I would expect there to be quite a fair amount of business this season, what with there being a World Cup in 6 months time.

That said, I can't really see any of the big teams spending too much (Van Dijk aside).

He would be a good signing for us, but half the world will be after him too. We certainly need another midfielder in the summer after Keita. With Van Dijk now we are actually not too far away from having a good team.

Has a very impressive scoring record in Turkey, let's see how he adapts to the English game. Everton finally buying a striker though!

Impressive record but a baffling career move. Still don't think he is the answer to Everton's problems but we'll see.
Barkley sort of makes sense, and at that fee I'm sure Chelsea will be able to turn a hefty profit even if he barely plays, but not sure what he adds to the squad that Loftus-Cheek wouldn't. He now goes back to Chelsea in the summer with probably 5 midfielders ahead of him.

It is a baffling signing, totally made by Chelsea and not Conte. He is not even that good and like you say Loftus-Cheek is a very similar type of player. I can only assume it is to do with the English quota, same with Drinkwater.

Has Loftus-Cheek really been that spectacular this season though? Granted he's playing for Palace but he'd be able to stand out more there and 1 goal & 4 assists is hardly dazzling statistics.

Barkley has certainly fallen from grace these past few seasons, but £15M for a young English midfielder in this day & age is still an absolute steal. Sure he'll be relegated to cup games & the odd European match but that's an improvement on being barraged week in week out by your former Everton manager!

Barkley just does not have the discipline or consistency to be a top player imo, also I'm sure he is like 24/25. Lofus-Cheek is a lot more raw and less experienced, but he definitely has a similar ceiling (if not higher) than Barkley who is your typical MOTD player. Just a slightly bizarre move, he would play a lot more at Spurs if they were still interested in him.

Apparently although nothing confirmed that Coutinho is moving to Barcelona for £142m.

He's gone pretty much. Yet again we sell our best player and clubs are going to fleece us in January.

I'm old enough to remember when Alan Ball moved to Arsenal for a then record transfer fee of £220,000. That's the equivalent of around £3 million in today's money.

Basically, blame Neymar and PSG!

PSG/The Government of Qatar have destroyed the transfer market. UEFA can't stand by as they did with Chelsea/City and have to actually deal with this state sponsored distortion.
That would definitely be a downgrade for Theo Walcott, I can only think that it's purely to guarantee first team football because other than that Everton don't look like they're going to challenge for any trophies any time soon and when it comes to European football it's Europa League at best for them.

Looks like Sanchez is heading to Man Utd (or Chelsea). Good signing, fits exactly the type of short-term Mourinho profile. Can see why Man City walked away from the deal, £30m deal my arse
