It's time for the discussion we've all been too scared to have :o

It's time to own up :o How did you pronounce Dua Lipa when you first came across her? Let's get the English Language analysis started :magic:

Personally, I thought it was pronounced Dooa Lipa (as in lips), and was shocked to discover it was in fact leepa :o

I've always said it the same as her so yay at me being right :heehee:

I was shocked the other day when I heard the pronunciation, 'jew-a' Lipa, and thought I'd been wrong all along :o

I thought originally Dua Lipa was not her real name and was just a stage name (meaning 'two lips' in Italian or something). Was surprised when I looked it up on wikipedia and it was her real name.

Two Lips would be a great name for her second album!

I pronounced it Dewa Lip-a at the start I think, then D-ooa Lip-a when I heard her being called D-ooa on the radio but for some reason I didn't pick up on them pronouncing Lipa as Lee-pa. Only recently did I learn/pick up upon the correct pronounciation.

Still prefer Lip-a to Lee-pa though it rolls off the tongue better!

I thought it was 'due-a lee-pa' (as in the English word 'due') for a while

I spent a couple of minutes trying to break down the way I thought it was said phonetically and this is basically what I was trying to say.

I've always pronounced it Dua Lipa, so you can imagine my surprise when I discovered it was Dua Lipa :kink:
Jew-a-leep-a for me, don't think I'll change my pronounciation now tbh since I've become so accustomed to it.
I was 100% correct the whole time.

That's how I say it!

I’ve always said jew-a too, I know it’s wrong but it just feels weird to say doo-a now
