The relationship with Modest went down hill fast. The girls felt that Modest didn't get them or their legacy and as soon as the tour ended they went their separate ways.

They still have a big team behind them should they need them, Simon and XIX, DawBell and CM.

I think what Mel C is getting at is the group discuss offers and if they say yes or no Geri takes the reigns in that in terms of corresponding with whoever was making the offer and making sure the girls are always on the same page.

Of course... it's just easier for the press to say that Geri herself if the manager rather than explain it properly...

Geri loves to take control of these things she always has, she sees herself as the leader I'm sure. As much as Geri can annoy me if she is forefront of something behind the scenes it's usually a good thing as she still has great drive to sort these things when she puts her mind to it.

Rainbow woman is a disaster in my eyes but she got it this far and is still savvy enough to have a rainbow woman van and get pictured in the street with it.

Geri just needs her drive funnelled into a better project which is hopefully spice girls related next year.

After she was the reason they cancelled the plans for a world wide tour last year, it DOES make me a bit more secure that she is the one driving it now, specially when the others have extensively talked about international tours. Let's hope Gerita doesnt have a change of heart as it is often the case ah :teresa:

The less we have to deal with Rainbow Woman, the better though. What a tragedy of a project...

Nobody knows the reason Geri pulled the plug in 2019 but I'd hazard a guess it was maybe because she wasn't the driving force behind it. 2007, Viva Forever the musical and 2019 tour all started with Geri pushing hard for it.

Well, great. I do hope they put their minds to it properly cos those 3 projects were cute but lacking overall. Last year's tour was a step in the right direction: they must go deeper into the future as a group!

Spice Girls have won buzzjacks ultimate group competition!!!

😍💖

i think i may of been was the only regular poster that did, just shows how universal they are ?
Well done to the Spice Girls for winning Buzzjack's ultimate group, not an easy category to win.
So rude to talk about their upbringing and education like she knows them personally and Carol Smilie with a big grin on her face...
What a rude woman. I mean first of all so entitled in her privileged educated life thinking that those who don’t have the same opportunities she had deserve to succeed. Second of all she became famous in fashion for dressing the Sex Pistols you really want to talk about people having no manners etc look at your own roots because they were famous for basically being horrid...

well, yeah she was vicious about it and she probably went too far and ended up being super mysoginistic towards the girls. I hunch is that she didnt quite appreciate at the time the fact that the Spice Girls were indeed breaking bariers for women.

HOWEVER, she is absolutely right in her takes on the uber capitalism of the Spice Girls and business men taking advantage of that.

As a fan, it is something that irks me a lot (together with some of them being tories and obsessed with the UK flag), although you can say that capitalism was the 'devils advocate' that allowed the Spice Girls to reacg so many across the world and provide solidarity and advance women's rights and visibility.

Ultimately, that was also their short-coming, as the business was so demanding that it broke some of them as people, and thus the group.

We have to remember that 1996-1998 was incredible if you were a young kid obsessed with the Spice Girls, but actually the uber-consumerism that they brought to the mainstream of pop music had huge negative effects too.

They were their own demise, they didn't do anything that The Beatles hadn't done prior to them and they were together for 10 years before their egos got in the way... Spice Girls egos just came about A LOT quicker with fallours, Geri leaving, solo career ambitions getting in the way... that didn't do much for women's image despite them trail blazing female friendship and girl power.

In some ways Westwood has a point when she says they were not professional I mean 2 of them got pregnant midway through a huge world tour which then meant they had to take a break afterwards. We know that the only reason Melanie C went solo is because she didn't want to be doing nothing while they were taking a year out for maternity, she very much wanted to get a third album out in 1998, as I am sure Emma would have done too. Mel B and Victoria put that to bed (although Natasha showed in Atomic Kitten a few years later that didn't need to be the case  ).

Was it such a big deal with The Beatles having all those business deals made by men, no, so really for it to be an issue with the girls just because they were women is kind mysoginisic and anti feminist in itself really.

Emma's 'What Took You So Long' and Geri's 'It's Raining Men' are both included in the Official Charts '100 songs turning 20 in 2021' Playlist on Spotify

Emma is Track 9 and Geri Track 12

They also list the singles that reached The Top 10 in the article too, but they've missed out Mel B's 'Feels So Good' and it's not on the Playlist either :(

Always great to see Em and G getting some attention. Shame that playlist only has 33 likes though :arrr:
