'Long Hot Summer' is one of their very best for me. Never had a problem with it being the lead to the Chemistry era, even if I can appreciate the argument that 'Biology' would have been a 'stronger' choice. I agree that it's quintessential Girls Aloud - a deliciously fun pop record with the right touch of sass thrown in. Always play it when the sun comes out each summer.
No major upset for me so far, ballads and cover versions weren't really their thing, some of them served a purpose at the time, but they're not as memorable as (most of) those still to come.
How on EARTH is Life Got Cold higher than WLH?!

Because it's a better song... :D

How the hell is 'I Think We're Alone Now' above 'Long Hot Summer'???

You guys, really

It isn't, ITWAN is #21.

Long Hot Summer  Forever underrated. Not a great lead single for sure, but it's a fun bop.

16. Life Got Cold // 6.85

The melancholic ballad Life Got Cold was chosen as the third single to be released from the girls' debut album Sound of the Underground, following a highly positive response towards the song from their fan base. It entered and peaked at #3 in the UK charts in August 2003, which made Girls Aloud the first act to chart at #1, #2 and #3 with their first three singles respectively! Its first week sales of just under 32,000 copies was just 1,000 copies adrift of the #2 position - a new entry from Lemar - Dance (With U). #1 that week was Blu Cantrell - Breathe (feat. Sean Paul, Sean Paul & Sean Paul). :heehee: Despite being a fan favourite back then, with the passing of time Life Got Cold seems to have become quite forgotten (it's one of their lowest streamed singles on Spotify) and otherwise it's often dismissed as sounding too similar to Oasis' Wonderwall!

Never liked 'Life Got Cold'. Always thought it was bland and it's really not aged well!

Yeah, always been my least favourite "original" of theirs. Until BCYLM came along anyway. The rest of the songs remaining are great, I'd say.

I like to see Jump go next so that we're left with all their original bangers.

'Life Got Cold' is still wonderful btw.

I hate the fact it is so forgotten, it has such good memories for me

'Life Got Cold' is such an underrated gem!

Joe and Jonjo are going on my ignore list... :P

No Good Advice to smash :cheer:

I can't argue with the results so far other than Life Got Cold being far too low. There's something about it that never gets old for me.

15. Jump // 7.05

The last cover standing just manages to make the top 15, but unfortunately, Jump cannot make it any higher. It was released as a single for Love Actually, replacing the planned release of Some Kind of Miracle from the Sound of the Underground album. Jump ended up being included on the re-issue of said album, and on What Will the Neighbours Say? the following year. It charted at #2, blocked from #1 by Westlife with Mandy (:drama:), and has been certified silver, despite receiving mixed reviews from critics. The music video sees the girls break into 10 Downing Street, intercut with scenes from the film. It's one of their most fun music videos to me and definitely one of their most remembered too!

'Jump' and its accompanying video are both a total riot! The Nadine parts of the song in particular are my ultimate highlight. Probably my favourite of their covers, with 'See The Day' running it close.

I wish Vevo could update the default picture for the Jump video :')

Jump is my favourite GA cover! The production seemed very fresh in 2003, it's still enjoyable now and it was always fun on tour! (A pity one of the tour DVDs has Pointer Sisters vocals dubbed onto it  )

I still enjoy 'Jump' but I never really go back to it, I was obsessed back in 2003 though  Even when I preferred Clea to them

Edited by Andrew.

This is going very well! All the duds out. Love Machine is my least favourite of what remains but I can see that lasting for a bit longer.
