Those streaming numbers are impressive and a surprise.

It is welcoming that it has met with some success in the streaming market.

The physical was limited to 5000 and the breakdown of over a third sold in the UK is good.

It's astounding it can amass that many total streaming equivalents considering it spent one day in the Spotify chart on the day it was released, without ever appearing again.

Mind you, I know it somehow managed 3,000 in streams on the week it peaked in the top 40.

That would have actually been around 4,500 streaming sales that contributed to its running total that week, because back then streaming was divided by 150 for the weekly charts, but it was by 100 for the running total!

I reckon by the time Dancing hit #38 (which was in its 12th week on sale), it would have accumulated about 30,000 streaming sales, 33,000 downloads and the 1,617 vinyl it sold that week.

Thanks for the sales breakdown, AJ!

Dancing was already Kylie's fifth most streamed song by March 2018 so to have over 100k worth of streams now seems perfectly reasonable, but it's still a surprise to see it there in actual figures. As Aly said, it only managed 1 day in the Spotify Top 200.

Great streaming sales for Dancing - they need to repeat the trick with future singles.

And those physical sales could have easily been 5,000+ had they not restricted it to the £50 bundle.

Massive shame Dancing was never on Hot Hits, I could have seen it having a 'Hello My Love' type chart run, because the public clearly liked it.

There was much more room to capture further physical sales.

I think a physical single for all the Golden singles would have sold for Kylie and may have possibly given her higher positions.

Backed with a physical ,Stop Me From Falling could have entered the Top 40 and Musics Too Sad Without You Top 75.

Physical availability on the impact week for Dancing would have secured Kylie a Top 30 hit and possibly Top 20.

Agreed! Hopefully it can become a song that's used on adverts and background music on X Factor etc. as it already receives decent iTunes boosts from the slightest bit of promo. It's already on good sales but would be great so see this become one of her best sellers.

Assuming we got a new album next year, I wonder if it's too much to ask for all the good will for Kylie this past two years to be enough to see her get slightly better Spotify support??

I cant see Kylie ever getting much spotify support, it just seem in any way likely.

I would welcome X Factor doing a Kylie themed week with Dancing one of the songs covered.

A new audience with Kylie show is something i would further welcome.

X factor doesnt have the draw it once had and not all performances get the boosts anymore but a kylie themed week would get sbit some extra sales, cant see it happening though.
It is far removed from its peak appeal but a Kylie themed week going out to an audience of 6-7 million would attract sales.
  • 4 weeks later...

up to 604th on iTunes UK

rumoured to be part of a 4 song Medley on Strictly tonight. Wonder if it will go top 150 again? :)

Love that streaming is catapulting Dancing to 200,000.
