The One is wonderful. Wonderful enough that it should have been the lead single from X.

On a Night Like This feels weirdly underrated amongst her catalogue. I always forget how much I enjoy it.

The One is a very natural continuation from I Believe in You. I can't rebuke 2 Hearts being the lead single as I love it and it shows Kylie is still keen to try new sounds, but I do wonder what could have been if The One was pushed first.

The One certainly was a very natural continuation from I Believe In You and was the song that was needed to set X into the market strongly.

I have never doubted Kylie wasn't afraid to try new sounds but strongly feel 2 Hearts was a huge mistake as lead single.

I agree about 2 hearts as there was better songs on the album for a lead and it doesnt represent the rest of the album at all.

There isnt one other song on X with a similar vibe to 2 Hearts.

That said, X is one of the few Kylie albums with a huge mixture of styles.

The One - This just goes to show how loved this really is and a total lost classic, the fact that this never got its moment to shine, a cancelled release and not-so great video, this song is just so epic and why was this passed over in favour of '2 Hearts', its criminal.

My run of X Singles would have been =

1. The One
2. Wow
3. In My Arms
4. Like A Drug

Switch like a drug with in my arms and it would have been a great run of singles.

I am with this.

The X era i strongly feel would have met greater success had this actually happened.

I agree about 2 hearts as there was better songs on the album for a lead and it doesnt represent the rest of the album at all.

Not just this but I think everyone was waiting for a massive Kylie-like classic after her break — we were all rooting for her.

I don't think anyone actually wanted anything like 2 Hearts, and it makes even less sense when you look at the album.

Everyone wanted Kylie to come back with a big pop song, The One would have ticked that box.

Indeed, everyone was rooting for Kylie as it was her step back into the limelight after everything she went through with her cancer.

2 Hearts, didn't win over as many people as she may possibly have done so had The One got released instead.

I don't actually see how '2 Hearts' is that different to the general sound of the album. It's punchier and more pop-rock orientated but I've never thought it sounded out of place. The run of the opening five tracks all flow really well to me.
No song is really out of place on X due to the various styles but I dont think 2hearts has a companion sound wise on the album where other songs do.

'2 Hearts' is very singular on the album. But it's a sound I'd like to hear more of from Kylie. All be it, with a slightly lighter touch.

Borns, for example, has the vibe of a modern Glam-rock/T-rex sound. And Goldfrapp has also done it successfully in the past. I'd really enjoy something similar from Kylie.

But first, more disco please!

2 Hearts would have been the ideal lead single for Impossible Princess.

The sounds of 2 hearts and followed by Limbo could have provided Impossible Princess with a better start.

If it had happened that way I think I'd appreciate 2 hearts an awful lot more than I do.

Hmmm, not really sure about that. I don't feel like it fits that sound either.
