Posted March 4, 20187 yr Who Wants To Be A Millionaire is returning to ITV soon with ordinary contestants ie not celebrities. No host officially announced yet but rumours are that it won't be Chris Tarrant but Jeremy Clarkson! Is it too soon to bring it back and what do you think of Clarkson as host? March 4, 20187 yr Used to love this show back in its heyday before they utterly mutilated it with the timer & all the other useless gimmicks. I'm very intrigued to see how Jeremy Clarkson is as a host of this.
March 4, 20187 yr Author I don't like the idea of producers choosing the contestants via auditions now as they do on other quiz shows. The phone question and random picking by computer so looks and personality didn't matter was fine. Now I bet just the photogenic and bubbly people get on. Hope they still do fastest finger first. March 4, 20187 yr Author absolutely not here for Jeremy Clarkson hosting tho Jeremy Paxman would be better
March 4, 20187 yr I guess a revival of this could be good if they manage to freshen up the formula a little, without losing what made the original run so good! Jeremy Clarkson, however, is not the answer. Please god no.
March 4, 20187 yr Jeremy Paxman would be better He's great on University Challenge when he pressured all those know-it-alls but I wouldn't like him on this if they're gonna resort back to the "you only have 3 milliseconds to answer" which completely erases the tension & joy of watching people mulling over whether to risk crazy amounts of money.
March 4, 20187 yr Simple go back and stick to fastest finger first, no auditions, no gimmicks with the timings, changing the questions from 15 to 12. Or any 'swap' lifelines and no Jeremy Clarkson. Keep the original formula. or show it as 'live'.
March 4, 20187 yr Oh I loved this so much as a child so I'd love to see it back, that said, with Chris Tarrant plz. Jeremy Clarkson is just...not a prospect we should be entertaining.
March 4, 20187 yr OMG YES. I absolutely adore the show, but they can piss right off with Clarkson :puke2:
March 4, 20187 yr I would be here if not for that utter waste of oxygen "presenting" it. The format was a bit slow at times but I loved the tension it created, it was perfect easy Saturday night viewing.
March 5, 20187 yr Author I would be here if not for that utter waste of oxygen "presenting" it. The format was a bit slow at times but I loved the tension it created, it was perfect easy Saturday night viewing. For many years it was on Tuesday evenings. Started on Tuesdays too IIRC. They moved it to Saturdays much later.
March 9, 20187 yr Author Jeremy Clarkson confirmed as new host. To start with and to gauge public reaction, seven new episodes will air on consecutive nights over one week this autumn, the 25th Anniversary of the show's start. Said to be the original format with 15 question, three lifelines and no timer. Edited March 9, 20187 yr by Crazy Chris
March 9, 20187 yr Glad it's the original format, will definitely be interested in this now! Just wonder how seriously Clarkson will take it or will it be another Robot Wars?
March 9, 20187 yr Will be interesting to see Clarkson as the new host. I wonder why Tarrent didn’t return?
March 9, 20187 yr Will be interesting to see Clarkson as the new host. I wonder why Tarrent didn’t return? Because it is a tired, old format - and for one thing £1 million in 1998 is now worth £1,655,181 due to inflation so it's not actually that much money anymore - I suspect there are many houses worth more than that in the SE of England.
March 10, 20187 yr £1,000,000 is not actually that much money anymore? on what planet? it’s still far and away the biggest prize you can win on tv regardless of inflation.
