17th Birthday = 13 Votes

Welcome to Round 9, and yet again there was another double whammy as we lost both 'Birthday' & 'If We Ever Meet Again'. But for now let's talk about 'Birthday' which has by far received the most votes with 13, which is the joint 2nd highest amount of votes out of any round so far. This also means that we lose the 3rd single from 'Prism' leaving just 2 left in the running. Released in April 2014 as the 4th single from her 3rd album 'Prism' and despite receiving decent critical reviews and touted by fans as a standout track on the album, the song wasn't quite as successful as many thought, while it wasn't exactly a flop, it's success can be described best as moderate. So what went wrong, well honestly I don't know, maybe it got lost in the hype against 'DH' which was still pretty fresh on people's minds or was it that not very good overlong music video, or maybe it was seen as too much of a throwback to her 'Teenage Dream' era. Who knows as personally I really like this song and find it rather underrated with it's upbeat modern disco sound and fun catchy lyrics that are full of saucy innuendos. It's just an enjoyable piece of pop fluff that doesn't take itself too seriously, and yes it was a definite highlight on the album and full deserved it's single treatment. I like it and don't care what anybody thinks.

16th If We Ever Meet Again (Ft Timbaland) = 8 Votes

Finishing in 16th place is the 3rd non-album single to drop out 'If We Ever Meet Again' featuring Timbaland (remember him). Released way back in January 2010 and taken as the 2nd single from Timbaland's 3rd studio album 'Shock Value II' and became a big hit in the UK by reaching #3, while only receiving moderate success in the USA by scraping the top 40 at #37. This is another fun little bop with a killer chorus thanks mainly to Katy Perry who really injects a lot of energy into this and without her this wouldn't be half as good. This seems largely forgotten now, probably due to Timbaland not being relevant anymore and Katy just got even better and having many more successful hits after this and it's not hard to see why, it is very much of it's time and has become rather dated now and don't really go back to this anymore and looking back at the music video which was fun but Katy and Timbaland clearly lack chemistry together and to be honest while the song is fun, it doesn't really require repeated listens as you do start to see the flaws in the production that can get rather annoying after a while.

As for the other results, this time most of the songs got votes 'IKAG' & 'Feels' both received 5 votes, while 'WA' & 'SS' both received 4 votes each. 'TOTGA' & 'Roar' both got 3 votes, while 'HNC', 'CG' & 'TD' all got 2 votes, then finally 'WUIV' & 'Firework' both get 1 vote each. Only 4 songs didn't receive any votes.

Right then we are now down to our final 15 and same rules apply just vote for your least fave song by the next round which will be on Monday 4th September.

IWEMA is ridiculously under appreciated! So, so good :(

IKAG again :drama:

'I Kissed A Girl' really in the lead?

There's 4 or 5 trash songs that could go before this.

Still going for Swish but it looks that could be going out next anyway and I'm not much of a fan of IKAG either so yay at these results finally going my way :cheer:

I'll be OK as long as Teenage Dream, ET and Dark Horse are the top three.
