I was simply stating why Geri had referenced Thatcher and just because I don't care about the girls personal politics doesn't mean I'm supportive of the Tory government.

I don't like The Conservatives, Labour or the Lib Dems FYI.

Ah don't get me wrong, I was talking about Geri, definitely not saying you are a tory supporter! Haha

Tbf I am as anti conservative as you can get, I’ve yet to see a Tory politician I like (and yes I include Churchill in that) but I do kind of get the “girl power” of Thatcher. I mean she was the first (and at the time only) female prime minister in a time when men were still very much the more powerful gender. I do have to take my hat off to her for that. However it’s a real shame she was so terrible faith in female prime ministers was rock bottom ever since (and Theresa May did nothing to change that, except for that stupid dance).
Please can I say btw that while it is perfectly ok to state your own personal opinions on politics etc let’s just be careful not to attack others for their own politician opinions. Statements like “you’re part of the problem” can come across quite “attacky” even if they are not intended, let’s leave those to the politics group. 😊

2 - Say You'll Be There

2 - Who Do You Think You Are

1 - 2 Become 1

Radio 2 plays for Spice Girls in 2020:

30 - Wannabe

27 - Spice Up Your Life

27 - Stop

24 - Who Do You Think You Are

9 - Say You'll Be There

7 - 2 Become 1

5 - Viva Forever

4 - Mama

2 - Say You'll Be There (Instrumental)

2 - Too Much

2 - Wannabe (Instrumental)

1 - Spice Up Your Life (Morales Radio Mix)

= 142 plays

Playing the instrumentals seems random, but maybe they scrobble background music while the DJ talks?

A CRIME that Holler never gets any rotation. The UK is soooo fascistic :neyde:
It’s their third most played on Radio 1 this year?

STILL IT SHOULD BE NUMBA ONEEEE :cheeseblock:

Which is quite surprising for me! Go Holler.

Mel C's latest interview sheds some light on a few things for group stuff (her solo stuff I wrote in the Melanie C thread):

- There was no planned tour with the Spice Girls beforehand. They hadnt actually agreed to anything by the time the pandemic hit, but they were talking about it, making plans, but nothing had been agreed to (so those rumours of tours being planned and announcements being scheduled, etc was not true).

- A new tour is under discussion, but no idea when that will be

- If it is up to her, they would take the tour everywhere they havent been to yet. But everyone has different priorities.

- No creative discussions have been made yet. She would like it to be a show that is very similar to 2019's tour (SAD TIMES, JESUS MELANIE C GET OVER SOME OF YOUR BLOCKS URGH!!)

- For her, the magic of the Spice Girls is that they dont always do stuff together but when they do, it is so special (this is such a shit excuse to not do more lol what a waste...)

- WOMAN: She thinks the standard is at their level.

- The Movie will take years. They are only at the very very very beginning of it.

I suppose I see her point about retaining the magic by not doing things too regularly, but I wish they could see potential in themselves being more than just about the legacy and nostalgia! :(

Although speaking of legacy and nostalgia, I really like the look of these fan-made CDs! I'd love for there to be official anniversary re-releases that looked similar.

Same. This is what annoys me the most about Mel C. She has such a derrogative understanding of what the SPice Girls are, even today after last year's tour. Her insistance that nostalgia and touring is the only thing viable for her, and her 'unreleased tracks are shite so we will never release them', is really sad.

There's so much to discover about them from back then and now, it's a shame she is the main stumbling block. I think if her solo material had been interesting at all, or even unique or whatever, we could go 'oh yeah, she knows what she is talking about' but then you look at the 20 years of absolute crap she put out and you have to question if this is all about legacy at all or her own fear of going back to Spice Girls in any full time capacity.

In the end, it seems selfish, in my opinion, and makes me resent her solo music even more.

Wow. Could you sound any more bitter?

Get over yourself! This is HER work and she can do with it whatever she wants.

You are the one who is being SELFISH. If Victoria is allowed not to rejoin the Spice Girls, then Melanie is allowed not to like her / their unreleased songs.

I get what Mr. X is saying. Mel C is against releasing unreleased Spice Girls songs because she feels they are not up to standard. Yet, she doesn't apply the same quality control to her own solo career. This Time anyone?

This Time is a great album.

Well said !!!

I mean how dare Melanie C do as she pleases !!!

Oh shut up, I'm not bitter. I bought a couple of editions of her last album as it was really good and appreciate her solo work. But just annoys me that she doesnt apply the same amount of professionalism to the group that she does with her career.

By all means, go forth and release music on your own. But then dont shit on the group when anything they have put out over their discography is 1000x of more quality than 96% of your solo work over the past 20 years lol

What I mean is that she needs to get over herself when it comes to the group's music. She seems to think that only the hits and a couple of Spice/Spiceworld music matters because they are the iconic songs. But their discography is so broad, and varied and I just wished she gave it a bit of care.

Yes I do wish she would focus on teh group more as I pretty much couldnt care less for her solo music (apart from this year's era which was fun and a clear improvement). That's all lol
