My first thought was "oh God" but then I remembered they hired Lee Ryan who turned out to be pretty good!

It's strange that Melanie Owen is coming back to EastEnders, apart from Ian & Phil there aren't really any connections to that character and it seems like there is no one else who was around between 1998-2002 that is still there other than Dot, Billy Mitchell in addition to Ian & Phil. She did really make a big impact then but I think it was the storylines that she was involved with rather than the character itself that made her have a big impact. Those were easily the best times of EastEnders and the programme hasn't even come close to being as good as it was back then.

Whilst I was watching some of her old scenes I stumbled across this unrelated scene involving Sonia. Her falling over is so hilarious

Hannah was pretty good in Primeval I thought and she was always my favourite in the S Club TV shows too  I think she'll be just fine, particularly as she has plenty of acting experience!
Acting wise, Hannah is a better signing than Rachel Stevens would have been.

I loved the little "whoa!" from someone after Linda chucked the drink over Fi!

I'm surprised people aren't enjoying EE at the moment. The Weyland storyline is a bit far-fetched but there's at least signs of progression and it's well acted by most.

It's certainly at a better point than it was a few months back but I think there's still a lot that can be improved, hopefully change will be more noticeable when SOC's stuff is mostly out of the way.

Yeah I think it's just the arse end of SOC's mess, it's getting better anyway and that's only going to increase once his stuff is over with on screen! For me the main problem is the Weyland mess which I am beyond bored of, some of the other stuff is a bit boring or pointless but I'm sure that Yorke has plans to fill that void.

It reminds me a bit of Gavin in how overhyped it has been  Like cool, James has money, you can't just buy the entirety of Albert Square and force everyone out of their homes, it's so ridculous. They're trying to make the plan far more menacing than it is, it doesn't feel like Walford is being threatened and other than Luke shagging Ben it's not like the whole Square is involved in this big community storyline, it just feels like another vehicle to give the Carters yet more airtime with yet more money issues.

Is it wrong that I would actually love to see the Carters evicted from the Vic?

Still can’t believe Abi is going, just feel like she’s got much more to give.

I think the Carters are long past being the "it" family on the square and as such, I'd welcome a swift departure from The Vic. It might help them become a little more interesting. Give The Vic to the Fox-Hubbards *.*

I think Danny Dyer has said that he’ll leave the show if he’s removed the Vic?

Although he also said he didn’t want any affair/cheating storylines

Get rid of him then! It's been a long time since his character was especially interesting and do Eastenders really think that people tune in especially for him?

Can't BELIEVE there are people here saying KAT f***IN SLATER who was last on a couple years back and last on tv um THIS YEAR is a bigger deal than MEL??

She was one of the BIGGEST characters around the millenium and it is a HUGE DEAL for her to be comin back!! She had the MOST IKONEK moment of Millenial Eastenders

It's so stupid! With lines, by a BIG BUSINESSMAN, of, 'No, I want Jane to leave but I want Ian to stay EXACTLY where he is. Kathy, too, in the caff.'

Jesus Christ - they are businessmen, not Eastenders fans. They're not gonna know the ins and outs of everyone on the square. They're just gonna to buy it up once its micro-economy collapses OR more realistically they GRADUALLY gentrify it, forcing prices up. They aren't goin to care about the ins and outs of a fart, or make some old man get in a relationship with Ben Mitchell.

No i really want that too! I think if they just normally ran the Vic I'd be fine with them still having it, but it's really getting boring that every time they are on screen it's the same old tired shite about their money worries. Idk who I'd have to take it over, at this point anyone tbh :drama:
