It's very easy to say that audience "don't care" or "can't connect" to her, but with the main commercial radio stations not playing her and it not being added to any of the key Spotify playlists, what chance does it even have of reaching out to them in the first place?

Dancing is so so generic sounding (basically sounds like a Kygo produced track) anyway so she and her management have tried her best to fit in with the current sound, and still it hasn't worked the best.

Maybe she would have been better going deep or tech house with a dance producer on board and appealing to that market!

I think Kylie's new single at least is very 'Kylie' in 2018 and that's exactly what *I* want from her.

the label should pay and have it added to hot hits on spotify, that's how it works when songs are non-spotify-esque

or do you think sam smith's too good at goodbyes was spotify-friendly? Sam smith is more Adult-oriented than anything

and total opposite of what people stream in spotify, he's the anti-drake, the anti-post malone

but his label got a deal with spotify and he was insta-added as song #1 on all imaginable playlists, of course hot hits and nmf,

and he even had a video... and of course the deal worked and got tons of streams

that's how you play the game and how you make sure you got a comeback

of course not all artist can get this kinda deal, but sure with a little investment, paying a few $$$ to spotify, something can be done

Sam Smith does have the hype behind him though; there were expectations that his comeback would get to number 1.

What happened to Emeli Sandé with the lead single from her 2nd album - I forget what it was even called?!

I think era 3 will really struggle for Sam.
Yup, it’s clear that he won’t get a hit songle again from this album. He will need to rely on features I think.

I reckon Sam is begging Disclosure to do another collab to give him a much needed hit single in-between eras. And it'll happen cos Disclosure really need the hit too.
Sam should get MK to remix an album track for single release - his remix of MOMM never gets old and he's bigger than ever right now. Sam needs an upbeat hit like Lana with SS.

It’s only people, like Sam Smith, who are desperate for a hit single that have to buy a place on Spotify playlists.

Kylie’s Label could easily do it, but she and they are clearly not interested in getting a hit single. All of Kylie’s current promotion is in hope the album will sell well. Kylie has had more than enough top 10 hits between 1988 and 2011, she probably doesn’t care if she never gets another. She’s not in need of them to keep her career going. She did, once, but no longer.

Well kylie did a small advert I remember with Spotify

But never made any playlists so......

I do wonder if she has something else up her sleeve but doubt it.

She has more versions around to be released on Itunes and Spotify. Let's see.

She has her concerts in a few weeks which could generate interest and if some of her mixes like Anton Powers and Illyus and barrientos mixes get playlisted who knows. Problem is by them her sales from ituhes will be non existent

Dancing is not generic at all. The song is a reflection of where she is as an artic. She is 30 years into her career and has nothing to prove to anyone.

She went through hell in 2016 and poured her heaet into this era and the music and was inspired by her surroundings. The country twang to Dancing lends itself to the lyics.

A tech house sound would not lend itself to a song about welcoming death. At all. She does not need to appeal to anyone.

‘Dancing’ is the first Kylie song I’ve really enjoyed since ‘Slow’. I wouldn’t say it was that basic, though does have some ‘modern’ production elements, namely the drop on the post chorus instrumental, but it’s still quite an interesting song. The double meaning about death is quite beautiful, empowering and euphoric when you think about Kylie’s past.
Holding on to number 10 on Itunes nicely. 9th combined with the Initial Talk remix. Not going to go any higher and will probably drop but if it can stay top 30 for rest of week then top 100 chart position should be achievable

Not a fan of 'All The Lovers'? :(
Did Kylie get a play on The Big Top 40 tonight then?

Nope, the top 10 is just as fabricated as the rest of the chart now instead of being the iTunes top 10!
