of 10.

Ah we are at last into the era since Dobago joined :D

(I have been following this thread btw Rollo & have made some great discoveries along the way, great work with this!)

I remember that 78 contest (my first one) very well indeed & was thinking at the time "is there always this much drama?" Personally I MUCH preferred Important as a winner but shame that wasn't to be...

Heaven is pretty good too, don't revisit it all that often but good to hear on a shuffle.

'Fuel To The Fire' defying all the haters to win *.* a majestic tune + i can't get enough of his voice

Important was of course shite, that being thrown off the scoreboard entirely is probably the funniest moment in BJSC history!

oh yeah and that allowed this song to squeeze into the Top 5 which was pretty awesome too-

I actually really like Heaven- anyway after a long break (extended by the shenanigans mentioned on the previous page) Aeroche hosting BJSC80 inspired me to return with a BANGAH.

KSHMR also represented Danaelanda a few contests prior with the brilliant "Jammu", which gave us a surprise top 10 hit. It is also worth noting that he was formerly of the duo The Cataracs who produced US #1 and UK top 5 hit "Like A G6" for Far East Movement.

"Heaven" is brilliant and deservedly got my top marks that contest.

Fuel To The Fire  it's INCREDIBLE live

Oh yeah, I can second that. Rationale, the lead singer has some fantastic vocals on him.

Heaven I remember because it was one of the contests where I called the winner against the consensus. And it and Circles were reasonably even, I think I do slightly prefer Circles these days but it's still a very good winner.

i know a lot of people wouldn't agree but 'heaven' is one of my personal finest bjsc moments  was THRILLED when that won unprecedentedly and is definitely in my top 10 of my bjsc entries to date

80. #00274E - Ghost - Delta Heavy

A comfortable win for Delta Heavy who finished 65 points ahead of Lone Digger by Caravan Palace (Kluminican Republic). The splendidly named Owsey,Jernalism and Resotone were third for Terra Avium with 'I've Been Secretly Falling Apart'.

I'm a big fan of the Nero album 'Welcome Reality' and Ghost has a similar sound to it but it doesn't quite have the huge wall of sound that Nero put on their songs. Still,I like this enough to give it a score higher than 9. Delta Heavy are a British duo,Ben Hall and Simon James, and Ghost features vocals from Tanika.

9.1 out of 10.

Another one where Klum Rep should've won i reckon!

'Ghost' does sound a bit better than i remember tbf, maybe helps that the video is really really good (clippy <3)

Loved Ghost at the time, proper good Dnb track but nowadays I'd say I'd much sooner listen to Lone Digger actually. Fab top 2 for the final contest of 2015.
Ooh yay my first ever medal *.* I'd certainly recommend Owsey et al. to you, Rollo, assuming you enjoy this type of chilled, ambient sound. I still can't get over how surprising it was, I was expecting no more than a top 20 at most so the results were surreal! Was fantastic if nerve racking to experience though. I can't complain at the top 2 that beat me though, Lone Digger is a wonderful bit of electro-swing and Ghost was definitely an example of the video selling it to me - it's a good drum'n'bass track otherwise but the video with all those wonderful 90s references was a winner. It did seem to be a big talking point so I wonder if it would've done as well without it (not that I'm devaluing it, it sounded like a big hit anyway and it did get my 18 iirc).

Habib Galbi is FAB, definitely the best Persephonia entry and makes up for me hating their other winner :kink: It's such a bop, perfectly melds the Arabic sounds with a more Western trappy sound. Such a good winner, FARC was my 18 that month (TUNE) but I did point A-WA highly.

Sorry was another fab winner, and more special given Kylienips had to wait so long for a win! It didn't feel like a winner at all then picked up so much hype in the final week! I gave it 15, it was just pipped to the post by 1234 by Samantha Urbani for Aeroche, such perfect pop <3 Sorry is such a tune though, a powerful rocky song that has such an impossibly huge chorus.

Easy Love... well that's a dip in quality  One of the worst winners of BJSC ever, certainly the worst up to this point in the retrospective. It summed up everything wrong with dance music at the time. Hideous "song", it's just a pitched looped sample and goes right through me. It's a shame my 18 (Play Mu Drum) came so close position wise but points wise Sigala trounced her :/ HOW.

Safe With You is decent, I liked it when there fuss around it a bit before it being entered, but I didn't point it. It was a good enough winner I guess but I've given it to Aeroche or Altyr outof that A battle top 3. My 18 was Unbroken by Bonnie Anderson, such a pop tune *.*

Fuel To The Fire is utter shite, i cannot abide his voice, he sounds like Cher having a stroke and the song is dull anyway. Honestly have no idea how in the f*** it won (well it technically didn't, only because of Mz 007 gate, but you know what I mean). My 18 that month was N DNTN - Every Night by Hannah Diamod  I think that and Joedonia's runner-up were the only ones I voted for of that top 10, well what became the top 10 as I voted for Important too.

Heaven is a bit generic for me, not an Aeroche fave but not a terrible winner. My 18 that month came second from last (Lisa Ajax) but it rightfully should have the absolute BANGER 5 Fine Frokner by Gabrielle (that coming bloody THIRTY SECOND is honestly one of the baffling in BJSC history).

Ghost is good enough, but I didn't vote for it - I definitely agree with Nero as a comparison. My 18 did awfully again, Awoo by Lim Kim for Adonia came 35th but it did ave a deduction. Lone Digger shoudl've won that won easily, I didn't point it but it was such a huge grower post contest.

Lone Digger was and still is by far the superior track, I really think that's where BJSC got it wrong, I never found Ghost to be anything more than a 6/10 (I see the Nero comparison now but it's nowhere near as good), I was disappointed the video seemed to be winning over people as well as it made me unable to shake the feeling that an inferior song was winning because of the video (as an aside: Lone Digger's video is similarly excellent and one that I should have remembered for that animated videos topic).

I do remember this contest well because I was simply stanning Lone Digger so damn hard as that first paragraph might clue you into. Terra's track was lovely also.

I hate it when people vote because of a video when it is a SONG competition.

Lone Digger is thr superio song and should have won

Obviously the video was excellent but I loved the song too so it was great to see it win.

Cannot stand electro-swing at all, so I was very pleased that Caravan Palace did not win - that would have been a massively underwhelming winner (not that most BJSC winners aren't of course!)

81. Deandria - Sanctuary - Allie X

A first and only win for Deandria,Allie X finished with exactly 400 points,74 ahead of Crazy For You by Zonderling (Aeroche). TheFatRat's Monody was 3rd for Danaelanda.

Sanctuary is a good solid pop song,I like her vocals and the big drum sound. It sounds a bit like Chvrches. Allie X's real name is Alexandra Hughes, she comes from Canada.

8.7 out of 10.
