Have to say I'm surprised that Louisa Johnson didn't make an appearance or even release anything in Q4 (as of yet)

Considering there's gonna be a hell of a lot of "who the f*** are these", er, yeah, EMBARRASSING for the show.

Why do people NEED to know them? Sure, big names are great, but they've got three of them already and PRETTYMUCH were always going to get a slot really. I really don't think it's embarrassing, Simon using the show to launch his new boyband isn't the same as scraping the barrel and getting someone like Madness on.

I get Simon wanting to promote his acts but really wasting a FINAL slot for this PRETTYMUCH thing? Surely it'd be better to put Ed on the final and give PRETTYMUCH their promo slot this week.

The final will surely get more viewers = a better launch pad? Makes sense that way I'd say.

Little Mix, Sam Smith, Louis Tomlinson, PrettyMuch all confirmed for the final

No surprise at this line up, it was always a matter of time until this happened. Thank God for the mute button!

Edit: Apart from "PrettyMuch" who I've never heard of before so would be willing to give them a chance but I'm not expecting anything great!

LOL what? Madness are legendary act and have an iconic song. I don't really see the point of them being in TXF but it's not "scrapping the barrel". Having a D-list boyband and the least successful ex-1D however........ I mean, we know they're SYCO acts but yeah.

Eh I guess so but I don't think they're likely to take off much either way. It would seem like a more sensible priority to have the final packed with huge names I'd have thought.

I'd say it's still a good line-up anyway - Little Mix and Sam Smith are two of the biggest names in music right now and Louis Tomlinson is also a big enough name to draw viewers in. Not like it's PRETTYMUCH and three other little-known acts!

I'm well aware they're legendary but in 2016 for the X Factor final, they definitely felt like scraping the barrel. Louis is a way more relevant name and PRETTYMUCH are a new act waiting to be launched, it's not quite the same.

I miss the years where we would get performances from Rihanna, Pink, Taylor Swift, Beyoncé etc.

Even last year we had bigger acts in The Weeknd and Bruno Mars!

Poor Niall, would have made sense having him on.

The final is next week? What? I thought it was still about a month away, time flies when your not watching X Factor I guess

Worth noting that The Sun is *also* reporting P!nk as one of the final show acts, which would be big. If she's really on she'll join Sheeran, Sam Smith and maybe Harry Styles as the only big acts they had on this series.

I mean, they serve the purpose of giving The X Factor some credence. It's a bit like Paul McCartney a few years back. Obviously they're not as legendary as Paul but they add some ~real music~ glitz to a final. PRETTYMUCH, on the other hand, is a D-list boyband and Louis Tomlinson -- although he was part of a huge group -- is a C-list act at best. Having them on a final as big name acts is lol-worthy. That said, I agree with you there's probably more TXF rabid viewers (i.e.: young teens and tweens) interested in Louis than on Madness. But in terms of getting big names, which is what people supposedly expect from a final, they're definitely the definition of "scrapping the bottom of the barrel". Of course SYCO has an interest in promoting them but it does cheapen their "event television" brand even further imo.

I would say Little Mix are a "big act" as well... ^_^

Oops, forgot to mention them. They are!

And Rita... and Stormzy...

I really think everyone is underrating this years performers tbh. They're all big/the biggest names in the UK right now. Save for Dua (who I'm surprised hasn't been confirmed to perform tbh)

Really hoping Little Mix get the headline slot for the acts!

3/5 members of One Direction performing is actually ridiculous...

They are but watching them perform live is not a rarity or anything special. They have been on countless shows do various singles regularly for over 12 months now. Their fans are more than likely already going to be watching XF anyway.

Getting an act like Madness to perform is going to be more beneficial as it will bring in their fans who probably aren't your typical XF viewer to watch them perform.

Ridiculous to say getting Madness on is scraping the barrel and defending that new boybands appearance?!

Honestly I'd say the only people who stand out as not being "big names" this year would be Tokio Myers, Matt Terry (ofc he was always going to perform) and Fergie (big name years ago, not so much now), followed by PRETTYMUCH of course. It's been a great year for guests imo! Particularly as we're gettng less than usual thanks to the shorter live shows.

If you look at previous years the show got huge, international names like Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Elton John, Paul McCartney etc.

The names this year are on the whole nowhere near that calibre, some big, current names but not many long-term, huge, established acts.
