Now 63 is great. It gets a lot of hate, but it's got some great tracks on it -

"Ugly" "Because of You" "Sewn" "No Tomorrow" "Ride a White Horse" "Dirty Harry" to name just a few. 2002 was a disappointing year for Nows, 53 being the best of a fairly dull bunch.

As for Now 100, this was always going to be the biggest Now in ages regardless of its content.

19. The KLF - 3am Eternal

Most of the predictions there seem fine to me, except this one- didn't KLF delete their entire back catalogue?

Most of the predictions there seem fine to me, except this one- didn't KLF delete their entire back catalogue?

Not too sure. If they can’t get the rights to that one, it’ll most likely be the Clash or Enigma who get the NOW 19 slot

Hi everyone! New member here. :)

Kudos to NOW for reaching the milestone 100th numbered album! Its tracklist looks fine. In fact, I was surprised when one of the classic tracks on CD 2 is S Club 7's Reach (NOW 46, 2000) - that is one of my favourite S Club songs, and even one of the songs that defined my younger years.

I remember the first NOW album that I owned. And no, it's not a numbered one. It's a spin-off release - NOW That's What I Call Music! 25 Years, a 3-disc special they released back in 2008; I owned a copy of it the following year. I love most of its songs, and I even had CD 3 on heavy rotation! Ah, those were the days...

Now, here are my predictions for the upcoming NOW That's What I Call NOW album. Along the way, I will also reveal my personal votes for the recently-concluded NOW 100 Awards; these tracks are marked in underline. The tracks in bold text are CD 1 Track 1 of their respective NOW albums.

Now 62 is worse I think, only two dance songs on it (with 'Love On my Mind' and 'Jacques Your Body' omitted).

Of the 80s ones, Now 12 isn't great I think.

Erm, Now 62 is amazing tho?

Push The Button, Tripping, Since U Been Gone, Biology, I Predict A Riot, Suddenly I See, We Belong Together, Hollaback Girl, Fix You and The Inportance Of Being Idle to name just a few? It’s not the be all and end all of there isn’t much dance.

there is a fair bit of filler on Now 62 though; Friday Hill anyone? Also David Gray and as high as track five too.

I wouldn't put it amongst the worst though as it's made up by quite a few great songs as you mentioned. Some more dance would've been nice but late 2005 didn't exactly have a load of dance hits.

I would agree there does seem to be alot of random filler on Now 62 which is a shame as I loved the music back in 2005 but there was too many omissions. To be fair that David Gray song was a big airplay hit at the time as well as a Top 10 single, even though it's not really stood the test of time today it was a hit at the time of release.

In amongst all the thought pieces and debate, I had to share this piece Bob Stanley (of Saint Etienne, and a Now fan who wrote the introductory sleeve notes in 100. Now 68 is his favourite apparently) wrote in The Guardian this weekend just gone - it kind of ties in to what you were saying Gavin: https://www.theguardian.com/music/2018/jul/...at-i-call-music

He's spot on, in so far as what they stand for, when they're really good, is being time capsules for what was popular at that time. Daphne & Celeste sharing album space with Tom Jones on Now 45? Absolutely!

The David Gray song was a big hit, perhaps track 5 was a little out of place but it wasn’t exactly a big flop. Now 62 actually does a great job of covering late 2005. The only real omissions being Madonna and Arctic Monkeys.

Now 68 is a good choice, the second half of 2007, which this album represents, is probably my favourite six-month period for music since late 1998:

Rule The World

Bleeding Love

Song 4 Mutya

With Every Heartbeat

About You Now

Big Girls Don't Cry

All on the same album <3

And Believe Again by Delta Goodrem, my third favourite song of all-time, came out in this period too.

Wow that article gives up by the second half doesn’t it?

It goes through each individual Now until around the 60s where it skips loads out!

Also David Gray and as high as track five too.

That David Gray track is OK, but its no 'Please Forgive Me' (which is my favourite of his, as it is his most interesting single I think, it even has a sort of drum and bass type beat :o ).

Hello! Welcome to the forum!

Wasn't Britney voted "Best NOW Female" and "Best Song of the 90's"? Bon Jovi voted "Best Song Of the 80's" as well as Take That - Rule the World for "Best Song of the 00's" and Little Mix - Black Magic "Best Song Of the 10's"?

Or were you choosing songs that were nominated?

Hi there,

Let me just clarify, the ones you mentioned are indeed the winners. The ones I mentioned in my post are the ones that I have voted for. :D

I believe I have casted my vote a day before the poll has closed.

Thanks for the warm welcome, btw.

Welcome! Buzzjack’s Now! thread was the reason I first joined here too (assuming the same goes for you :P), posting predictions for Now albums :’) And even before that I came to these threads as a guest just to see what other people thought of the Now albums!

I like your Now NOW prediction although it’s missing some Queen :kink:

92. Sam Smith - Writing's on the Wall

93. Coldplay - Hymn for the Weekend

94. Calum Scott - Dancing on My Own

95. James Arthur - Say You Won't Let Go

96. Rag'n'Bone Man - Human

This run of songs would be a nightmare for me too tbh, Hymn For The Weekend is a fantastic song (albeit not Coldplay’s best) but doesn’t quite make up for being between two slogs

Hi Dexton! Thanks for your honest reply, especially the nightmare one. I understand where you're coming from, owing from our different tastes in music, the apparent licensing issues for certain songs, and of course, the UK charts where the NOW team (i.e. Jenny Fisher et al) base their track list for every album they put out. :)

As for Queen (i.e. Freddie Mercury and company), I thought there was this thing going on that they should be CD 1 Track 1 if they were to appear on compilation albums, although I observed this isn't the case in some of the NOW albums they appeared in. If I were to pick a Queen track, though... well, I am actually torn between Radio Ga Ga (NOW 2, 1984), Bohemian Rhapsody (NOW 21, 1992) [mama, ooh...], and Too Much Love Will Kill You (NOW 33, 1996).

You are actually correct when you said that the NOW Music forum here is the reason why I entered here.

Here's part of what I said in the new members forum:

The reason I signed up for Buzzjack is that I saw by chance a dedicated forum for the NOW That's What I Call Music! compilation album series. I own some of these albums, and bought most of them (UK, US and Middle East editions) during my stay in Saudi Arabia, when I was still in high school. Some years back, I signed up for the original NOW Music Forums, but my membership remained pending until the site has been closed down.

Edited by Ken A.

Oops, I accidentally posted a duplicate of my post above (#437). My sincere apologies.

Edited by Ken A.

don't worry it happens (the double posting).

yeah, I think licensing issues will prevent them from getting any Queen (they only appear on comps if they are track 1 disc 1), unless they decide to go out of sync and make Bohemian Rhapsody (or Radio Ga Ga) track 1 disc 1, which would ruin the whole point of 100 songs from 100 NOWs. Having it be in chronological NOW order is more ideal than getting the rights to a Queen song that most people already own somehow anyway.
