Listened to it when I was awake around 02.30. Enjoyed it and bought the picture disc.

 

My full thoughts will follow later! What I already enjoy about it is that:

1. I can play it as a pure pop album to shake my (gay) ass off to.

2. Listen to the lyrics and enjoy the layers of this project. It’s a pop album with some interesting things musically, lyric wise and the use of her voice.

Agreed with this last point. While on paper it may seem like a bog-standard dance album, the more you listen themore you realise what it is saying and the multi-layered lyrics and vocal tricks she uses throughout. It's all just done... with a dance backing. It's still batshit crazy ~ and therefore totally GAGA.

I think that is ultimately what is holding me back — which is fine — she's still created a very cohesive vision but I just know she could have gone further.

Agreed - it feels a little mechanical in its formulation to suit current trends and what she knew she needed to do to maintain success where as usually I adore the artistic freedom her albums display. I wish there were two versions, one of the radio edits as such and another version where she allows the tracks to just explode and grow, the basis of pretty much every song is strong so it could have been even more amazing.

Funny how everyone enjoys something else.

 

What I like this time around is the fact that the vision/message isn’t ‘forced down my throat’. Now I can pick my Gaga the way I want (poppy or find more meaning as the album is more then a trend imo).

 

But he, I’m glad she’s having succes and we can enjoy ‘poppy Gaga’.

 

Oh, and I love the look and feel of the picture disc btw ❤️

I actually think her artistry relies on building concepts and performing more than writing music. I think she is pretty formulaic as a writer.

 

We all know her IQ is on a genius levels so...

The fact there was no #1s on BTW and that the BTW single itself wasn’t a UK No.1 is just a travesty

Gaga has delayed the upcoming listening sessions she had planned - instead encouraging people to register to vote and raise their voice at this awful time.
I just keep thinking about what would have happened had this not been delayed and allowed for ROM to precede it’s release. It has been the biggest blessing in disguise to have it pushed back to today, ROM probably wouldn’t have peaked at #1 if the original date was kept either.
It’s crazy this album came out Today! it already feels a few days old for me but it’s probably because I’ve listened non stop
