Even if they just playlist new songs quicker!

I think they do this already. There are plenty of up and coming acts as well as new music from established artists in their day to day playlist. Even though stuff like Portugal. The Man has been on the playlist for ages, the majority of the audience will still think of it as 'new' even though its old to us :P

is this not old news? Radio 1 play at least 50% new British music anyway, I'd have thought.

 

Anyway...

 

Ofcom has also considered the effects of streaming, which means that Radio 1 playlists could feature greater additions from “new music” defined by a period of 12 months from its first release or instead six weeks from the date it first enters the Top 20.

 

so new music doesn't necessarily mean it was released just last week.

Fell a bit behind (oop) but I've updated the Greatest Hits playlist this morning, but it does not include every track from this weekend because who on Earth has time for that? (Me maybe).

It’s just been announced Nick Grimshaw is to leave the Radio 1 Breakfast Show in September

 

Nothing on the BBC website as yet, but This was posted on the Radio 1 Twitter

 

“It was always my dream to do the breakfast show and I’m very grateful that I got to live my dream every day for what will be nearly 6 years. But 6 years is a long time and this isn’t a forever job. I had the time of my life"

Edit:- Now on the Newsbeat site. Grimmy will be replaced by Gregg James with Grimmy going to drive so it’s basically a swap.

Not sure if this is already known (it sounded new when they were talking this morning) but from September Grimmy and Greg are switching programmes.

 

Nick will have done 6 years by then which has absolutely flown by!!!
