I meant in the style of the likes of MC Sar and the Real McCoy - Another Night. 'River' remixed to that style would be good I think, it has the right structure with the rapped verses and the big chorus for it!

 

Every song in this top 10 peaked at #1, #2 or #3. ohmy.gif I wonder if that's ever happened any other time!

Congrats to Brenda Lee, the oldest living artist in the charts this week. She celebrated her 73rd birthday last week!

 

This is a terrible way to find out that Paul McCartney has died. :lol:

 

(If, by any chance, he hasn't, he was 75 years, 6 months and 4 days old yesterday, when the chart came out. That makes him two and a half years older than Brenda Lee! He's at #38.)

Why have most of the Christmas songs gone down a bit in the chart this week? Surely they would have gone up as they were more played on Spotify as Christmas got closer?

 

The snow and ice went away the rain came back so people don’t feel as Christmassy :P

Really annoyed at them playing all the same stuff as last week & skipping all the songs they missed, would have been much better for example to play the Xmas tracks overlooked last week.

 

And surprised at all the Xmas tracks stalling, thought they'd all climb much higher & we'd have a few more joining the top 40, next week maybe.

You always assume Brenda is older as she broke through earlier but was very young when she started getting hits!!

When Justin Bieber was up against NHS Choir two years ago in the race for Xmas #1, he was telling people to buy the NHS Choir song as he didn’t care about whether he got Xmas #1 or not. Ed Sheeran should have done the same thing for George Michael. George was even telling people to buy DTKIC and not to buy LC back in 1984

We've just got an automatic midweeks update at Music Week but unfortunately it's from last Wednesday. I doubt any midweeks were even compiled today as I doubt there is anyone in at the OCC offices. Someone may be in tomorrow and we may get an update but I'm guessing it's highly unlikely. In any case I expect the top 3 to be Ed / Eminem / Wham! in that order.

 

Also there's likely no-one in the Music Week offices this week as the next issue of the magazine isn't published for another fortnight. There may be an automatic midweeks update at Music Week on Wednesday (the midweeks charts appear to be automtically uploaded at 5.45pm) but again it's possible it'll just be a repeat of last Wednesday's which is what I think happened last Christmas / New Year week.

 

I was going to post the above in last week's midweeks thread but the thread has been closed.

We haven't opened a mid chart topic as it's very unlikely that we'll get any mids this or next week. On the other hand though it means the chart will throw up a lot of surprises. :D

Wouldn't surprise me if Wham or Mariah were no1!
