Brilliant Top 2!  Would’ve preferred them the other way around, but this being George Ezra’s highest peaking single is great

Also yay at These Days being both Rudimental & Macklemore’s first #1 since 2013! Jess going for that record too x

I feel I’ve enjoyed this weeks chart show more than usual.. probably due to listening to more newer songs and the Top 10 changes. Enjoyed it enough to sit through 6 weeks of reshuffles anyway :P (which will come this weekend at some point)

Biography

Samuel Frederick Smith (born 19 May 1992) is an English singer-songwriter. He rose to fame in October 2012 when he was featured on Disclosure's breakthrough single "Latch", which peaked at number eleven on the UK Singles Chart. His subsequent feature—on Naughty Boy's "La La La"—earned him his first number one single in May 2013. In December 2013, he was nominated for the 2014 Brit Critics' Choice Award and the BBC's Sound of 2014 poll, both of which he won.

He released his debut studio album, In the Lonely Hour, in May 2014 on Capitol Records UK. The lead single, "Lay Me Down", was released prior to "La La La". The second single, "Money on My Mind", became his second number one single in the UK. The album's third single, "Stay with Me", was an international success, reaching number one in the UK and number two on the US Billboard Hot 100, while the fourth single "I'm Not the Only One" reached the top five in both countries. The fifth single, "Like I Can", reached number nine in the United Kingdom. He made his United States debut on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, followed by a performance on Saturday Night Live in March 2014.

In December 2014, Smith was nominated for six Grammy Awards, and at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards in February 2015 he won four: Best New Artist, "Stay with Me" for Record of the Year and Song of the Year, and In the Lonely Hour for Best Pop Vocal Album. At the 2015 Brit Awards, he won the awards for British Breakthrough Act and Global Success. At the 2015 Billboard Music Awards, Smith received three Billboard Awards: Top Male Artist, Top New Artist, and Top Radio Songs Artist. His musical achievements have also led him to be mentioned twice in the Guinness World Records.

For his and Jimmy Napes' song "Writing's on the Wall", the theme for the James Bond film Spectre (2015), Smith won the Golden Globe Award and the Academy Award for Best Original Song. His second studio album, The Thrill of It All, was released in November 2017, and debuted atop the UK Albums Chart and the US Billboard 200. The lead single, "Too Good at Goodbyes", reached number one in the UK and Australia and number four in the US. - Wikipedia

Biography

Ne-Yo

Shaffer Chimere Smith (born October 18, 1979), known professionally as Ne-Yo, is an American singer, songwriter, record producer, dancer, and actor.

Ne-Yo gained fame for his songwriting abilities when he penned his 2004 hit "Let Me Love You" for singer Mario. The single's successful release in the United States prompted an informal meeting between Ne-Yo and Def Jam's label head, and the signing of a recording contract.

Ne-Yo's debut album was In My Own Words, released in 2006. The album was critically successful, reaching number one on the Billboard 200. It is certified platinum in the United States, United Kingdom, Japan and Australia. Ne-Yo's first single "Stay", was released in September 2005. The song was a success on the R&B charts, but failed to chart on the Billboard Hot 100. His second single, "So Sick" was first released in November 2005. In the US, it was a commercial success, reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100, and was also certified platinum four times in the US and twice in Japan. "When You're Mad" and "Sexy Love" were released afterwards from the album in 2006, reaching number 15 and number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100. In April 2007, Ne-Yo released his second studio album, Because of You, and was the second number one platinum-selling album debuted on the US Billboard 200 and Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts. The album won a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary R&B Album at the 2008 Grammy Awards. Ne-Yo's third studio album, Year of the Gentleman, was released internationally in August 2008. The album was nominated for Best Contemporary R&B Album and Album of the Year at the 2009 Grammy Awards, "Closer" for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance, and "Miss Independent" for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance and Best R&B Song. Year of the Gentleman has been certified platinum twice in the US, selling two million copies, also platinum three times in the UK and once in Japan. The third single, "Mad," peaked at number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Ne-Yo's fourth studio album, Libra Scale was released in November 2010. Though Libra Scale reached number one in the UK R&B Singles and Albums Charts, number 9 on the US Billboard 200, it sold less than the previous albums. Three single were released from the album, UK number-one hit "Beautiful Monster", as well the R&B singles "Champagne Life" and "One in a Million". Ne-Yo released his fifth album, R.E.D. in November 2012. His mainstream lead single "Let Me Love You (Until You Learn to Love Yourself)", released in July 2012, was certified platinum in US, sold over two million copies. Ne-Yo released his sixth album Non-Fiction in January 2015. His upcoming seventh album, entitled Good Man, was expected to be released sometime in 2017, with "Another Love Song" released in May 2017 as the album's first single.

