What are Kodaline doing hanging around at 96? It's unusual for them to be top 100 outside of release week these days. Would be so pleased if this could become another minor hit for them even if it's not their best!

Has anyone else noticed that ed Sheerans cover of CITW is now an album-only song which means you can’t buy it individually, watch it plummet down the iTunes charts tomorrow, or it could just be a mistake

I wonder why? Surely it’s good to have a track doing well and becoming big enough to get radio play is good to help sell the album?

I'd rather buy the 1997 version that made it to number 1, it's better :P

This!

Elton’s original is better but in fairness Ed’s cover isn’t half bad. I can’t think why anyone would prefer this new version but I still quite like it :P

Coincidentally, I much prefer the 1997 version of "Candle In The Wind" as well

1997 ftw!

Speaking of CITW, why has Ed’s version been made album-only and why is it the only song from that compilation to be made album-only?

I noticed that as well (on iTunes) although curiously you can still download it from Amazon.

Incidentally it is the second time Ed Sheeran has been involved with a cover of "Candle In The Wind" (there is a version on the 2014 reissue of Elton's "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" Album, I suppose that is why they have made it clear the latest version is the 2018 Version).

Presumably to increase sales of the parent album?

I much prefer the original Candle in the wind from the 70s and I particularly likethe 1988 live version with the lyrics about Marilyn, rather than the 97 reworked lyrics for Lady Di

Ed’s cover is horrendous, in a faster weird tempo that doesn’t fit the song, lacklustre production, weird backing vocals that dont fit and some horrible falsetto from ed where he doesnt hit the notes

But his 2014 version was even worst with some fake irish violins ala corrs

So glad this appears to be taking off

 33. Cardi B, Bad Bunny & J Balvin - I Like It

I wish it was 'Ring' taking off, that's my favourite :(

Lol of course it was only a matter of time before Bad Bunny would get a chart hit. I hope Be Careful takes off a bit before this inevitably becomes the next big single of hers.

20 Dancing

21 Stop Me From Falling

Kylie got promo tonight on The One show. Could both get a little boost.

Kylie is performing Stop Me From Falling at end of Show.

I would think Dancing Video will also be shown

She could have 2 songs in top 75 on Friday. :)

1997 ftw!

Yes the 1997 version and its new meaning is what most people associate the song with, so any subsequent version is a hard act to follow. Candle in the Wind is one Elton John song that shouldn't be covered I think. Although if it would have been left out of the album, Ed would have probably covered 'Sacrifice' which would have been worse imo, as Sacrifice is my favourite Elton John song.

Regardless of the merits of the cover, it is still a silly decision to make the Ed version album only though.
