There are still places to discuss Elvis in the retro forum. Any new U2 music can be discussed in the indie forum. They just weren't getting any posts. U2 got nothing in their forum for their latest album and Elvis getting his #1 album generated nada, which is an indictment if anything. In fact, I recommended that the U2 forum be canned as far back as 2013. It's taken me until now to actually implement it.

It's not ageist, it's a question of post numbers and activity.

All feels a bit ageist to me. -_-

I'm 55 - I don't think there's anything celebratory about getting rid of an Elvis forum - one of the most globally iconic performers of the last sixty years who continues to have number one albums. How much more relevant can you be? And U2? One of the most successful bands of all time?

It's still interesting to read the forums even if not posting.

I'm in the Robbie forum. We chat every single day. There aren't many of us but the forum is active, up to date and vibrant and yet we're going to be "merged"? .

There is still a place for older artists and their forums. Pop music is for everyone.

It's not ageism! Of course, Elvis and U2 are hugely relevant in society and always will be, but that alone doesn't warrant a forum - hence the Adele forum being closed down a while back even though she's *the* biggest artist in the world right now. If the posts aren't there, why do they deserve a forum? That's all it is!

It is sad, and of course U2 and Elvis are both iconic and sell a lot of albums still but the fact is sadly the U2 and Elvis forums were pretty much lifeless with very little posting happening in them.

I really fear for its future now because of the artist forum changes but I really think the Darius forum should stay. I think it brings something unique to Buzzjack, having a Darius forum is an eccentricity which makes Buzzjack all the more loveable!

A Holly Valance forum would be eccentric too but nobody's here to post about her and she won't attract new members either, much like Darius :P

I'll have to look a bit wider around Buzzjack because I must admit I do only look on the artists forums.

I don't really delve into any of the other threads. I'll have to look in the retro forums a bit more.

Have you ever even posted in the Darius forum? And would you go in and make threads if the topic of it going wasn't being had?

I think Darius is unique though as a stage actor though. The Darius forum livened up recently anyway as the coming 15th anniversary of Colourblind was discussed, soon the 15th anniversary of 'Rushes' will come leading to more activity there!

Laundry needs to come back to the normal Lounge too I think! Some duo dynamics and off topic waffle from Laundry would be refreshing there! :D

I did post things there before the current topic of it possibly going (which I really hope it doesn't), see the 'My Opinion Of Darius' thread there I made from a few months back!

Unique or eccentric or not, it costs money to run the site and if it's not bringing those posts it's not worth having.

To honest I think the existence (and excuse to keep it for so long) will be remembered for years to come :kink:

The fans that do post there are massive fans of his though, Polly for example said she was upset at the prospect of it possibly going.

I am posting more in it, Mack posts there a lot too, and I have seen posts from a few other Buzzjackers too. It should be the top week on the Darius forum this week in a while in terms of posts.

Well then I could say a similar thing for an Owl City forum :kink: about 5 members would post in there and still our small group would probably keep it regularly active. BUT as others have said we also want these forums to bring new people to the site, which an OC or Darius forum unlikely will do.
If anything with the new forums going up, I just feel a sense of dismay at the fact that the music taste of the yoof is so awful. Much more inspiring artists were getting forums back in 2006 and 2007. But this is just me being an old grouch tbf. Dua, Ariana and Justin will bring in more posters than Dido, Anastacia or Stereophonics these days.

I feel we are jumping the bandwagon with replacing the Justin Timberlake artist forum with Dua Lipa who has only had 2 UK Top10 hits.

And 2 further top 20s that went gold plus a silver top 40 hit, and most importantly momentum building which was a key factor to the Sats forum taking off when it seemed like a silly idea. It was a different angle to take to giving all the big pop stars one, because of the Sats mostly and to an extent Little Mix although ofc they were bigger than Dua when they got a forum. If it doesn't work, it doesn't work, but it's something to try. Also, her not being an obvious choice who has loads of forums across the internet already might entice stans to sign up more. Either way whether we gave it to Dua, Zara, Fifth Harmony, whoever, they'd get more than the wasteland of a JT forum so we can only try and worst case scenario it doesn't work and someone else gets a try. I wasn't sure and still am not sure myself but the whole point of these is try out things with the AF slots we still have and try and modernise the site a bit, bring new people in and use the AFs properly instead of leaving them to rot.

Pretty sure Dua's forum had more posts in one day than Justin Timberlake's forum has had all year! I can't really see an argument against that.

What are the stats for the Top 10 Artist forums over the past year .
We have the total post counts from 2016 for each Artist Forum, if that helps?