On July 12, 2016, Ne-Yo was a guest judge on NBC's America's Got Talent judge cuts. He currently serves as judge for the reality competition series World of Dance with Jennifer Lopez and Derek Hough. - Wikipedia

Bleta "Bebe" Rexha (/ˈbiːbi ˈrɛksə/; born August 30, 1989) is an American singer, songwriter and record producer. She is best known for her collaborations with other artists, such as G-Eazy's "Me, Myself & I", David Guetta's "Hey Mama", Martin Garrix's "In the Name of Love" and featuring on songs by Cash Cash and Louis Tomlinson.

She also wrote songs that were given to other high-profile artists, such as the Eminem and Rihanna single "The Monster", and songs for Selena Gomez and Nick Jonas, among others. In 2015 she released her first solo EP, I Don't Wanna Grow Up. In October 2016, "I Got You" was released as the lead single from her EP All Your Fault: Pt. 1. Stefflon Don

Dancehall/rap artist Stephanie Allen (aka Stefflon Don) switches between dancehall patois, grime verses, and honeyed vocals with ease and confidence. Originally born in Birmingham to Jamaican parents, Allen moved to the Netherlands when she was five years old. Her family remained in Holland for nine years before moving to Clapton, East London when she was 14. As Allen grew older she knew she wanted to pursue music, taking on the initial strategy of covering other artists' work and spinning it in new directions; the first two efforts that gained traction came in 2015, when Allen covered Wretch 32's "Six Words" and Section Boyz's "Lock Arff." As Allen became more popular, she collaborated with a number of prominent artists including Lethal Bizzle, Sneakbo, Jeremih, and Wretch 32 on his 2016 album Growing Over Life. 2016 also saw the release of her debut mixtape, Real Ting, which featured Jeremih returning the favor as a guest artist. As 2016 drew to a close, Stefflon Don was highlighted on the BBC's Sound of 2017 list. The following year, Allen signed to Universal Music, which created a new subsidiary -- 54 London -- and made her the first signee. - iTunes

Paradise another strange hit this year, never thought i'd see two indie songs (essentially) in the top 3 again :o

Finally Rudimental and friends have done it. Jess Glynne now has got the record of most #1s from a British female. None of this crap about Geri and Cheryl having it including #1's from Spice Girls and Girls Aloud.
Rudimental at #1, as expected. Not saying they didn't deserve it as it's mad that it stayed at #2 this whole time, and Jess has got the record now of course, but the song's probably one of their worst. Would've appreciated George Ezra at the top much more.

'These Days' has grown on me massively, so I'm happy to see it finally at #1. Wouldn't have been opposed to 'Paradise' either, so here's hoping it manages to nab a week at the top at some point.

Edit: Didn't realise Jess Glynne now officially had the record. I do like her, but her insane success baffles me. She's not even released a second album yet!

Edited by Defaze

Rudimental are an English drum and bass band

Really, still a drum and bass band, well there is still drums and bass in These Days I guess :basil:

Seriously These Days is boring and takes itself too seriously, ideally Paradise would have made a better #1 but such as the dullness of These days, I honesty would have preferred God's Plan to remain at #1 tbh than that song making it.

Edited by Queef's Throne

These Days finally :cheer: so bored of the song now but glad to it see it grab a week. Here for Paradise getting it next week tho pls

The song they produced for Thandi Phoenix a couple weeks ago is pretty classic Rudimental drum & bass for what it's worth!

Does Paradise have a chance at #1 next week? I don’t see much competition around so unless These Days increases/steadys it’s lead I can see George or Portugal taking over. Freaky Friday has increased a lot but I can’t see it going #1.

Shawn Mendes & Bebe should be low Top 10 next week too, up until today I would’ve thought The Weeknd could’ve challenged for a #1 debut but his EP isn’t exactly commercial

Except where would she be without the features thoughhhhhh????

Lazy bitch. Riding off the coattails of others.

:P

But seriously though, well done to her. It's just a shame her material isn't exciting. :(
