Let's have another one of these for this year! What are your BJSC 2018 predictions?

I'll start with Taahino finally getting a top 10 and Aeroche winning twice this year.

Has Desbuanda had a proper HIT lately? cos that would be nice <3 I think I've given them 15 points on five occasions, but never a top pointer sadly. (Bré you can help me out if inaccurate x)

I predict Dalisska to return, lmao who am I kidding :cheeseblock: (am I using that right)

This will finally be the year I fail to make the year end top 10 and Altyr gently fades into obscurity (because obviously I'm only going to predict my own fate).

Well first let's see how I did last year

Aeroche will win twice.
Only won once.

One of Numbers and N DNTN will win, but not both.
Neither won.

Medhelnia, Dobago, Cadelicia, Ramrynia, Ultraviolenceland, Unovia and Jadakissnia will get their first wins. At least three of those anyway.
And three of them did *.*

Buzzjack Mountain will get a surprise top 10 hit.
They didn't but got a surprise top 20 with CENTVRIES 'Tension'.

Zanmatony will get a few big hits, but no win.
Alas, they did not win, but came close to the top 10 on a few occasions.

Taahino will finally get a top 10. As will Summericia.
Well Summericia did.

South Danaelanda will have a lot of flop entries but one top 10 hit as well. Definitely not winning anytime soon haha.
Well I was quite wrong here oops.

Botanikka will have a great year. Though I'm not sure about them winning a contest.
Well they came 33rd in the EOY, not sure that counts as great, though they did send a few great songs of course.

---

So this year I'll predict the following:

- Aeroche will win once. Only once.

- Jadakissnia will finally win an edition but neither Ramrynia or Cadelicia will (SOZ).

- Taahino will actually get a top 10 this year.

- We will see more repeat winners than new winners.

- It will be a great year for Persephonia, Trifoski and Terra Avium.

- Terra Avium will get their first main contest win. As will New Lexico.

- Aeroche and Cor Lupus will finally end their Q streaks in the same contest, and both with a song widely expected to qualify. Trifoski will hence take the crown of longest reigning consecutive qualifier.

- One of Beaverdonia and Buzzjack Mountain will reach the top 10 on one occasion.

- Thelonia will have a bit more success this year but still DNQ where they shouldn't.

- And finally, South Danaelanda will get at least one top 10 hit but no win this time.

Desbuanda haven't come top 15 since 'TV' came 2nd like 3 years ago - if there is justice in the world 'Sympathy' will break that this month ;o Can confirm you've given them 15 five times (and also 13 one other time) but never yet an 18!

As for the latter part only you can make that happen again!!1 Did you tell him about the triple impact of Dalisska in AC yet tbh? :magic:

I'm gonna say this is the year Terra Avium finally win the main contest, AC to have been a good omen please B-)

I will have a top 10 this year. I'm going to be conservative so I'll surprise you when I finally pull that winner out of the bag.

Well, aside from the same contest (which is amusing and poetic) that's a given, it will end eventually, and neither Leww or Cody really ever send songs that aren't expected to qualify because they always qualify so no one expects them to not qualify. Though I'll grant you that I thought Cody would be out for sure this month.

I don't know who will win, I'll say New Lexico, if not this contest then another contest later in the year.

This thread casually exposing the extent of my flop form... <_<

But yes, I’d say I had a stronger reaction to Zola Jesus’ 16th placing last year than Eves’ silver haha. Not that I tend to enter songs based on their hit potential, but the drought’s been real.

And don’t think I haven’t noticed those +15s Mattias!!! Still holding out for that elusive top-pointer but the steady support’s very much appreciated. :D

(I predict an Aeroche win x)

I feel I'm gonna disappoint you all lol~ That said, it's a good omen to actually qualify in the first contest of the year as that hasn't happened for three years!

New Lexico will get a first win, if not this contest, eventually~ + an Aeroche win just because.

Well, I predicted i would win last year and I got that right, so to keep my predicitions 100%, i’ll predict a win for.... (picks name at random)

RÉPUBLIQUE D’ASHTON.

You’re welcome.

I’m backing 2018 for the return of Ashton to the winners circle

Didn’t see this when I was typing.

oh my, that's kinda frustrating haha! I remember a similar thing happening with Jadakissnia where I had given 2 or 3 15s and pointed out how there hasn't been an 18 yet and then I gave 18 just a few contests later. But 5 15s with no 18 is quite something else!

and yeah, I did but I think he wasn't paying attention / didn't care much :kink: Still, I was pleased to see that impact in AC actually ('Words' nearly made my votes too, which would've meant that all three entries were in my votes!).

Taahino will have two top 3 hits. The year of Taahino is upon us.

Inconceivable xx

It's not quite as 'bad' as Land of DW giving me 15 points six times (including 3 in a row and later another 2 in a row) and never an 18 :D (though I of course greatly appreciate all those 15s Frank xx and in fairness I have also returned 2 15s but no 18s)

Okay here goes

• FSR Rontvia will have a much stronger year than last year and it sees them going into the EOY top 10 again

• someone sends a song that everyone expects to be an autoveto

• the contest size doesn’t go any higher than 65. There will be a couple contests with 60+ but I think those days are over now

• a song will be confirmed by three countries and get vetoed. Those three countries end up DNQing with their replacements

• half of Ramrynia’s entries will be national final rejects

• Rep d’Ash sees their first top 3 in five years

• some of the “hiatuses” taken after the 100th end up being shorter than expected

• Aeroche wins in the last contest of the year. AGAIN.

• Jadakissnia will FINALLY see a win but will get a DNQ streak for the first time

• someone gets banned midway through the year

And finally because I know this is gonna happen:

• Silas will threaten to permaban someone

I’m not entirely sure what I’m expecting for myself, last year was a year of proving myself, and I think this year will be a bit more laidback in terms of overall success. I’m planning on a narrative for my next three entries actually.

I will also predict that Cody will post about people being banned at least 3 times during every contest for whatever inexplicable reason.
