Having a Darius fourm puts more people off joining than it does with the one person somewhere somehow that may be tempted to sign up because of it.

The amount of discussion it generates can easily be contained in a thread within the Pop forum. Threads like Steps is often bumped with all the latest news and so a Darius thread can easily be done like that. There's literally not enough discussion to be had about a random artist like Darius who is hardly in the public eye in 2017 to sustain a full forum.

It no longer is despite attempts to keep it.
It is busy though at the minute so it definitely should be kept. Baytree, a major driver of conversation there has only been able to log in again recently so its not just because of the threat of it going that it is busy again! If it becomes as quiet as it was last year again, fair enough it can go but that isn't going to happen.

No one browses Buzzjack and thinks 'oh a Darius forum, how quirky, I'm going to register...

It adds something different to Buzzjack though, the Buzzjack artist forum section would be boring if it was exclusively taken up with just the usual artists discussed on other pop forums. It also has a great history, from back in the CoolClarity days as you said and is a real link with our past as a site.

A Francesca Michielin forum would add something different to Buzzjack, doesn't mean I'm campaigning for one lmao

He is in the public eye though, maybe not in the charts but in a different way, as part of a very popular musical.

Well we have all our new shiny artist forums with chart artists, I don't see how the inclusion of one artist who is different to the rest in what he does now, Darius would put off people from joining Buzzjack. Getting rid of a forum which has quite a few users who mostly only use it is destructive and sad I think, especially as the Darius forum is beginning a renaissance in terms of posts, not only because of the threats of it going, but also because Baytree, who drives conversation there is back.

So are Steps, moreso than Darius but there just isn't enough discussion for a Steps forum so there's even less for a Darius one.

I only see about 2 or 3 people even posting in the Darius forum anyway, and pretty much all the talk can be contained to one thread, there's no variety in it.

When was the last time Darius even released material? At least every other AF have released music in the last 4-5 years so I do not get the "unique" excuse because I don't think you can call him relevant to the music industry at all.

He most certainly is in the public eye though.

Concerning the discussion, you would be surprised. The vast majority of the posts this week on the forum were about Darius himself (his appearance in Funny Girl at the minute generates a lot of discussion right now) and not the stuff about the possible closure of the Darius forum.

We also care about how we do in the artist forum too now and a thread in the pop forum wouldn't count towards it! Plus the layout of the forum into different categories means it is much easier to find things in and to talk about different topics. There is too much in the Darius forum to be transferred into a thread too. In general our posters on the Darius forum much prefer the forum to a Darius pop forum thread as they have already said on here.

Its an entertainment forum, not just music! Darius just uses his musical abilities in a different, albeit still relevant way. Plus there is the possibility of a new Darius album in the future, Darius has talked about it!

Snake, just give this up. Prior to the posibiity of the end of the forum you couldn't give a flying f***. Just give it up already

All there is to talk about is whatever show he's doing and the possibility of music. That can easily go into one thread.

Steps talk about their album, singles, tours and promo in one thread and it's easy to navigate that thread to find the thing you want to talk about.

Almost all of the posters who talked about Darius are gone now and you Snake only decided to post because it's "quirky" and spam there in some attempt to prove it's worth staying.

Even 2 of their mods haven't been online since 2016 and 2014

Its up to moderators to decide the future of the Darius forum, but I am just saying the Darius forum is starting a renaissance in terms of posts and it would be sad to see it go now it is generating more activity, not just because of the possibility of it going looming but because as I said, Baytree who drives discussion there could only log in again recently. Fair enough if posts go back to very few like they were last year then I wouldn't oppose closing the Darius forum, but just not at the minute while it is such an active forum, its not the right time I think while it is having such a glorious revival.

I just think it would be sad if the Darius forum went. It has a long history on Buzzjack and on CoolClarity before it.

There was more discussion on the Darius forum than the Miley one last year. It wasn't that far behind MKS/Sugababes either, and of course the Darius Forum already well exceeded 230 posts this year. :D

We have the total post counts from 2016 for each Artist Forum, if that helps?

1. Little Mix - 7747 posts

2. Britney Spears - 6792 posts

3. The Saturdays - 3961 posts

4. Lady Gaga - 3652 posts

5. Madonna - 3402 posts

6. Robbie Williams - 2249 posts

7. Rihanna - 2227 posts

8. Take That - 1516 posts

9. Kylie and Dannii Minogue - 1261 posts

10. Beyoncè - 1220 posts

11. One Direction - 1034 posts

12. Leona Lewis - 1032 posts

13. Girls Aloud - 745 posts

14. Katy Perry - 620 posts

15. Pink - 579 posts

16. Will Young - 497 posts

17. Mutya Keisha Siobhan and Sugababes - 263 posts

18. Darius - 230 posts

19. Elvis Presley - 96 posts

20. Justin Timberlake - 93 posts

21. Miley Cyrus - 48 posts

22. Glee - 26 posts

23. U2 - 2 posts

Miley does have a new album coming out as has been said, but that can be discussed on the pop forum which will be a big boost to the Pop Forum. The difference between Miley and Darius is that it seems that nearly all Miley Forum users are integrated with the rest of Buzzjack and the pop forum particularly so a change from the Miley Forum to a Miley thread in the pop forum would be quite seamless whereas a lot of Darius Forum users just the Darius Forum in Buzzjack so a change to a pop/retro forum thread would be less seamless and likely to result in some of the users leaving Buzzjack completely.

Change the sodding record

Ok my points have been made! I just continue the argument too long sometimes, a personal flaw (I should have learnt from the Arcadian brothel debate in teams).

I didn't know the U2 forum only got 2 posts last year! Is that a record for the lowest number of posts per year in an artist forum? I would like to see those two posts, to judge if is a case of quality over quantity.

Miley would be more likely to bring in users than Darius. Activity has only increased of late because you're forcing it. It is hardly integral to Buzzjack's identity no matter how you spin it.

Its because Baytree can log in again too though. She has driven discussion there this past week as much as I have done, if not more, meaning other users post there too. :D

Its not just about bringing in users though. Its about each artist forum being a vibrant small community, which, now its more active, the Darius forum is now

Moving away from the subject of the Darius forum (these arguments about it on this thread have gone on too long ), I think the range of Buzzjack artist forums in general are fine as they are. Its unfortunate we don't have a dance or alternative/indie/rock act represented there but pop stars do generally drive most discussion and do have more hardcore fans.
