^ She could release her book(s) after the tour.

After all, the girls are not getting any younger.

Their Instagram stories teased a Spiceworld snow globe merchandise item. Seems like a Christmas range is coming soon then.

We want a tour - instead we get a snow globe and yet another hoodie.

The fact they charge a fortune for tat is the most nostalgic thing of all of this.

Apparently the legends slot for 2024 glasto has been booked and it's "female". :kink:

THIS!

Also, her 'book' is a side project, every other British celeb has a children's book out there, it's nothing new or special. Has it gotten anywhere into the Sunday Times list?

Has it gotten anywhere into the Sunday Times list?

Not that I'm aware of.

By the way, I've just noticed it's currently selling for only £3.99 on Amazon UK:

I'd say it's probably most likely to be Madonna if anyone!

Seen as Madonna has never done Glasto I think she would only do it if she was a headliner not the legend slot I'd say. Not that I'm saying it would be the Spice Girls just I think Madonna would want one of the big headliners slots or nothing. The legend slot has the last few years been seen more as the fun slot for an artist you wouldn't think might be at Glastonbury.

Not directed at Geri but is there much if any profit in a £3.99 book? Amazon have to take their cut, printing, shipping to Amazon. It cant be more than pence profit on a price like that? If I remember correctly Emma made the Times best sellers list doing about 5.5k copies for #5 if you are only making 50p per book you need to be shifting a lot to make it worth while. It is why vinyl and so many of the formats in music these days are so expensive as they aren't selling massive amounts anymore so stinging fans hard with big price tags.

Paperbacks are usually 3.99 anyway. If the hardback was that cheap then I'd worry.

So we wont just get a snowglobe for xmas what else are you wanting or expecting with it? For me -

Dream -

Christmas Wrapping vinyl, side A Christmas Wrapping side B radio edit. A nice 7inch black vinyl with the cover looking like a wrapped present with the name tag reading 'Spice Girls' and Christmas Wrapping on it in handwriting with a kiss. They I think have a real chance to make the song a Christmas staple after last year. The radio edit would help airplay. A release date of say Dec 7th and they drop a lyric video for it the same day.

Christmas cards, pack of 6, 5 individual ones, 1 group.

A nice lush scarf, nothing too tacky, something wearable.

Think we will get -

Another Jumper, hopefully better than last year with a hoodie option this year too for it.

A tshirt with a group shot on it.

A Santa hat with Spice Girls written on it.

Couple of old unseen interviews from 1997, around the release of Spiceworld, have surfaced:

I love them! Their energy and bond together is unmatched since :teresa:

The book thing is gonna end soon

Is it? Doesn't she have the sequel coming in late 2024?

With The Beatles releasing a new song, it does make me wonder how a new Spice Girls song would do if it was properly marketed and promoted.
The book thing is gonna end soon but I don't think they will tour anytime soon either

-_- I don't think they will tour whilst Geri is in 'author' mode... I dont see it in 2024 either to be honest...

Probably not as successful but it would do good numbers, I think. But they (and the record company) would have to commit to its promotion!

A new study in America shows that out of all Billboard Charts, "Wannabe" is at the #2 spot for overall most recognised song from the 90s, behind only Britney's "Baby One More Time" and Celine Dion's "My Heart WIll Go On" (both are tied at #1).

It also shows as the second most recognised for Millenials overall and third by Gen Z generations.

Of course, remember this USA based study ONLY!

Pretty good still after all these years :cheer:

This study is actually a really nice surprise as I mostly thought the Spices/their team had really dropped the ball in maintaining their legacy in the states. It's pretty rare that I catch Spice songs anywhere...even Wannabe.

I work with some people in their early 20s...and they chime in on 'old music' (...oof) every once in a while. The Spice Girls have come up before...which, in itself, is a good thing. Granted, this is a pretty isolated sampling of a few dozen people in one work place...but what I found from this specific group was that they were aware of a group named the Spice Girls...and that they had nicknames...and one of them is married to David Beckham. They were unaware that one of them famously left the group. Most of them know Wannabe (though they wouldn't have known it by that title)...and two of them made the argument that the group was also behind Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.

They definitely knew a lot more about the Backstreet Boys, Britney, and NSYNC...which have become synonymous in the US with retro 90s music. But really, the machine never stopped working for those acts. At no point did Baby One More Time, Bye Bye Bye, and I Want It That Way ever fade from the US public consciousness. The songs are always being used in one way or another...ads, TikToks...whatever's keeping music relevant at the moment, those songs are there.

It's a weird thing that the Spices were at their peak so shortly before these other acts picked up their torch...and yet the perception seems to be that the Spices came about a decade earlier than these other acts did.

But. All that said. It could be a regional thing? The US is big. Maybe the Spices continue to get more attention in places and online spaces that I just don't see? Of course, I trust this study way more than my little workplace sampling.

Geri features in the new Robbie Williams documentary, with archive footage from Summer 2000. There's a funny moment where they make fun of Victoria's 'Out Of Your Mind'. All harmless of course.
