Interesting discussion going on in here. I very rarely comment and usually just lurk. However, quite a little bit of misinformation has made me sign in to comment.

Beyoncé is not a singles artist out of choice. She has very purposefully sabotaged her own solo singles by not releasing them on iTunes, not listing her YouTube videos, and not releasing her new music on Spotify. I’m almost sure Formation would have been at least a number 2 hit had she released everything simultaneously. However, it was a Tidal exclusive and was actually only released on iTunes 3 month after official release.

Beyoncé went out of the way after the 4 era to sabotage her own single success to prove a point that the ‘album’ was the most important thing. Drunk In Love was a hit, but could have undoubtedly been much bigger here in the UK, despite being number 2 in the US. It definitely felt bigger than its chart position in the UK. Beyoncé is probably one of the few ‘pop artists’ nowadays who can release an album and have it go to number 1, regardless of whether she’s had a hit lead single.

I have no idea what will happen with Perfect. I don’t know why she’s doing these features. Is she trying to test the waters for her own release? Ed clearly says that he ‘got Bey to do a collab’ meaning he asked her, not the other way around. Maybe she just really like the song? Will she even be credited if it goes to number 1? Mi Gente was for Puerto Rico, so I don’t really count that.

I liked her collab with Eminem (mainly her part due to her vocals), but it was pretty obviously not ‘hit material’.

I’m looking forward to it because I like the song and Bey’s voice should sound really good on it.

Hope you’re all good :)

I wouldn't say beyonce sabotaged herself, not putting her songs on Spotify was an economic decision to push Tidal, which didn't work

You’re using one instance. Beyoncé also didn’t put her song on iTunes or list her video on YouTube. That’s self sabotage. She made a point of not needing hits. Who knows, maybe now she wants to go back to 2008 commercial Bey. However, the last few years she clearly went out of her way to prove herself as an artist and not just some generic pop artist.

Listen, it’s not like Bey needs hits anymore. She can have hits if she wants, but she’s proven that she’s very capable of selling tour tickets and albums without them. It’s easy to forget that Bey has been in the industry for 20 years. She dominated the industry commercially for many years, and stated herself that she was growing tired of chasing after the next hit.

I’ve seen some comments saying that these features are to help keep her name out there/relevance for those who use Spotify, Apple Music etc aka streaming music but not using Tidal. Before someone shoots it down saying Beyonce doesn’t need to ‘keep her name out there’, think about those who only listen to music through Spotify. It ends up that they don’t hear any new Beyoncé music!

I can’t really imagine her on the song though, it is very odd. Nothing will beat her Runnin feature

Also, people are saying pop-Beyoncé may be returning!

I love Beyonce as she is, because she doesn't chase trends to get hits or pander to whatever is popular, she has her vision and message and puts it across in whatever style she wants since her self titled. I wouldn't be totally averse to Popyonce being back as I Am Sasha Fierce is a fab album, but all these features just seem a bit out of character for her, as she isn't someone who normally does this and is one that level where she sort of transcends music and charts, but I guess keeping her name out there for Spotify is a good explanation. Anytime I play a Lemonade track at pres for example people are like "oh this sounds like Beyonce but I haven't heard it before"

Of course, she could most likely still get big hit singles if she wanted to, and she's still obviously an absolutely massive name. I'm not trying to understate that. My point is just that her name alone isn't going to make 'Perfect' go to #1 for months, it might well do that if it's a well-done remix (and the sales it will need are not particularly high of course) but it's hardly a given like some people seem to be assuming.

Sure she doesnt chase trends everyone copied her remixing Latino hts

Where do we think Post Malone can get a few album tracks to in the chart this week? Same with Taylor Swift, I could feasibly see End Game debuting in the top ten and Post Malone getting a couple of top ten newies too

 18. P!nk - Beautiful Trauma

I think that's the highest it's been so far? Graham Norton tomorrow and X-factor final this weekend. Hope those push it into the top 5 of iTunes and entice Capital & Heart to start playing the song.

Kelly Carpool:

425. Love So Soft

547. Because of You

587. Whole Lotta Woman

761. Since U Been Gone

1185. What Doesn't Kill You (Stronger)

Other Kelly tracks:

159. Underneath the Tree

335. Underneath the Tree

482. Meaning of Life

607. Piece by Piece (Idol Version)

612. Underneath The Tree

1159. Run Run Rudolph

Hmm... I'm sure they haven't moved in the last couple of hours.

Hoping they can pick up soon. Her Carpool is brilliant. (She also gets THAT note in LSS!!)

Mariah rising like crazy now

Likely due to it being December 1st tomorrow. Most Christmas songs rise a lot the beginning of December before falling back a little in the second week.

Well whatever happens with the edyonce track can’t do much damage with the original sitting at 2 already
I doubt Louis would be challenging for iTunes #1 even without the Ed remix. I don't remember 'Back To You' ever getting there and there seemed to be more hype around that.
Forgot it was 1st Dec tomorrow lol wondered why AIWFCIY was already top 30 - people adding it for tomorrow!!
