  • Updated sales here: Too Lost In You over half a mil to become their third biggest seller. Round Round just under the half mil at 499k

  • Stronger, Shape, In The Middle, Caught in a Moment and Red Dress should all be above Get Sexy! That whole Sweet 7 era needs erasing tbh. 🧙‍♀️

  • Some estimates for future certifications! Too Lost in You - Platinum - 600,000 - March 2026 Push the Button - 2xPlatinum - 1,200,000 - July 2026 Round Round - Platinum - 600,000 - September 2027 Abou

We’re the sales between Real Girl and Umbrella close?

It wasn't - Real Girl actually debuted at #11, then climbing to #9 and finally to #2 in its third week. But it wasn't even close to Umbrella then, which had 60k sales vs Real Girl's 17k at #2.

Ah thanks, I always thought Real Girl debuted at #2. That’s quite the gap though.

The Lost Tapes - Download Chart:

2-8-26

I'm guessing it'll fall out next week since it's fallen out of the album chart on iTunes atm, unless Radio 2 boosts it.

It manages to snag another week in the download chart, presumably because of the R2 exposure helping it out:

Missed that The Lost Tapes re-entered the download chart last week:

So:

2-8-26-67-x

From MTV, sales correct to February 2023:

1 About You Now 1.18m

2 Push the Button 878k

3 Too Lost in You 467k

4 Freak Like Me 418k

5 Round Round 417k

6 Hole in the Head 304k

7 Ugly 300k

8 Overload 258k

9 Get Sexy 230k

10 Girls 226k

Some average weekly chart sales based on the last known updates:

2,222 About You Now (1.02m in October 2021)

1,400 Push the Button (850k in October 2022)

833 Too Lose In You (407k in October 2021)

653 Round Round (400k in August 2022)

462 Freak Like Me (400k in May 2022)

369 Overload (231k in September 2021)

328 Ugly (200k in April 2017)

254 Hole in the Head (200k in April 2015)

100 Get Sexy (200k in May 2017)

<52 Girls (200k in July 2013)*

* 'Girls' passed 200k earlier than this date, it was just when it received a Silver certification as the BPI updated their archives and allowed songs from then on to be certified automatically.

That average for 'Hole in the Head' is quite outdated and is probably selling at a higher rate, possibly above 'Overload'.

Wow at how little 'Girls' is selling!

Thanks for posting Liam! :D

I guess Round Round might have overtaken Freak Like Me by now? That swap around feels a bit weird after 20 years! Round Round had a better chart run than Freak Like Me, and there was hardly anything between them in 2002 (Freak Like Me - 235k, Round Round - 225k) but by June 2009 Freak Like Me had widened the gap (almost 276k, vs Round Round 254k). Round Round doing better in the streaming age is interesting to see.

About You Now will very imminently certify 2xPlatinum! It'll join a fairly small list of multi platinum girl group singles, it seems there's under 20 of them. About You Now had sold just under 470k in June 2009, so it's come a long way since then. (Comparison to Girls Aloud... The Promise had sold 457k by June 2009, so only 13k between them at that point, but the streaming era has been relatively unkind to it... it was recently revealed to be on 765k, which now makes it 415k behind About You Now's 1.18m).

Wow, Girls really is rather forgotten! Also I'm a little surprised that Get Sexy has sold that sluggishly actually, given that for quite a while it was within their Top 10 on Spotify.

AYN is now 2x platinum :cheer:

edit: Oh I'm late to the party

Its funny to see how neck and neck the Angels lead offs have been over the past 20 years. Both are absolutely magical for different reasons

Thrilled AYN is among rarefied company, I just which it was a different track. Hopefully PTB will inch its way to the club as well over time. (Hate that such a pile of shite like the promise is on the numbers that Biology should be on instead)

What’s the next album or singles that are close to a new certification in the UK?

How I would love One Touch to hit platinum

Out of their albums, I'd assume Three and Taller has a bigger chance of going triple platinum before One Touch goes platinum. But studio album drip sales for them are minimal so that's unlikely to happen.

Out of their singles, I'm guessing Round Round will either go Gold or Push The Button will eventually go 2xPlatinum. But those are also a fair bit off. We need more sales updates (and the front page of this thread to be updated).
