Kylie's version of the Eartha Kitt song 'Santa Baby' has become a bit of a Christmas essential. Originally just a B-side back in 2000, the song has become more and more established, with Kylie's sultry tone to the already suggestive lyrics instantly recognisable. Are you a fan of the song? Is it deserving of being a Christmas classic or would you rather Kylie had covered something else that could have been just as successful?

Don't like any version of the song much now. The vocal style tries to be too sexy and is a bit annoying to me.

 

Used to like the song more though when I was younger.

I love it. Kylie's version is the ultimate for me; her singing style is pretty synonymous with the song now and I remember seeing the TOTP performance as a kid with that santa nightie.

 

Was surprised to see just yesterday that Kylie had actually performed the song the year before her version was recorded:

 

I love how in the TOTP performance she gives a great vocal with no microphone :kink:

Don't like the whole Santa Baby song, no matter who sings it. Remember how disappointed I was when this was released as Please Stay's b-side back then. Never thought it would turn into a small UK-Xmas classic.

Eartha Kitt's version is still the ultimate one.

 

I guess Kylie's version is better than the odd comedy "Chipmunk on helium" version Madonna did, so there's that.

I dunno, sometimes I enjoy it if I'm in the right mood but at other times it just grates on me.

Kylie is my go-to version if I ever want to listen to this :lol:

Kylie's version is great - miles better than Madonna's awful version. Its become a bit of a classic and finally made the T40!

I love my Xmas songs but Santa Baby just doesn't go with the season and is a bit creepy tbh. Anyway Kylies sounds like Earthas for me so I listen to the original, think it's just Kylie has a lot of fans in this generation so it has taken on a life of its own!

Eartha first, Kylie second - but love both !

I have to say I dislike Santa Baby but I also love it for the fact it gave Kylie a belated additional Top 40 entry and seems to be becoming a Christmas staple - hopefully it will be high up on playlists this year on Spotify and Apple :cheer:

Not a big fan of the song but i share the same sentiment it gave Kylie a belated additional Top 40 entry and it has respectable sales.

I would welcome it charting again this year and future years to keep Kylie on the singles chart.
