January 14, 20187 yr Maybe Sam Smith didn't submit noms purposely...he probably can't stand the fact losing everything to Ed Sheeran!!! And when did he become so hated in BJ but you're all ok with Ed :snif:
January 14, 20187 yr Predicts :kink: British Male Solo Artist Rag'n'Bone Man British Female Solo Artist Dua Lipa (or Paloma, can’t see it being any of the others) British Breakthrough Act J Hus (I want it to be Dua but J Hus is also great) British Group The xx (Gorillaz pulling a Best British Group win would be superb, but unlikely :P) Mastercard British Album of the Year Stormzy - Gang Signs & Prayer British Single Clean Bandit feat. Zara Larsson - Symphony (New Rules, Shape Of You, Human all equally as possible winners) British Artist Video of the Year Dua Lipa - New Rules (pretty crap year for British videos aside from this) International Male Solo Artist Kendrick Lamar International Female Solo Artist Pink International Group Arcade Fire (or The Killers) Edit: Just seen there is a thread for Brit predicts in the lounge, if someone could move me that’d be nice :) Edited January 14, 20187 yr by Dexton
January 14, 20187 yr sam's label must be furious , they're gonna miss a lot of sales and $$$ cos of that to keep the album selling they really needed those nominations
January 14, 20187 yr Yeah. Wouldn't surprise me if that was the case and at which point I will lose all credibility for the Brits.
January 14, 20187 yr Knowing him he probably like pulled his eligibility and is being eligible next year, not wanting to go up and lose against Ed  But yes that would strip the Brits of any credibility tbh, I know they bend the rules a bit like nominating Amy Winehouse for best female because of the film about her (I guess you could coun the soundtrack as an "album", but then so is Glory Days deluxe if we're doing that :P), but that was really just to make up numbers. It would be ridiculous if Sam was winning in 2019 when later albums are eligible this year. At least the Grammys are more stringent so you know where they're going, nothing surprises me with the BRITs anymore though...

January 14, 20187 yr I prefer Sam over Ed but both are pretty terrible. The go to music for stay at home mums. Ed is definitely worse. He is SO smug and is SO PROUD of making manufactured McDonald's music for radio.
January 14, 20187 yr Author ^ As much as they are both disliked, they are popular with the general public and have both had massive success recently. It would be odd if it wasn't at least recognised with a nomination. But it doesn't nrcessarily mean Ed deserves to win anything :P
January 14, 20187 yr It is either, 1.) Sam Smith and the Brits agreed to push him back a year to have back to back years of Sheeran-Smith Brits 2.) The X Factor thing where they are trying to make Ed seem even bigger by not having a rival
January 14, 20187 yr Imo, Stormzy is a greater threat to Ed winning than Sam Smith this year! (If Sam was nominated of course!)

January 14, 20187 yr I get why Sam would pull out if eligibility and still want to perform (£££££££ in album sales) but it would seem an odd move given the press are already dubbing it a snubbing. Also it would be odd for the Brits to keep him in the schedule if this is the case. Just because Ed would win tho? If true, he’s obviously very egocentric and there’s no guarantee he would win next year. Oh for the chance of a shock-Ed not winning anything! It most definitely won’t happen, even if the Brits juries snub him, he’d probably win the public voted best single. But we can dream.

If true, he’s obviously very egocentric and there’s no guarantee he would win next year. This was literally my thought - does he just expect no British male artist to release an album this year? A fairly decent, if surprising, set of nominees apart from the random British Female nominees. Would've liked more British females in other categoties too other than Dua but I'm all for her sweeping the awards *.*
January 15, 20187 yr Why Alicia is nominated ?.. Her last album was released in 2016 and it flopped They needed to snub Katy and Lana.
January 15, 20187 yr I hope Rag’n’Bone Man performs his new single “Die Easy” and for the BRITs 2018 compilation seeing as “Havana” will be on there, I hope they include the full version and NOT the NOW 98 edit Edited January 15, 20187 yr by Hadji
January 20, 20187 yr Why have they ruined the Brits trophy? It's so ugly and it was lovely as that traditional statue before! I'd be gutted if I won a Brit and it was one of those hideous polka dot or stupid red cuboid things....
