May 10, 20187 yr I prefer Sanctify over this, but I still quite like it. It's grown on me after a few listens. I can see it being more chart-friendly than Sanctify.
May 10, 20187 yr I think it's slightly better than 'Sanctify', but it's still not quite what I'm wanting from them.
May 10, 20187 yr at least Sanctify is no longer my least favourite single by them. cannot see myself returning to this at all.
May 11, 20187 yr This is a cute enough bop I guess but it feels like they thought Sanctify was too risky so went as safe and basic as possible....
May 12, 20187 yr Why does it all sound like they didn't have anything so the label just sent Olly to writers to get something together asap?
May 12, 20187 yr ouch just realised the newie is credited to Olly + Steve Mac (Westlife, Ed) :/ aka the most evil songwriter/producer out there looks like the band don't write altogether anymore at least the album has a couple tracks cowritten with Greg Kurstin
May 12, 20187 yr Steve Mac is actually a brilliant songwriter. I’m obsessed with this, so much better and instant than Sanctify!
May 14, 20187 yr I'll go against the grain and say that I've been a fan of both offerings from the album so far. Don't get me wrong, I'd love another 'King'/'Shine' moment but I don't see anything wrong with their sound this time around. 'If You're Over Me' has been a lot more instant than 'Sanctify' which admittedly did take several listens to get used to; I think when the hot weather returns, the track will be elevated further.
May 14, 20187 yr The music video of "If You're Over Me" will be premiered this Tuesday. Also, the track will be pushed in the US, which means that this is going to be the lead single there. ETA: The music video is available exclusively on Apple Music and you could watch it here. Edited May 14, 20187 yr by Juan Carlos 🌴
May 15, 20187 yr Steve Mac is actually a brilliant songwriter. I’m obsessed with this, so much better and instant than Sanctify! Agreed, Steve Mac deserves way more credit than writing for Westlife over 10 years ago and ONE Ed Sheeran song (Shape of You) :') I really like If You're Over Me, both songs so far have been solid, if not quite up to the highs of the holy trinity of King, Shine and Eyes Shut.
May 15, 20187 yr I've found this a bit more of a grower and really like it now! Very upbeat and positive. Can't wait for the album.
May 15, 20187 yr In love with this a lot right now, constantly on repeat. Not a massive fan of the video tho!
May 16, 20187 yr The one thing it isn't is indie by any stretch of the imagination. Hoping this is a pop effort on the album and not an indication of what the album will be. No, really not into this at all still, feels like it's trying to steal Troye Sivan's thunder.

No, really not into this at all still, feels like it's trying to steal Troye Sivan's thunder. I don’t think it’s ‘trying to steal Troye Sivan’s thunder’ at all. These songs so far haven’t been very similar to Troye’s first album. The only thing similar is both are currently pop sounding and both Olly and Troye are gay. I can’t really see any other close similarities.

The styling of Olly in this video is exactly the same as My My My
